Wathcing the Rays/Angels game.

They're talking about the importance of range factor in evaluating defense and how range helps the pitching staff.

So that's progress.

Apparently Cora is starting at SS tonight. What was the roster move to activate him?
   3. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 07:33 PM (#2777044)
It seems Bryan Corey was traded to the Padres for a PTBNL.
   4. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2777051)
Jed Lowrie was sent down.
   5. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 07:49 PM (#2777055)
That's stupid as hell.
   6. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 07:52 PM (#2777056)
Has a knuckleballer ever thrown a no hitter? Wakefield just might tonight. Gomez might corkscrew himself into the ground swinging at one. Delmon Young might hit one out of the infield. I'm looking forward to tonight's game.
   7. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2777060)
Why the #### would they send Lowrie down? Ugh.
   8. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:03 PM (#2777063)
I can't believe I have to listen to these schumcks for the next three hours.
   9. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:04 PM (#2777064)
Why no Manny-avoiding 3 consecutive games on turf?
   10. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2777066)
Sore hamstring.
   11. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2777067)
Supposedly his hamstring is bothering him. I'm okay with it with Wakefield pitching anyway. The defense in the OF is nice to have with him going. Then again, all of our staff are flyball pitchers so it's helpful on most days.
   12. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:09 PM (#2777068)
Alex Cora? Nooooooo!
   13. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2777069)
Another unknown pitcher, which is usually a bad sign for the Sox. Can they find a way to scrape through with just enough solo HRs, like they did yesterday?
   14. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:11 PM (#2777071)

   15. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:11 PM (#2777072)
Way to let the lineup see the unknown guy's stuff, Jacoby.
   16. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2777073)
And that is the only problem I have with Ellsbury leading off. Need to take some pitches to start off the game.
   17. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2777075)
jacoby garciaparra
   18. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2777076)
When did they start putting BA by count up on the ESPN game line? That's cool.

Pedroia sucks in 2-2 counts.

I noticed it last week during teh Cubs-Cards game - its cool, agree

You just hacked at ball four, small guy.

Hello DL, I'm afraid.
   24. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:18 PM (#2777083)
Nice job to Youk!
   25. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:18 PM (#2777084)
Tough pitch.
   26. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:19 PM (#2777085)
Ypuks with the f-bomb for the masses...
   27. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:19 PM (#2777086)
Manny Ramirez is out of the starting lineup for Saturday's game with right hamstring soreness. At least the bumps and bruises are allowing the Red Sox to keep Coco Crisp involved and content. He's starting in center, with Jacoby Ellsbury in left, tonight against the Twins.
   28. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:19 PM (#2777087)
Ooops, guess they shouldn't have Youk miked up in the dugout. He must have learned that language from his mom.
   29. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:19 PM (#2777088)
Squander!
   30. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:20 PM (#2777089)
The Sox' left fielder felt the hamstring tighten up on him when he hustled down the first-base line and beat the back end of a potential inning-ending double play, keeping alive a Red Sox rally.

Manager Terry Francona said that in watching the play develop he thought he saw Ramirez tighten up a little as he got to the bag and past it. But it wasn't until Ramirez called him early today that he knew Ramirez wouldn't be able to start.
   31. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:20 PM (#2777090)
Another tough pitch...
   32. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:21 PM (#2777091)
Isn't this the second game in a row that ESPN has been dumb enough to switch the to camera/mic in the dugout after one of Youks at-bats?
   33. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:23 PM (#2777092)
Two strikeouts against a guy who has trouble striking people out. Typical "we've never seen this guy before" performance from this crew.
   34. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2777093)
Mauer with no home runs this year???

WTF
   35. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2777094)
Lugo would have ###### that up
   36. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2777095)
Wow, Morgan is dumb.

Every other sentence contains some sort of factual error.
   37. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2777096)
Manny tends to be one of the worst offenders against the guys they haven't seen, so maybe this is good game for him to miss.
   38. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2777097)
the 2-0 looked like a strike
   39. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:26 PM (#2777098)
Six straight "fastballs" to Tolbert, then a curve to get the flyout.
   40. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:26 PM (#2777099)
It seems like everything takes longer on ESPN.
   41. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2777101)
I like Coco out there.
   42. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2777102)
And he went fastball 0-0 to Mauer? A bit strange.
   43. Lassus Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2777103)
Mauer with no home runs this year???
WTF

Mauer's career HIGH for HR in a season is 13, so I don't see that as particularly odd.
   44. Brazilian Red Sox Fan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:32 PM (#2777105)
Drew grounds out to second. What a surprise.

   49. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:34 PM (#2777110)
Man, why the #### was Lowrie demoted a day after going 3-4 with a 2B and a HR. So lame.

I'm dying to hear the reason why after they said he wouldn't go down after Cora came back anyway...
   52. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2777115)
ESPN is getting as bad as Fox at missing pitches.
   53. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2777116)
There goes the no hitter
   54. Brazilian Red Sox Fan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2777117)
Really smart move by the Sox to put Piazza in a Cash mask when his spot is up.
   55. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2777118)
Lucky break - caught Morneau sleeping.
   56. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2777119)
Well that was lucky
   57. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2777121)
How'd he not get to second on that?
   58. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2777122)
Ah, so this is that sort of game.
   59. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2777123)
So it will be at least 2-0 MIN, wonderful...
   60. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2777124)
At least.
   61. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2777125)
Sweet 1-2 pitch.
   62. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2777126)

Adam Everett?!?
   68. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2777136)
Ok, when Everett takes you deep, it's basically time to call it a night.
   69. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2777137)
Damn Wakefield, so much for my ERA and WHIP today. Him and Gavin Floyd did a nice job taking care of that.
   70. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2777138)
Adam Everett hit a home run?

   72. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2777140)
Off the fastball.
   73. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:46 PM (#2777141)
Tim Wakefield- Mr. I Randomnly Will Simply Just Suck So Get Over It.
   74. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:46 PM (#2777142)
Jacoby just missed that - damn

The is a dogshitt performance on all accounts already
   78. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2777148)
Off the fastball.

Because the man's main pitch has stunk.
   79. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2777149)
He's thrown a couple good curves. Of his three pitches, those are the only ones he's been able to locate well.
   80. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2777150)
All Wakefield novelty wore off for me in about 1996...
   81. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2777151)
If Tavarez is on the team, he might as well be warming as soon as it's apparent Wakefield doesn't have the good knuckler. Unconventional pitchers call for unconventional strategy.
   82. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:54 PM (#2777152)
well... at least he got on.
   83. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2777153)

   86. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2777156)

Come on Youkie.
   91. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2777161)
Morgan actually making a decent point: there was a ton of topspin on that ball. It dove like a sinker as it reached Cuddyer.
   92. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 08:59 PM (#2777164)
####
