What teams are currently paying players not on their roster or DL?

For instance, Texas is still paying A-Rod for the length of his contract.
I believe the Mets did a thing with Bobby Bonilla where they are paying him a very small amount for a long time.
I think the Yankees are still paying some of Vasquez’s salary.

The Mets are paying Bonilla until 2025 I think.

They are also paying Mo Vaughn $3.75 mil this year, $5.00 in 2007 and $3.75 in 2008.

Aren’t the Red Sox still paying Renteria?

Also, I believe the Rockies are paying both Neagle and Mike Hampton.

The Yanks are paying some of Vazquez’ salary, which I believe the White Sox and the Diamondbacks are splitting. The Yankees are also paying some of Jose Contreras’ salary, between 2 and 3 million. Together, the Yankees are probably paying out between 5-6 million dollars to these two players.

Philadelphia’s paying quite a bit of Jim Thome’s salary. I’m not sure how much, but it’s 22 million spread over three years.

Other possible candidates:
Mike Lowell
Luis Castillo
Chan Ho Park
Phil Nevin
Shawn Green

There’s probably more, but I can’t come up with any. Mostly, look for players who’ve been traded mid-contract and who underperformed that contract or were injured during it.

Are the Marlins still paying Mike Hampton?

I don’t believe so, but I remember reading somewhere that Ivan Rodriguez was like the Marlins’ second-highest paid player this year.

Cardinals are paying Woody Williams deferred salary until 2017 on a contract previous to his current San Diego deal.

Are the Orioles still paying Belle?

I believe the Jays are still paying Stieb.  Seriously.

Belle’s finally not being paid (though insurance picked up most of the contract).  I think Wayne Garland’s still being paid!

Texas is still paying A-Rod for the length of his contract.

Depending on how you figure it, Texas is still paying Chan Ho Park and Phil Nevin as well, though that may have been dealt with already by cash transferred at the moment of those trades.  In any event, they picked up part of each player’s 2006 salary.  Sign in haste, repent at leisure :)

Bruce Sutter is still being paid by the Braves, kind of.  (He’s collecting $1 million a year from an annuity the team set up when they signed him in 1984.)

I believe the Yankees are still paying Don Gullett.
