A rumor is going round (apparently started by Damon Bruce on KNBR) that Tim Lincecum is being called up to the Majors. If true, this is unbelievable. Can anyone confirm or deny this story?

Chron says no

Felipe Alou said the Giants might call up another minor-league pitcher—not Tim Lincecum—but (Giants reliever Vinny) Chulk said he was fine and expects to be sitting in the bullpen tonight, ready to pitch and perhaps sneaking a glance at the scoreboard.

Merc waffled

Felipe Alou didn’t kill postgame suspicion that No. 1 draft pick Tim Lincecum could be taken off Class A San Jose’s playoff roster and promoted to the big leagues.

“A couple names have come up,” the manager said.

I can’t imagine a circumstance under which the Giants would call Lincecum up.

If God came out of the sky and threatened to make the Giants have to pay all of the stadium debt before the next fiscal year if Lincecum isn’t called up, they damn well would call him up.
