####### nancy. he's seen TWO pitches all night. hey, nancy, here's a piece of advice: when a guy is struggling, don't help him out by swinging at the first pitch you see.

How about cutting the commercials so we can see the whole game?
   103. konaforever Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2777179)
Now we just need to load the bases 4 more times and get 1 run, and we're even!
   104. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2777180)
Could that be the umps' fault--giving the go-ahead too soon?
   105. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2777182)
that was a strike
   106. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2777183)
Lester planning to pinch hit, apparently.

Cash is having a little trouble.

Cash having a lot of trouble.

Wow, this is more painful than last nights celtics game...
   113. Fly and the Family Phone Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2777191)
This is just..ouch. I think I'm switching to something on the DVR soon.
   114. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2777192)
Twins - 9 baserunners converted into 7 runs.
Red Sox - 6 baserunners converted into 1 run.
   115. Fly and the Family Phone Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2777193)
Ellsbury's leg looks like it's tightening up. I don't think he's "hurt" in the sense of more than 12 hours of pain, but it's too bad Manny is out for the night. I hope he doesn't pull something playing through a bruise.
   116. Fly and the Family Phone Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2777194)
The "Curt Schilling" in this bloody sock BBTN ad looks about as little like Curt Schilling as a 40 year old white guy can look.
   117. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2777195)
The "Curt Schilling" in this bloody sock BBTN ad looks about as little like Curt Schilling as a 40 year old white guy can look.

Uh, it's Steve Phillips. All of these commercials have the BBTN crew playing the roles. Ravech plays Joba in the "gnats" one, for example.
   118. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2777196)
I like tha ads, At least the first few times I seem them.
   119. Fly and the Family Phone Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2777197)
Oh. I hadn't noticed that. Also, I don't like Steve Phillips, so I ignore him when possible.
   120. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2777198)
Delmon Young is just horrible. His defense sucks and he can't hit. What the hell happened to him?
   121. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2777199)
Reason #5768 why it's good the Twins are planning to abandon this place.

Cash money!
   124. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2777202)
Kevin Cash - Can he hit .400?
   125. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2777204)
Cash's BABIP must be pretty ridiculous by now.
   126. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2777205)
Time to start giving Cash the Bonds treatment. IBB him!
   127. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2777206)
The Big Tease.
   128. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2777207)
I actually felt confident when Cash came up - wow
   129. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2777208)
Now that it's first and second, no outs, the squandering will begin.
   130. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2777209)
Hey look, a line drive right at a fielder!
   131. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2777210)
I will say this for the Twins - they have 3 amazing OF arms out there.
   132. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2777211)
Tolbert that was horrible, you had no chance to get him. Hold onto the ball.
   133. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2777212)
Miller just called Pedroia "fleet-footed".
   134. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2777214)
Amazing--not bad luck!
   135. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2777215)
"The fleet-footed Pedroia." HA!

That sure was the only way Cash was scoring from second base on anything less than a double.
   136. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2777218)
"the fleet-footed Pedroia"?

Way to do your homework Miller.
   137. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2777219)
The big tease is well and truly underway now teddy
   138. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2777220)
Joe Morgan: "This is not a spot where Pedroia is going to steal third"

Um, when the hell exactly is it that Pedroia is going to steal third?
   139. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2777221)
He was fooled by the 4 SBs on Pedroia's resume this year.
   140. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2777222)
I don't understand this perception that some people have of Pedroia being fast. Is it because of the Eckstien comparisons? Because I don't understand those either.
   141. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2777223)
What's annoying is that this starter is not all that good.
   142. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2777224)
That was a strike.
   143. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2777225)
Joe Morgan was a short second baseman who was fast. Dustin Pedroia is a short second baseman. Therefore, he is fast.
   144. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2777226)
National announcers always assume he is fast.
   145. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2777227)
Announcers factually wrong AGAIN, as Miller described one run as already having scored before Pedroia slid in.
   146. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2777229)
Great slide.

2 runs score, Miller? Look up from your 6th meal of the day and watch the game your're calling?
   147. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2777230)
Twins defense doing Blackburn no favors this inning.
   148. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2777231)
Miller had no idea how many men were on base.
   149. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2777232)
Miller is an idiot - did he just say 2 runs scored?
   150. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2777233)
He's embarrassed by it, and is now making fun of himself.
   151. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2777234)
**you fat f*ck**
   152. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2777235)
Lowell has managed to dig himself an 0-2 hole in every single one of his ABs, which have all come with men on base.
   153. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2777236)
Well, Lowell is at least making him work here.
   154. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2777237)
2 more LOB. Racking 'em up as usual.
   155. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2777238)
SQUANDER!
   156. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2777239)
Seven men left on base through 4 innings.
   157. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2777241)
Nice even the manager has some nice words to say on national TV.
   158. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2777243)
Goodness, do I love Tito. And Ortiz.
   159. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2777244)
Ortiz hamming it up behind Tito was pretty funny. As was the "I told him before I'd kick his ass" comment.
   160. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2777245)
Sniff. Sniff.
   161. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2777246)
Is it wrong of me that I find Joe Morgan's commentary on this game insightful?
That makes me feel guilty for some reason.
   162. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2777247)
Well, if you consider Dustin Pedroia fast, you might find him insightful. You might also be blind though.
   163. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2777248)
That was low , real low for a called strike 3.
   164. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2777249)
Nice even the manager has some nice words to say on national TV.

Sox say #### the nanny.
   165. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2777250)
Technically, the squander is when you get less runs than expected, AFAIK.

Bases loaded, nobody out--0 or 1 run is a squander of 1 or 2. Etc.

Right?
   166. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2777251)
No, Morgan said several things about mechanics of the game that seemed interesting.
When he complimented Pedroia on baserunning when Lamb caught Youkilis's line drive for example
   167. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2777252)
He wanted to roll that to Youks, but then thought better of it.
   168. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2777254)
Is it wrong of me that I find Joe Morgan's commentary on this game insightful?

No. He undoubtedly knows way more about the game than everybody on this board combined. He just sucks as a color guy, IMHO.
   169. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2777255)
We desperately need a clean inning here
   170. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2777256)
When will the announcers stop using wins as a criterion for a good season for a pitcher?
There is a perfectly good trad stat for pitchers: ERA, use that instead.
   171. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2777257)
#### me sideways
   172. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2777258)
I actually like QS's.
   173. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2777259)
I don't know that ERA should be defined as a perfectly good stat, but I do agree that it is much better than W-L record.
   174. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2777260)
Julian Tavarez sucks a whole lot.
   175. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2777261)
Tavarez is aggravating.
   176. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2777262)
i hate this ugly ####. trade his ugly ass to Colorado please
   177. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2777263)
This is a, um, key juncture...
   178. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2777266)
3-1 count - ####
   179. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2777267)
Crap.
   180. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2777269)
Thanks, Mike!
   181. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2777268)
C'mon Lowell, you need to come up with that.
   182. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2777270)
Of course.

All with two outs, nobody on.
   183. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2777271)
Delmon Young is ####### horrible.
   184. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2777272)
Pink bats are lucky for twins hitters. The garish color is inducing a lack of command in opposing pitchers
If I was them, I'd keep using pink bats.
   185. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2777273)
Delmon is starting to remind me of Sean Burroughs.
   186. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2777275)
The anti-squander:

Two straight outs to begin the frame, then any sequential, non-solo HR tally, or tallies.
   187. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2777276)
Hey look, Drew took a pitch!
   188. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2777278)
And then still grounded out weakly to the right side.

sigh
   189. The Ghost has no pregnant children Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2777279)
I'll bet that MLB won't let them use these bats except one day a year. Otherwise, some hoitter who had a big day would keep using them, anmd I've never seen that.
   190. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2777281)
How's the Twins bullpen this year?
   191. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2777282)
That was not a strike - terrible ump for both teams tonight
   192. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2777283)
Not as good as the bullpen used to be for them, but still above average.
   193. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2777284)
If the Sox are to make up a 4 run deficit, Blackburn needs to stink it up next inning.
   194. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2777285)
One thing we know--Aardma will walk a guy in his inning.
   195. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:03 PM (#2777289)
"Instant Analysis" - now they're selling a sponsorship on generic baseball truisms that you've heard from color guys 5 million times before.
   196. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2777290)
Gomez has been surprisingly good. I thought he was being rushed and would stink it up in the majors, but that has not happened
   197. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2777291)
Wrong.
   198. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:05 PM (#2777293)
Ellsbury is better right now, but is two years older, and probably Gomez will be better by age 24
   199. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:05 PM (#2777294)
.300 OBP isn't stinking it up?
   200. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2777295)
I'm just shocked that the Red Sox haven't managed to walk Gomez yet tonight, let alone that Aardsma didn't when he got to 3-1. In the first two games they seemed to be acting under some mandate to double the season walk total in one series of the hackiest hacker who ever hacked.
