Hate Manny hacking, but love it when he actually runs it out.
   102. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2776359)
Another bad night for Manny. He's down from batting .370 to .301.
   103. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2776360)
Let's see if Lowell can ice it here.

If another runs scores, do you trust the game to someone like Hansen?
   104. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2776361)
Lowrie could go hitless now for a week and i wouldn't care
   105. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2776363)
I think a 4 run lead means Hansen for the 9th, but on a short leash with Papelbon still ready.
   106. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2776364)
I'd love to see Youks up with the bases juiced.
   107. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2776365)
Either Hansen or MDC. But I doubt Tito feels the same way.
   108. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2776366)
Got my wish.
   109. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2776370)
Hansen's warming, Sven.
   110. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2776372)
That might answer my earlier question about Papelbon's availability if he comes in even without the extra run.
   111. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:43 PM (#2776373)
Will he actually strike anyone out?
   112. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2776375)
Splitter actually split!
   113. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2776376)
Will he actually strike anyone out?

hope so
   114. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2776378)
Hitting 94 on CBS sportsline.
   115. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2776380)
97 on that one.
   116. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2776381)
Swings and misses still hard to come by so far.
   117. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2776382)
Early returns don't look good on the putting away hitters thing.
   118. IronChef Chris Wok Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2776383)
I feel this is a decent opportunity for Papelbon to fix himself
   119. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2776384)
There you go. That was a devastating splitter.
   120. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2776385)
Good to see the splitting working ,especially since he doesn't appear to have his best FB.
   121. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2776386)
There it is.
   122. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2776387)
Splitter working*
   123. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2776390)
Hitting 95 consistently now.
   124. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2776391)
If that was a slider, it had absolutely no bite.
   125. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2776392)
That looked like a hagning slider for strike two to Young.
   126. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2776393)
Swinging strike. Gooood...
   127. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2776394)
Broken bat. Better....
   128. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2776395)
It was a mediocre enough slider that it worked almost like a changeup, which is what got Young to swing through it.
   129. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2776397)
I almost thought it WAS a changeup.
   130. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2776398)
Where's Nick Punto? Lamb blows.
   131. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2776399)
####### joke dome.
   132. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2776400)
You have got to be ####### kidding me.

Why the #### didn't Lowell or Youkilis end up making that play?

Lowell never saw it, it looks like on the replay.
   133. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2776401)
Dammit.
   134. IronChef Chris Wok Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2776402)
Is it just me, or does Papelbon need a 3rd good pitch to add to his repertoire?
   135. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2776403)
They lost it in the ceiling.
   136. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2776404)
I almost thought it WAS a changeup.

Yeah, which would have been a brand new pitch for him!
   137. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2776405)
First swing through on the fastball?
   138. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2776406)
Very slider happy tonight.
   139. Chip Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2776408)
There you go.
   140. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2776409)
That's it. Nice.
   141. kevin Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2776410)
Thanks for the chatter, guys. Now to go watch the Celts.
   142. Dan Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2776412)
It might be an error in their algorithm, but Fangraphs has Papelbon throwing 3 change ups in 2006. He was also supposed to have one when he was a starter in the minors, as I recall.
   143. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2776415)
good win - goodbye lugo and goodbye by fellow chatterers
   144. Marcel Posted: May 10, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2776416)
He didn't learn the splitter until spring training a couple years ago when Schilling worked on it with him.
