Third page!

.300 OBP isn't stinking it up?

700 OPS, great CF defense and lots of SB is at least a league average player - very good for a 22 year old
   203. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:07 PM (#2777299)
Damn, that was hit pretty hard.
   204. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777300)
Good Little Ballplayer.
   205. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777301)
I am shocked, shocked that Yankees-Mets will be the interleague game of choice for ESPN next week.

Proof that Blackburn isn't very good: surrendering an XBH to Alex Cora.
   206. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777302)
Cora - small sample size king.
   207. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777304)
HACK!
   208. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777305)
There's still time.
   209. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2777306)
Great CF defense might be overstating his present level of play, from what I have seen.

1 pitch jacoby - what the ####?
   211. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:09 PM (#2777310)
I was more confident of a comeback against the Tigers pen in the Buchholz disaster the other night than I am tonight.

Then again, look how that turned out, so why bother with the pain?
   212. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2777312)
Would Reyes piching to Big Papi be the most combined weight in a pitcher vs. batter combination? David Wells and somebody? Steve Balboni and somebody.
   213. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2777313)

Similar things were said about Delmon Young last year. How's that working out right now?
   214. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2777314)
WTF are you swinging at, small guy? That ball was at your ankles!
   215. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2777315)
Mini-squander.

The fleet footed Pedroia gets thrown out after Lamb triple pumps the throw to 1st base.
   217. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2777317)
Morgan has good insight into this pitch recognition/approach line of analysis. I will grant him that.
   218. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2777318)
could not hit it to a better place dusty - another squander on the way...
   219. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2777319)
Delmon Young is still young
   220. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2777321)
And another run that we can't get.
   221. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2777322)
that's the ballgame
   222. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2777323)
The rookie shows something and K's Big Papi. Surprised they didn't bring Reyes in.
   223. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2777324)
Why no K Zone tonight? Too busy promoting our other sponsored in-game toys?
   224. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2777325)
And seemingly getting worse because he lacks any sort of plate discipline. And Gomez is even worse.
   225. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2777326)
Not a strike. Umps are often fat, and always lazy.
   226. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2777327)
that was wide - #### ump
   227. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:15 PM (#2777328)
Poor read by Ellsbury there, or perhaps a function of the HBP earlier. He didn't turn on the jets until too late.
   228. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2777329)
David Aardsma has pitched great for a month and a half already. (not a jinx, not a jinx)
When will Tito start trusting him more?
   229. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2777330)
This is an interesting challenge for Aardsma: the guy who wants to walk the house against a team that refuses walks.

That was a pretty awful effort by Ellsbury. Lose it in the light bank?
   230. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2777331)
Timlin - the human white flag

1.558 WHIP for a setup guy doesn't say "great" to me.
   232. konaforever Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2777333)
Joe Morgan just said "bare hand job"
   233. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2777334)
Good Little Ballplayer.
   234. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2777335)
Aardsma: 2.33 ERA, 3.98 FIP. Pretty good
   235. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2777336)
I would say he's been pretty good, and certainly a worthwhile use of a slot in the bullpen. He just has no spot pitching in 1-2 run games.
   236. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2777337)
Horrible night for Lowell.
   237. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2777338)
jesus christ - guy can field
   238. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2777339)
Come on guys. Fess up. John Miller's pretty tough to listen to. He always sounds surprised by the most mundane things.
   239. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:25 PM (#2777341)
Aardsma's been passable.

Coco stands in at .313 .333 .438

Vin Scully could be on now and I'd be annoyed, with the way this game is going.

Citing the Twins' treatment of David Ortiz as a good thing is not smart
   244. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:26 PM (#2777347)
Finally we get some K Zone. And Coco was right to #####.
   245. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2777348)
Ball 15 to Coco.
   246. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777349)
Coco!!!
   247. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777350)
Whoa, homers in back-to-back games for Coco!
   248. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777351)
anti-squander?
   249. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777352)
Coco on a Youks-like power streak!
   250. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777353)
I am completely and utterly dumbfounded.

I actually said "What?!" out loud. Good on you, Coco!
   251. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2777355)
Crisp showing what a genius I am!
   252. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2777357)
Crisp now has a better OPS than Ellsbury
   253. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2777358)
wow!
   254. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2777359)
That swing on the 0-1 is a harbinger of why Cash is unlikely to stay on his hot streak for very long.
   255. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2777360)
anti-squander?

Yes.
   256. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2777361)
Cash made outs in two consecutive ABs? Unpossible!
   257. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:30 PM (#2777363)
There is absolutely no need to trade coco with manny getting older and drew being drew.
   258. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:30 PM (#2777364)
Coco and Jake projected very similarly this year with the bat, IIRC.

As did Lugo and Lowrie.
   259. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2777365)
Cash made outs in two consecutive ABs? Unpossible!

He's just building up tension for the 9th inning.
Kevin's going deep tonight

What is it about guys who attended Usc named OJ? Well, what???
   261. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:32 PM (#2777368)
This team never gives up , gotta love em.

Still a pretty big tease though
   262. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2777369)
I think I'd rather drink and watch a game with, I dunno, Paul Lynde and Charles Nelson Reilly than those "Let's Vent" Meatheads.
   263. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2777370)
Too bad Lowrie isn't on the bench to PH for Cora in the 8th.
   264. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2777371)
Timlin? Surrendering after we pulled to within 2?
   265. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2777372)
I think that's supposed to be "Kevie's going deep tonight."
   266. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2777373)
Timlin can still throw 92, sez ESPN. The question is can he throw 92 and command it still, or has age made it a strain.
   267. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2777374)
I really hope that Timlin is on a short leash.
   268. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2777375)
(I assume Manny isn't available to hit, but perhaps he is?)
   269. tfbg9 Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2777376)
Ouch. Maybe he's done.
   270. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2777377)
the human white flag I'm telling you

Jesus ####### Christ. Send him to the glue factory.
   272. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2777379)
Way to keep us in the game Timlin.
   273. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2777380)
I think this is more HR than the Twins have hit all month up to today.
   274. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2777381)
No leash is short enough for Timlin.
   275. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777383)
I wish that weren't utterly predictable.
   276. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777384)
Coco's now up to .321 .341 .481. He's never had numbers that good at this point in the season, not even in 04 and 05.

Not our night, fellas.
   277. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777385)
Like I have said a million times before - #### off and retire
   278. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777386)

Cash is going to be money tonight
   279. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777387)

   280. konaforever Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777388)
DFA TIMLIN!
   281. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2777389)
Proof that Pedroia has no speed.
   282. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2777390)
Even if Manny is available to pinch hit, is there anyone on the bench to come in defensively in the bottom of the inning?
   283. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2777391)
Delmon Young is so ####### horrible.

Coco's now up to .321 .341 .481

He clearly is one of those players who need to be motivated by fighting for PT and trade rumors!!! It worked for him in CLE, too!

   288. Chip Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:40 PM (#2777396)
yes Phil
   289. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2777397)
Let's ignore this game and talk about finally getting to see the Coco that we thought we were getting. .481 would be his highest slugging ever. He only has 3 BB in 80 ABs though.
   290. ekogan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2777398)
Lifewater has the ugliest mascots. At least Geico was never dumb enough to make its gecko shake its booty

Whaddaya mean? He just lowered his season's ERA, No?
   292. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2777401)
I don't understand how the #### Lowrie gets sent down when COra is the only backup IF and Lugo has a mild concussion.
   293. Dan Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2777402)
Yeah Darren, when I saw that line that was my thought. .020 'isolated patience' is low, even for him.
   294. Darren Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2777403)
Weren't they just saying the other day that they wanted to keep Lowrie up regardless?
   295. Marcel Posted: May 11, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2777404)
Oh #### me, it looks like Timlin might be coming back in next inning.

Farrell discussing Timlin's retirement plans with him. Must be hunting season for something, somewhere.

GLB!

He's not coming back out is he?
