An extra-base hit for Slappy!

Ohman vs. Wright? This isn't going to end well.

Ohman vs. Wright? This isn't going to end well.

For the Mets maybe; the two hits yesterday aside, Wright has been ice cold.
   104. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:11 PM (#2760649)
Why aren't they walking Wright?
   105. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:12 PM (#2760650)
Cox has his head up his ass, as usual.
   106. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:12 PM (#2760652)
Big RBI there from Wright.

Or not.
   108. CrosbyBird Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:12 PM (#2760654)
Wow, Beltran is hitting the ball hard today.
   109. Barry Gibb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:14 PM (#2760656)
Wright has been ice cold.

You fail to remember how bad Will Ohman is.
   110. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:16 PM (#2760659)
Guess it didn't matter. Castillo would've scored on Beltran's deep fly out.
   111. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:23 PM (#2760668)
Suckenweiss.

GREAT CATCH!
   112. CrosbyBird Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760669)
Church bailed Beltran out there. I miss Milledge, but Church has been a pleasure to watch field.
   113. Lassus Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760670)
Beltran probably would have caught that anyhow. ;-)
   114. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760671)
Stupid Shea.
   115. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760672)
CHURCH!!!!
   116. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760673)
Church is a really good player.
   117. Barry Gibb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:24 PM (#2760674)
At least Tex looks to be coming out of his routine April funk.
   118. BTF's left-wing cheering section (formerly_dp) Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:25 PM (#2760675)
SS shouldn't face righties. Ever. Especially Francouer and Texeria, the best two in the lineup. The case for letting Willie go begins there IMO. He almost blew the lead letting SS stay in after allowing the double...
   119. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:26 PM (#2760678)
Tex had been struggling against LHP so that combined with the fact that Sosa is a HR machine gives Randolph some leeway here.
   120. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:30 PM (#2760683)
Remember all those Delgado is done articles?
   121. CrosbyBird Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:30 PM (#2760684)
Against a lefty, too. If Delgado actually starts hitting again, this team is going to score piles of runs.
   122. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:30 PM (#2760685)
Was Wright telling him NOT to go there?
   123. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:31 PM (#2760686)
I want it noted that I had confidence in Delgado when few else did. It's early, but I expect him to hit.
   124. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:32 PM (#2760687)
Cub fans were right. Ohman is terrible.
   125. Arb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:33 PM (#2760689)
This fan/team relationship thing is so over-played. Enough.
   126. CrosbyBird Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:33 PM (#2760691)
Tex had been struggling against LHP so that combined with the fact that Sosa is a HR machine gives Randolph some leeway here.

And two lefties after Tex as well.

Sosa definitely was not the move. I could see going with Sanchez because having Texiera as the tying run at the plate is likely the most dangerous situation the Mets will face for the rest of the game.
   127. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:34 PM (#2760692)

I think he should have done it not for the fans that were booing him yesterday and cheering him today but those that were cheering for him today and cheering for him yesterday.
   128. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:34 PM (#2760693)
Delgado is too good of a hitter to just to fall off like that.

Minaya needs to fix LF though. We have to be the only team in the league who hasn't gotten a HR from that position.
   129. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:35 PM (#2760697)
I could see going with Sanchez because having Texiera as the tying run at the plate is likely the most dangerous situation the Mets will face for the rest of the game.

Also, Sanchez would be working for a third straight day which isn't good.
   130. Lassus Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:37 PM (#2760700)
I'm going to disagree with Darling here. I really believe that Delgado probably didn't BELIEVE he deserved a curtain call for one good game. I think Darling and Cohen are way off with what they think is going on.
   131. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:39 PM (#2760703)
Carlos didn't give Heilman support because he wanted to make the fans like him. He did it because he wants to give Heilman some confidence.

Delgado is not a guy who is going to be affected by the fans.
   132. Arb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:44 PM (#2760710)
Delgado is not a guy who is going to be affected by the fans.

Exactly, could not agree more.

We all go to these games, half the people booing are either not paying attention, drunk or just goof balls to begin with. The media loves to take that group and call them the fan base. It's just not that signifiant.
   133. Lassus Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:52 PM (#2760718)
Boy, Wagner really likes to make us nervous.

Well, ok, a solo HR isn't that bad here.
   134. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:55 PM (#2760721)
Boy, Wagner really likes to make us nervous.

I hope this sarcasm.
   135. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:55 PM (#2760722)
You're gonna let Blanco hit?!
   136. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:57 PM (#2760724)
Taking care of business, working overtime.

I had as much chance as Blanco there.
   137. haplo53 Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:57 PM (#2760725)
Well, I'd rather be happy than right.
   138. Lassus Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:57 PM (#2760726)
"We're going to lose at least 2 out of 3 against the Braves."

Wah wah wah.

Fun game. Be nice to keep it up, of course.
   139. Lassus Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:59 PM (#2760728)
I hope this sarcasm.

That Prado hit to the track didn't make you nervous yesterday?

I think I got nervous today because I had a flashback to the 1-run lead.
   140. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 03:59 PM (#2760729)
I have to say that I really thought the Mets were going to get swept after they lost the first game of the series. With Santana going tomorrow, the Mets look like they could be getting some momentum going.
   141. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 27, 2008 at 04:00 PM (#2760730)
Wagner's basically been unhittable so far this season.
   142. PreservedFish Posted: April 27, 2008 at 04:04 PM (#2760737)
There are two types of losses. There are the games that you just lose. And there are the games that you lose in a manner that confirms every fear you have about the team.

The Mets had been doing a lot of the second lately. This was the opposite, a win in which the strongest effort came from what you consider to be the weakest links.
   143. haplo53 Posted: April 27, 2008 at 04:53 PM (#2760768)
Wah wah wah.

I was wrong. No need for snark.
   144. Conor Posted: April 27, 2008 at 05:18 PM (#2760785)
I'm going to disagree with Darling here. I really believe that Delgado probably didn't BELIEVE he deserved a curtain call for one good game. I think Darling and Cohen are way off with what they think is going on.

Late to the party so this probably won't be read, but I agree with this. I think Delgado has too much pride in himself to take a curtain call after the way he has struggled this year for just one good game.

What were Darling and Cohen saying? He didn't do it because he wanted to stick it to the people booing him or something like that?
   145. Chris Dial Posted: April 27, 2008 at 05:35 PM (#2760794)
