Buck to the DL, Dee Brown to Oakland.

And on the day they trade Bradley for ####. How fitting!

And on the day they trade Bradley for ####. How fitting!

Be fair. They got #### AND the privilege of paying some of Bradley's contract.

Also--Lugo down, Murphy up, and Snelling to the 60 day DL. Hopefully that means Harden's OK.
   4. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 06:34 PM (#2422797)
I'm not sure what #### is. Is it Brown?
   5. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:01 PM (#2422822)
God freaking dang it, Buck. I imagine/hope we'll soon see a Lewis DFA, Brown up in the pen?

Kennedy is an FA at the end of the year right? Is he worth trading or would he bring picks?
   6. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:08 PM (#2422836)
I'm not ready to completely give up on the season yet. If Harden, Loaiza, Duke and Street (and the other important parts) are healthy and the team is playing well and within 8 games or so at the end of July I think they should go for it this year. If not I'd be willing to give up the ship then, but not now. Unless they're bowled over with a deal now of course.
   7. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:12 PM (#2422847)
Agreed.
I think I would trade Dan Johnson now, though, unless yesterday's 4 for 4 starts a string of similar outings.
   8. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:13 PM (#2422852)
Ya, I've no problem with trading Johnson now is, as it appears, Barton isn't any worse than him, and they actually get something useful back.

Bad call on Swish.

Matsui took the scenic route but still got there.
   13. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:25 PM (#2422895)
Are there no Yankee fans in game chatter? Weird. I expected this to be one of the ones where we have to fight for space, like the Mets or Red Sox.
   14. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:26 PM (#2422898)
They go to Larry's blog now.

Blown DP hurts.
   16. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:33 PM (#2422917)
Did we not do a lineup? Isn't that like a law that we have to do that? I attribute the runs to that.

I did a lineup once, with disastrous results. I think it was the Cardinals series. I vowed never to do it again.
   19. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:39 PM (#2422946)
Maybe this will be the same, we'll see. The chatter just doesn't feel right without it.

True, and these names are pretty good.

For the record, Derek Jeter's bunt popout on the first pitch in the first inning was the stupidest thing a Yankee has done this year.

And the Yankees have done many stupid things this year.
   25. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 07:54 PM (#2423000)
I thought Torre was going to tell him to stop doing that.
   26. Danny Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:00 PM (#2423021)
Stewart's been the ideal leadoff hitter since the middle of April. He's at .324/.403/.435 with 7 SB and 0 CS since 4/18.
   27. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:02 PM (#2423027)
Yes, it's too bad we will soon have to DFA him because he is black.

Kay is not a good announcer.

   31. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:21 PM (#2423066)
Man! We've had a couple line drives snagged in the outfield today.
   32. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:21 PM (#2423068)
Matsui must have taught him how to play OF.

Here comes a bunt!

I love hearing Kay read these sleazy TV promos.
   34. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:42 PM (#2423122)
Stewart should have gone as soon as the umpire made no call it seems.

Hasn't Swisher seen the DL?
   38. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 08:58 PM (#2423174)
Yeah, at least once this year
   39. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:01 PM (#2423183)
Alright Dan. Show me we shouldn't trade you.
   40. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:02 PM (#2423188)
Bad break there, but we've been pretty lucky this game
   41. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:03 PM (#2423190)
That does not count even though we scored. Oh, Dan, your fate has been presaged by my iTunes-Kenny Rogers says:

You gotta know when to hold 'em,
you gotta know when to fold 'em
you gotta know when to trade 'em off
for some pitching prospects
and chicken wings

Not exactly the Ramones, but OK.
   43. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:04 PM (#2423196)
A few more starts against Oakland and Mussina might get his ERA down to the respectable range. That offense sucks.
   44. Danny Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2423209)
A few more starts against Oakland and Mussina might get his ERA down to the respectable range. That offense sucks.

It sucks most of the time, but it's awesome enough the other times to push their OPS+ to an almost respectable 99.
   45. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2423210)
What is a Dallas Braden?

Also, is there any whiter name than "Dallas Braden"? Possibly "Tyler Yates."
   46. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2423211)
You mean we should trade a minor league reliever for a 5-tool OF with a high OBP and get the other team to throw in some cash?
   47. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:09 PM (#2423220)
It sucks most of the time, but it's awesome enough the other times to push their OPS+ to an almost respectable 99.

Are they sitting some of their good hitters tonight? Because that lineup has a lot of soft spots between Kendall, Crosby, and Kotsay. Even Chavez doesn't scare one much, does he?
   48. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:10 PM (#2423221)
The OPS+ may be 99, but the Runs Scored is abysmal.
   49. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:11 PM (#2423227)
rLr, we know it sucks, but it hurts more when you say it.

rLr, we know it sucks, but it hurts more when you say it.

I wasn't picking on Oakland. My team has both Andy Phillips and Wil Nieves in the lineup today. Nieves is the worst hitter I have ever seen in my life. If anything, I was taking a swipe at Mussina, who hasn't been very good this year.
   51. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:14 PM (#2423242)
Its Swish and Cust, and then we just hope for Buck to get back from the DL and Barton to be called up.
   52. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:15 PM (#2423247)
Well, it doesn't matter who is in the Oakland lineup now. It's time for the Professor to do his thing.
   53. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:16 PM (#2423251)
My team has both Andy Phillips and Wil Nieves in the lineup today.

Can we interest you in a Dan Johnson?
   54. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:18 PM (#2423257)
Stewart isn't having a stellar night on the basepaths.
   55. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:18 PM (#2423259)
Can we interest you in a Dan Johnson?

Yes, as a matter of fact. You can have both Phillips and Nieves in exchange.

I was about to thank Geren for sticking one of his worst hitters in between the decent Stewart and this best hitters. Then Kotsay got a hit. Kyle Farnsworth is a miracle man.
   56. Danny Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:18 PM (#2423260)
rLr, we know it sucks, but it hurts more when you say it.

Exactly. They have 3 good hitters, a few averagish hitters, and a bunch of scrubs.
   57. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:20 PM (#2423265)
Damn it Swish! I gave you the good nickname!
   58. Danny Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:20 PM (#2423268)

Milton Bradley?

I smell SCUTARO! Do it Geren! Make it happen!
   60. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:21 PM (#2423276)
I take it Johnson finally recovered from that mutant pinkeye from hell that he had last year?
   61. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:21 PM (#2423279)
Yes, as a matter of fact. You can have both Phillips and Nieves in exchange.

Well I think we'd want something as useful as Johnson, say a decent reliever or A-level CF prospect.
   62. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:22 PM (#2423280)
Milton Bradley?

The only people I've ever met named Milton were Dominican.

I assume you mean a CF in A-ball? Dan Johnson for Seth Fortenberry or Colin Curtis. Done and done.

Seth Fortenberry or Colin Curtis

Eek. They're no better than our A-ball CFs.

Eek. They're no better than our A-ball CFs.

Alright. Austin Jackson. I know how the Oakland organization loves the toolsy unpolished prospects. He's off to a hot start in High A-ball, too.
   70. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:39 PM (#2423364)
How about Chris Britton?
   71. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:39 PM (#2423367)
How about Chris Britton?

Fatty Arbuckle? That's a possibility.
   72. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:40 PM (#2423371)
Is he injured or something? He was pretty good for Baltimore last year.
   73. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:42 PM (#2423379)
If they're healthy I'd do Jackson and Britton for Johnson.
   74. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:42 PM (#2423381)
Is he injured or something? He was pretty good for Baltimore last year.

He has been pitching very well for Scranton all year. He was briefly up, but didn't stick. He is likely a better pitcher than Farnsworth right now.
   75. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:44 PM (#2423392)
The fringe benefit of Britton is that he resembles Fatty Arbuckle in the facial features and is quite fat, as well.

The psychic benefit of Britton for me as a Yankees fan is that he represents the exile of Jaret Wright, who was just excruciating to watch.

Rivera seems to mean business this evening.
   76. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:45 PM (#2423393)
Scutaro better be ready...
   77. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:45 PM (#2423394)
This Rivera guy is pretty impressive.

No!
   79. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:46 PM (#2423403)
The fringe benefit of Britton is that he resembles Fatty Arbuckle in the facial features and is quite fat, as well.

As a St Louisan I understand the appeal of the John Daly physique. And of course, Arbuckle was a great pioneer.

You already gave up a homer to a lousy-hitting middle infielder on this team, Mariano. That was your quote. Don't go over.
   81. BourbonSamurai Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:47 PM (#2423406)
That's what happens when you don't use Captain Clutch.

How long will Gammons have to live down that Bobby Crosby MVP pick? As long as Beano Cook has had to live down the Ron Powlus multiple Heisman's prediction?
   84. Ivan Grushenko of HK in Tokyo Posted: June 29, 2007 at 09:49 PM (#2423418)
They hung in there and tantalized us to the end though. I guess that's good.
