All right Big Z. Lets go for the sweep!

If you'd told me the Cubs would win two of three in the series at the outset of the weekend, I would've been thrilled. But now I'm greedy and think it's not unreasonable to think sweep here.

   4. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 01:42 PM (#2776697)
johnson has been scratched its edgar gonzalez pitching instead
   5. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 02:10 PM (#2776710)
Carlos isn't starting either. Sean Gallagher instead. Any idea why? Just the weather?
   6. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 02:12 PM (#2776712)
Kasper said it's the weather. Carlos will start tomorrow night.

Rich Hill so far in AAA today: 4 IP, 7Ks, 3BBs & no runs. If he keeps it up & Gallagher has a good start, maybe the Cubs rotation will be Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Dempster and Gallagher. Marquis + some cash could be turned into a B prospect.
   8. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 02:17 PM (#2776718)
im not too surprised that there holding him back till tomorrow, i hope gallagher does well
   9. Neil M Posted: May 11, 2008 at 02:48 PM (#2776746)
Whoever is doing what, it's notable that Soriano is not listed. His lingering leg problems must be persisting. It means that Johnson is starting in LF with Pie in CF. While, like meatwad, I really hope Gallagher does well, I'll settle for this game being played.
   10. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 02:56 PM (#2776750)
soriano didnt look like he was running all that well yesterday.
   11. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:03 PM (#2776755)
This is quite the downgrade.
   12. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:09 PM (#2776761)
yeah but hell id rather have z going against the padres right now anyways
   13. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:28 PM (#2776777)
is it likely this game will get underway?
   14. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:38 PM (#2776790)
I want to strangle Byrnes every time I see him make a play in left.
   15. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2776851)
LEE!!
   16. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:19 PM (#2776882)
Final Hill line: 5.2 IP, 8Ks, 4BBs, 0 R and 3 hits.

Gallagher looks outstanding. It's days like this that make you happy Brian Roberts isn't on the team.

Is this really the best spot for ####### fox?
   18. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:47 PM (#2776952)
fox should not be in the game, or on the roster
   19. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:48 PM (#2776954)
God dammit. What a stupid way to lose a baseball game. I'd have rather seen Wuertz or Howry blow it than chad ####### fox. Where this misplaced trust came from, I don't know.
   20. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:50 PM (#2776957)
what really sucks is those runs get charged to ghallager
   21. Pops Freshenmeyer Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:52 PM (#2776960)
This is part of Fox's settlement with the team for Dusty's vaporization of his elbow.
   22. 100 Years is Nothing Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:57 PM (#2776972)
Don't worry, his arm should fall off his body withhin this next week, and we can replace the bum with a major leaguer.
   23. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:04 PM (#2776982)
Fox hit 94 with some movement on that last fastball. The stuff still appears to be there, which explains why he's on the roster, I guess. Obviously, I'd have preferred a longer minor league trial, preferably with some time in AAA.
   24. 100 Years is Nothing Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:21 PM (#2776993)
Yes, I'd be much happier if he had a full season trial in AAA this year.
   25. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:23 PM (#2776994)
well at least milwaukee beat st louis today
   26. Neil M Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:33 PM (#2776999)
If the Cubs are so into win-now mode that they can't give regular time to the development of Pie then how on earth can they rationalise wasting a roster spot on somebody who, at best, might give them a few tens of innings of MR over the next year or so? Chad Fox should be handed an air ticket and all the pink bats he can move on eBay and everyone should move on.
   27. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:44 PM (#2777004)
hmm johnson goes long to tie it up
   28. A Surfeit of Peaches Graham (SdeB) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:02 PM (#2777008)
Speaking of players who shouldn't be on the team, what's up with Ward?
   29. A Surfeit of Peaches Graham (SdeB) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:03 PM (#2777009)
I hereby retract the last comment.
   30. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:05 PM (#2777012)
looks like the sweep will happen
   31. Meatwad Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:17 PM (#2777016)
cubs win
   32. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:21 PM (#2777017)
1st place.
   33. Thomas Richard Hamilton Nugent Posted: May 11, 2008 at 06:25 PM (#2777021)
To me, if Chad Fox threw 20 IP of good baseball in AAA with good peripherals, then I'd be fine with him on the roster some time after the AS break. Especially since his stuff suggests he could be pretty good.
   34. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: May 11, 2008 at 07:12 PM (#2777034)
Cool. I saw Chad Fox blow it, but had to go out to dinner for Mother's Day right after. Glad to see the Cubs came through again. Now, Lou. Stop using Fox.
   35. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 11:11 PM (#2777462)
Or start using Fox in situations like a 5 run lead in the 9th inning rather than your best reliever.
