Here is a link to the recent Cabrera unassisted Triple Play.

I think that Scutaro did not have to be tagged on that play; that he had been forced out at second on his way back to first, and that both the force plays on him and the lead runner actually occurred simultaneously.

If I’m wrong, it means the lead runner is forced back to second and the trail runner isn’t, which would be bizarre since the trailer must touch second on the way back to first, where he is definitely forced.

Anybody?

Also, this one. Obviously a runner has to be in the baseline; can’t run all over the place to dodge a tag. But what about the runner who misses home, possibly not realizing it? He can be anywhere; if he starts toward the dugout and then goes back, is he out of the baseline? There isn’t even a baseline past home.

While the runner has to re-tag second, he isn’t forced there.  He has to be tagged or thrown out at first.

Also, it’s pretty open game around home plate.

But, I’m no expert; and, no offense, but…
