Here's a question. Since MLB and FOX are so self-serving, both games are on at 8:00 tomorrow. I've read that the Mets-Cards game is on FOX across the nation except for Oakland and Detroit markets.

But is the ALCS game on FX throughout the rest of the country?

Regionalization for October 11 League Championship Series Split National Telecast

FOX Sports, the exclusive broadcast television home of Major League Baseball's postseason, begins its coverage of MLB's League Championship Series on Tuesday, October 10 (8:00 PM ET), when the Oakland A's host the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of the ALCS. On Wednesday, October 11 (8:00 PM ET), FOX Sports provides a split-national telecast of Game 2 of the ALCS and Game 1 of the NLCS between the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets from Shea Stadium. Areas of natural geographic interest receive ALCS Game 2 on their local FOX broadcast affiliate, while a simultaneous live feed of NLCS Game 1 is available on the FX cable network. Those areas of the country receiving NLCS Game 1 on their local FOX broadcast affiliate are able to watch ALCS Game 2 on the FX cable network. FX is widely available in over 90 million U.S. households.
In addition, FOX Sports has set up alternate channels with satellite providers DIRECTV and DISH/Echostar to ensure that both games are available to subscribers of the country's largest DBS companies.

DirecTV: NLCS Game 1 – Channel 246
DirecTV: ALCS Game 2 – Channel 248

DISH/Echostar – Channel 136
DISH/Echostar – Channel 137

This October marks the sixth consecutive year that the League Championship Series round has featured a night of split-national coverage, and the reason for televising both games simultaneously is simple. Far more people are available to watch television in prime time than in daytime. Among all persons age two or older, television usage is +90% higher at 8:00 PM than it is at 4:00 PM on Wednesdays in October. The difference is even more dramatic among the key demographics that drive a baseball audience. Among males age 18-34, viewing is +143% greater in prime time than daytime, +151% greater for men 18-49 and +152% for men 25-54.

This weekend, host Jeanne Zelasko and analyst Kevin Kennedy welcome White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski to the MLB on FOX pregame show for analysis of AL & NL Championship Series games. Pierzynski will be in-studio on Saturday, October 14 and Sunday, October 15.

Why not a 7pm EDT start in the NLCS and a 10pm EDT start for the game that is in Oakland?
   10. Cris E Posted: October 10, 2006 at 03:39 PM (#2205838)
Speaking of Tampa, they've got a couple imbalances on that roster. There's the pileup at SS-3B and also a lot of OF coming up on an overfull lineup. They did deal Gathright this summer, but when would be the time to start dealing some of he excess for pitching? What are they waiting for?

Western Washington is scheduled to receive Oakland-Detroit on FOX, so the "except for Oakland and Detroit markets" clause isn't really in effect. There will probably be a broadcast map today or tomorrow to ID the various markets on a case-by-case basis.

Go Tigers.

Bless you boys.

Ah, Al Ackerman...

I used to have the "Bless you Boys" book. I got it signed by Sparky a few years ago and gave it to my dad for x-mas. I remember running home from school that year to see if they kept that unbeaten streak going to start the season. And watching Morris no-hit the White Sox on the Game of the Week. Local games with George and Al, and Ernie and Paul Carey on the radio.

It's been a long time since baseball mattered in D-Town.

Once again, our postseason <s>Terrible Towels</s> <s>K Kerchiefs</s> Rally Napkins are manufactured in Pakistan. Personally I find it ironic to see people patriotically waving their MADE IN PAKISTAN towels during the National Anthem. Not just because the towels are made in another country (what isn't?), but because it's PAKISTAN. Oh and, God Bless America.

I can deal with the beeps and b.s that Fox does to NOT have to listen to Joe F Morgan.

BTW RE: Zito

I think it's great to see how much Zito relies on his high 86-89 mph fastball in order to set up his other pitches. However, mark my words...as soon as a Tiger goes deep on Zito, someone will comment on how he left the fastball up on that particular pitch. Luckily, Joe F. isn't there to go on and on and on about it.

Other than just simply wanting Kotsay to get playoff PT, having the better outfield defense is probably a good idea given Zito's flyball tendencies.
