I am looking for seasons during the Retrosheet era in which an excellent defensive 1B was traded midseason.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Doug Mienkevitch (sp?), a gold glove winner at first base was traded from Minnesota to Boston in 2004 midseason.
Keith Hernandez in 1983 midseason was traded from St. Louis to New York.
Joe Pepitone-1970
Vic Power-1958
Chris Chambliss was traded in ‘74. He won a Gold Glove in ‘78, but I don’t really remember him being a great defensive 1B....although I remember the mid-’80s version of Chambliss most vividly.
Jim Spencer ‘73.
David Segui was traded by the Mariners. IIRC, it was in July, 2001
John Olerud was DFA’ed by the M’s, and picked up thereafter by the Yanks, I think.
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

How about Mark Texiera traded this past season from the Rangers to the Braves.
