Ahahaha! Barton hasn't been with the A's long enough to know he shouldn't swing early in the count! Ahahaha!

Idiots.

I pray to the baseball gods that I get to see a guy with a .730 OPS lead the league in RBI.

He totally doesn't deserve to get out of this without giving up a run, but I'll take it.

It's clear from the last three days that the baseball gods are listening to A's fans.

The Orioles have run themselves out of a half dozen runs so far, and the A's are poised to sweep the Orioles on the strength of 19 singles (many of the bloop and infield variety) and zero extra base hits.

Hey, Tubby, the plate's that way.

More smoke and mirrors success so far today, it looks like.

(Smoke and mirror success continues for Joe Blanton apparently, too.)

Ahh, Jay Payton.

Wait did Ryan Sweeney just almost hit a home run. Ryan Sweeney?

Suzuki!

Raising his ISO to .004.

I hate that Thorne calls a 2-run homer a "2-RBI homer."
   14. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:14 PM (#2772641)
Wrong guy comin' out of the dugout to visit Joe...
   15. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:16 PM (#2772648)
Blanton really hasn't had it much this year.
   16. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:20 PM (#2772652)
Ay-yay-yay.
   17. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:27 PM (#2772659)
Gift-wrapped opportunity to pinch-hit here.
   18. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:29 PM (#2772661)
And Geren sits on his hands.

To fine effect. But still.
   19. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 05:29 PM (#2772662)
John Joseph!

Snow cones all around.
   21. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:01 PM (#2772716)
Andrew Brown making things interesting again.
   22. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:01 PM (#2772717)
For the love of Leo Nunez, get out of this thing.
   23. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:02 PM (#2772719)
Bah.
   24. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:04 PM (#2772722)
BAH.
   25. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:04 PM (#2772723)
Andrew Brown, with a marvelously bad performance.
   26. DKDC Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:04 PM (#2772725)
That was unexpected.
   27. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:07 PM (#2772726)
Andrew Brown had to blow up sometime. He's just not that good a pitcher.

I think the Dallas Braden strikeout of Nick Markakis qualifies as more surprising.
   28. Klutts! Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:09 PM (#2772731)
Why not bring in Street or Casilla (only 16 P last night) since tomorrow is an off day. I guess I just don't really understand bullpen usage.
   29. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:15 PM (#2772739)
I don't think Bob Geren does, either.

Big Hurt coming up with the bases loaded though.
   30. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:18 PM (#2772740)
Frankly, I might be inclined to use Davis here. GIDP avoidance is of utmost importance, and there's not too much value in power.
   31. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:19 PM (#2772741)
Well done John Joseph II.
   32. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:24 PM (#2772745)
Where'd those two pitches miss? Retire, you fat ####.
   33. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:35 PM (#2772760)

Or, y'know, Denorfia, considering Davis was in the game for defense.
   34. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:37 PM (#2772763)
Or Murphy, who inexplicably ran for Thomas and then moved to left. Did Denorfia die?
   35. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:40 PM (#2772769)
Hahaha!
   36. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: May 07, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2772771)
The old "Walk the number nine hitter on four pitches, then fail to throw strikes to the leadoff man, keeping the at-bat alive long enough to pick the runner off and escape the inning" gambit.

Thanks, Lance. Enjoy the rest of your career in the minors.
