BOS (30-18) at TOR (27-22) - 7:07 PM EDT

BOS: Clement (4-4, 6.31 ERA)
TOR: Halladay (6-1, 2.77 ERA)

At first I was going to reflexively rip Boston for having a Memorial Day night game… then I saw it was in Toronto, where all those poor Canucks had to go to work today. Suckers.

Meh, we had last Monday off.

Still, I'm surprised that Toronto's at home today. I figure they should be on the road every memorial day and July 4th, and home every May 2-4, Canada Day, and Civic Day (first Monday in August). Although apparently the Jays aren't always thrilled about having to play at home on holiday Mondays, since half of Toronto is out of the city on long weekends at their cottages.

This should be an easy one for the jays. Hallady is back to true form, and Clement is coming off of a rough start against the Yankees. As for a sweep, that depends mightily on how Chacin fares coming off of the DL tommorow and whether or not Ted Lily can carry over a dominating start against Chicago. Should be a good series.

I'm surprised the Sox have won 5 of 8-- seesm more like 1 of 8. I'm even more surprised that the RS/RA is 48/41 BJs, if I'm doing my math right.

Sox have pretty long odds (at least in my head) tonight. I'm pretty much writing this one off right now. I wrote off the Kazmir/Wells game, too... but this one seems even more lopsided on paper. Toronto's a scary team.
   5. PJ Martinez Posted: May 29, 2006 at 05:05 PM (#2042592)
That should say 3 of 8, of course-- Jays have won 5 of 8.

Per the WEEI flagship, Youks is back to the top of the order tonight, with Coco batting EIGHTH. Interesting!

The Sox haven't shaken the Jays yet. Of course, Halladay is about due for his annual Toronto-fan-hope-crushing-half-season DL stint any day now.

That's the first-pitch strike Clement has thrown. This team can hit. He can't afford to fall behind like that.

I've heard the song Phil. Its ridiculously good. If you go to WFMU's websute and do a search with the band's name, you can hear a 7 song "live" performnance by the Strokes in studio from 2000 or so on the "Cherry Blossom Clinic" radio show's archives, when they were still only the hot new NYC band. If you're a fan, its worth it.

It was a B-Side here to "Hard to Explain" in 2001. So I had those songs before the album and knew 'Is this It' would be special. The Song that took the 9 spot on Is this it in the USA isa crappy song as well, a true b side...

How many friekin homeruns does Vernon Wells have against the Red Sox this year? seven hundred? A-Rod needs some of whatever voodoo juice he's drinking.

Considering he was carrying close to a 9 ERA the ast month, that was pretty fantastic, really. His slider looked a lot better. I still don't trust him at all.

you still havne't apologized for those comments regarding me and a certain serial killer.

Look, he just thinks you should change your name to something other than "Joel Rifkin." It has sinister connotations.

that catch was insane.

A Rod has two home runs of the Red Sox this year. One a tie breaker of Schilling and on a three run blast that was the differnce last week.

I must have missed the Memo on A Rod sucking...

The hate he catches is bizarre and unreasonable.

It aint our night.

JP Riccardi basically more or less said that Matty's not the type to handle the pressure pitching for Boston today on WEEI.

You fingers have a temper, I've never met you, Phil. Look me up if you ever get back to NY. I'll get ya' hammered.

Gregg Zaun is having the most outlandishly good season I can think of.

Phil doesn't have a temper. He's just Australian.

I'm glad to see Molina hasn't been very good this year. He's one of my least favorite players.

Gameday doesn't seem to have Timlin listed in Boston's bullpen. Is there something wrong with him?

Does anybody else in the majors have a better catcher situation than Toronto?

I went mad at one of the staff last week and she was a little upset. The manager goes..."Don't worry about Phil, he is just a big teddy bear"
