Has anyone else gotten the feeling during this series that the Cubs are giving up?  It looked like late Semptember of 2005 the last two days.  I realize that they’re without Lee, Prior, and Wood, but they just don’t seem like they really want to play yet.

It doesn’t matter if you’re white, or black, or a sasquatch even!  As long as you follow your dreams, no matter how crazy or illegal they may be.

Unless you’re a sasquatch.  If you’re a sasquatch then the rules are different.

I think ther’s a tendency to find some psychological cause for a team’s poor performance. It seems like the reasons the Cubs looked bad are performance related:

1) Capuano is a very good pitcher.
2) Doug Davis has always seemed to give the Cubs fits.
3) Glendon Rusch is a bad pitcher.
4) Carlos Zambrano did not have it today. I feel comfortable in assuming that he didn’t just give up.
5) The Milwaukee lineup is really good.

I was talking mostly about hitting, and how lazy the Cubs looked when they were at the plate.  Capuano is a bit above average, and Davis is a decent pitcher, but the Cubs should do better.

The Cubs performed poorly this weekend because their lineup isn’t that good without Derrek Lee. But I still think the Brewers deserve some credit.

Capuano has a 2.36 ERA this season. He’s given up 27 hits, nine walks and struck out 40 in 42 innings. It’s not just the Cubs he’s shutting down.

I remember about 10 days ago when everyone seemed stunned at the very thought that the Cubs without Lee might actually be worse than the Brewers.

Amen.  I remember that, too.  How wrong were all of those guys?

Yes, I am guaranteeing the Brewers finish ahead of the Cubs.
