Same lineup for the A's. Meanwhile, Jason Tyner is DHing for the Twins.

JRE, it refers to an album by The Zombies that includes the song, "This Will Be Our Year." I was so informed yesterday.

I think Frank Thomas should be Ozymandias instead.

Ah, a Zombies reference.
   9. VG Posted: October 04, 2006 at 12:32 PM (#2197302)
Come to think of it, the Big Hurt sort of runs like a movie zombie nowadays. Roomer™ used to make a Herman Munster reference when he was plodding along with that big ankle brace/shin guard thing last season.
   10. Urban Faber Posted: October 04, 2006 at 12:44 PM (#2197321)
If they'd had the DH in the '60s, I can only imagine the numbers Herman Munster would have put up.

When was the last time a guy with zero career home runs started at DH in a playoff game?

Eric Byrnes looks about as comfortable in a suit as Jeremy Giambi did running the bases.

It's silly to rotate the announcers like this. Why not have Miller and Morgan at this one too?
   14. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 04, 2006 at 01:02 PM (#2197347)
The most important thing is that they kept Erin Andrews there.

So Morgan can do two games in one day.

As are the team I'm cheering for if/when the Tigers get eliminated. They've got the most players I enjoy - Hurt, Haren, Milton....

and I know he's hated around these parts, but I enjoy watching Steve Loaiza throw.

Me too, but only because he is doing so for the opposing team.

I forgot that Morneau is Canadian. So has a Canuck ever won an MVP? Larry Walker has, hasn't he? Anyone else?
   24. Lefty, Monty, And The Moose (Walewander) Posted: October 04, 2006 at 01:27 PM (#2197391)
Milton didn't lose the ball in the lights yesterday, he got freaked out by that big-ass swastika in the ceiling.

What's Chavez's problem been this year?
   25. VG Posted: October 04, 2006 at 01:28 PM (#2197393)

We do, but they'll be gone soon. Dr. Z is not selling enough cars, so he's out
   29. The Ghost of Sox Fans Past Posted: October 04, 2006 at 01:32 PM (#2197405)
Affirmative on the Dr Z commercials, though not during that break. I did not realize that the guy is the real CEO of DC until I read that the campagn wasn't going well, in part because I wasn't the only one by far.

That break, we got the new Chevy truck patriotic commercial, which I like for the moment (i.e., until they show it another 100 times). Is the song by someone I should know? Cause I don't.

I'm not sure I'm comfortable living a world where a Major League manager--a pretty good one!--think it is a good idea to deploy Jason Tyner as the DH and that his DH batting eighth is not a problem

   35. Cris E Posted: October 04, 2006 at 01:44 PM (#2197434)
Gardy doesn't like moving his DH onto the field, so it's a way to ensure that Tyner's poor arm doesn't come into play. Ahem.

You don't think Gardenhire is a good manager? I know he had his Cuban Dictators thing going on earlier in the week, but I'd put him in the top third. Maybe the top 15.

On the other hand, I hope Leyland keeps sending those runners.

The A's need better thatn 1 for 17 from the top three in the order to win this series. It's getting ugly. On the other hand, I breathe easier with Nick Punto coming up in front of the Twins big guys.

Bonser's living a charmed life.
   55. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 04, 2006 at 02:05 PM (#2197476)
Line drive off Bonser's leg, he fumbled the ball allowing Frank to get to third, and he threw Chavez out.

We hate to talk about it, which is why that's all we've been doing the last 2 innings.

And I rather have a guy annoyed that he didn't help his team win when it manages to do so anyways than someone who's happy he did everything he could have even though the team lost.

I'm around. I believe Leyland also said this series would be a "second guesser's dream" because, and this is paraphrase although not by much, he was going to throw all kinds of wacky #### and hope some of it stuck.

Ok, can someone explain the coffee thing to me? Bradley spilled it on Loaiza and it may have (but probably didn't) upset him?
