a question to yankees fans: i’m taking a few friends to the game tomorrow, coming from new jersey. any good parking/commuting tips? in the past, i’ve parked near Columbia University and taken the subway, but i figure that there’s gotta be a faster way, even if it costs more. thank you.

Generally speaking, there’s no good way to commute to the Stadium with a car. The 4 is -in general- a better bet than the B-D, especially since you’ve got the unattractive walk across 125th street after the game past those Crips-controlled projects. Unfortunately, nowhere on the Upper East side offers parking as easy as Riverside Drive around Riverside Church. What I’d do is try to park on the side-streets b/w lex and 5th, from 86th to 96th, looking especially for the ‘School Days No Parking 7AM-4PM’ areas that will certainly be available; alternatively, park it at a meter on Madison or Lex at 6PM and put quarters in for the hour until 7PM, when the parking becomes free. Then pick up the 4 train @ 86th and Lex, and you’re like 3 stops from the Stadium.
