Finally, a nice AB by Pedroia.
   3. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:20 PM (#2776201)
Tight zone again tonight it looks like.
   4. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:22 PM (#2776202)
Yeah, that'll help Daisuke not walk guys. ::sigh::
   5. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:34 PM (#2776206)
So uh... is this the year that Youk actually hits 25 homeruns or so?
   6. Benji Gil Gamesh Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:34 PM (#2776207)
Youk is locked in, baby. Maybe his 2Bs are turning into HRs just a little later than for most guys.
   7. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2776215)
Why exactly are they throwing fastballs to Gomez?
   8. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:52 PM (#2776216)
And balls. ####, this kid has no patience and they're walking him.
   9. Benji Gil Gamesh Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2776218)
Serious question: is the ball they use in Japan the same size and weight as in MLB?
   10. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:54 PM (#2776219)
Carlos Gomez has 3 walks the whole ####### season.

Papelbon and Matsuzaka have managed to walk him twice in his last three plate appearances.

Just awful.
   11. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:54 PM (#2776220)
(Had three walks, prior to yesterday. Up to five now thanks to our brilliant pitchers.)
   12. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:57 PM (#2776223)
Same size and weight, but the cover is made from a different material. And I belive the seams are slightly lower as well, which is why very few japanese pitchers throw sinkers.
   13. Sane Joe Bivens, Obnoxious fan of Other Team Posted: May 10, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2776226)
#9...In America, the balls are more round.

Best. Changeup. Ever.

Hi Phil
   17. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:21 PM (#2776241)
I missed the Lamb hit - did it come off the end of the bat?
   18. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:22 PM (#2776243)
Drew might have missed that
   19. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:23 PM (#2776244)
Evening, Phil.

Youks has gone insane, huh?
   20. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:23 PM (#2776246)
What's wrong with Delmon Young? He hasn't been driving the ball hard all year.
   21. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2776247)
Nice to see Lowrie in there instead of The Human Error.
   22. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2776248)
Lugo grounds out there.
   23. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2776249)
what a waste of an out
   24. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:26 PM (#2776250)
I'm OK with the bunt. Ellsbury has to flash that every now and then to make the infielders uneasy.
   25. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2776252)
Youks has gone insane, huh?

I drafted mr April / may and he is keeping my useless team above water.

Nice squander guys - this team is awesome
   26. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2776253)
Kevin - some Celtics thoughts??

Can they win over there? I am confident that they can pull Game 3 or 4 for sure. What about you?
   27. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:31 PM (#2776254)
Why the #### was Ellsbury sacrificing? If he's going to bunt, he has to at least make it a bunt that he can try and be safe on.
   28. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:32 PM (#2776255)
Can they win over there? I am confident that they can pull Game 3 or 4 for sure. What about you?

Of course. Outside of LeBron, the Cavaliers aren't much of a team.
   29. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:33 PM (#2776256)
Well, it isn't looking so good right now (celtics.) I was really hoping Wallace would be out again tonight.
   30. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:33 PM (#2776257)
Great to see that the lead off double will score here - this team can #### you in the blink of an eye.
   31. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:35 PM (#2776260)
It's early, Sven. The Cavs got an early lead on Thursday too.
   32. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2776262)
I agree, but the defense is looking much better already than it did the other night. Which due in large part to Wallace being back in.
   33. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2776263)
Wallace can't put the ball in the ocean, though.
   34. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2776265)
Fantastic. Ahead of the hitter, cookie down the pipe. Matsuzaka has no ####### clue where the ball is going.
   35. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2776266)
Damn.
   36. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2776267)
Damn, look how easy the DP is without Lugo playing.
   37. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:39 PM (#2776268)
You can run on Coco Crisp.

According to some KC announcer guy.
   38. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:39 PM (#2776270)
If Lugo were playing, there would be runners on second and third with one out now.
   39. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2776271)
Of course the run scores - why did he bunt Jacoby? - that killed the inning
   40. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:41 PM (#2776272)
Does anyone know if Perkins typically throws as hard as he has tonight? A lefty that throws 93-94 usually has a lot more hype.
   41. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:41 PM (#2776273)
What is the KC announcer guy doing broadcasting the Twins and Red Sox game?
   42. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:42 PM (#2776274)
That was my question too.
   43. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2776276)
Youkilis is en fuego.
   44. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776277)
Why do the Sox always have so much trouble with nondescript young lefties?
   45. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776279)
youks is on something!
   46. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776280)
Smokin'.
   47. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776281)
Apologies, rain delay in KC had me confused.

Also, I'm terribly biased against flyover country and it's all the same to me.
   48. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776282)
Youkilis needs to be hitting 5th.
   49. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2776284)
please drive him in
   50. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2776285)
first pitch hack - what a useless #### he is sometimes
   51. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2776286)
At least Matsusaka has been reasonably efficient tonight. He should be able to pitch the seventh.
   52. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2776287)
Perkins was actually a very highly regarded prospect a couple years ago.

I believe he's been derailed by injuries.
   53. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2776288)
Get on base, Crisp.
   54. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2776289)
Crisp demolished that.

These are words I have never before uttered.
   55. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2776290)
Holy ####
   56. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2776291)
OK, you didn't get on base.

But I'll take it.
   57. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2776292)
Man, I was going to call for a Lowrie home run too.
   58. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2776293)
That was a ####### off balance swing too.
   59. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2776294)
Lowrie!
   60. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2776295)
In retrospect, Perkins probably shouldn't have started the 7th.
   61. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2776296)
What are the odds Lugo's headache just got a lot worse?
   62. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2776297)
There is no manager that wouldn't have started the 7th with him. Hell, I would have let him start the inning with the intent of him at least getting through the lefty Ellsbury.
   63. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2776301)
I think the headache might be DL bad. Kind if like Betemit getting DLed for pink eye.
   64. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2776302)
Can the headache be trade him to Toronto bad? I hear they need a SS now.
   65. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2776303)
Not a good night for the Celtics. They're getting killed.
   66. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2776304)
Can the headache be trade him to Toronto bad?

???

That's some sentence there, Dan.
   67. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2776307)
What are the odds Lugo's headache just got a lot worse?

Hopefully it will explode.

Anyone think Theo will make a run at Furcal? He only signed a 3 year deal, right?
   68. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:04 PM (#2776309)
I don't think any team will take on Lugo's contract without getting some talent in return.
   69. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2776310)
Hopefully Lowrie's proving that Theo can fill the position in-house and use the money elsewhere.
   70. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2776311)
Agreed.
   71. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2776312)
If Everett would have walked I would have exploded
   72. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2776313)
Celtics are looking remarkablely better since LeBron sat. Hopefully they'll close it up bit now before it gets totally out of hand.
   73. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2776314)
Dice finishing nicely here.
   74. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2776315)
If they can get it around 10 at the half, they should be able to win.
   75. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2776317)
SFFA

   78. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2776321)
Is Papelbon available tonight? He's had to throw a lot of pitches over the past few days.
   79. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2776322)
Phil, what does SFFA mean?
   80. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2776323)
Toronto's getting clobbered. What a mess they are. This year could cost J.P his job.
   81. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2776325)
Plus Wells turned out to have a broken wrist.
   82. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2776326)
I'll take it. Four solo shots...odd night for the team that leads the league in OBP.
   83. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2776329)
Wow. Lowell with a shot now!
   84. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2776331)
I think Mike Lowell is pretty good at baseball
   85. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2776332)
Bass's periph numbers are pretty weak.
   86. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2776333)
Phil, what does SFFA mean?

Standup
Fastball
Fails
Again

:)
   87. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2776334)
SFFA, Phil?
   88. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2776335)
Celts climbing back into it.
   89. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2776337)
With a three run lead, do you let Daisuke come back out? The pitch count isn't horrible.
   90. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2776338)
Thanks, Phil.
   91. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2776339)
Toronto's getting clobbered. What a mess they are. This year could cost J.P his job.

Considering this is easily their best chance to make the playoffs in ages, IMO
   92. DKDC Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2776340)
With a three run lead I'd bring Dice-K back out.

But with a two run lead, I'd go to the bullpen.
   93. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2776341)
No. You have to think longterm. Have Oki come in.
   94. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2776342)
oops, two-run lead. my bad
   95. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2776343)
Two-run lead, and Mauer then Morneau due up. Of course Kevin would go to Javier Lopez here :)
   96. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2776344)
LOL.

I'm thinking more Timlin, Dan. :)
   97. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2776345)
Nice, Manny.
   98. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2776349)
Great inning by Oki, par usual.
   99. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2776352)
Lowrie make Lugo even more irrelevant.
   100. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2776356)
Pedroia!
