Tim McCarver drinking games are very dangerous to your health.
What is it with so many hit batsmen today?
   202. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844693)
Where was the leap, Derek? Where was the leap?

Guess he doesn't care as much as he used to.
   203. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844694)
Coco - fly out to the outfield, not the infield, dumb###
   204. Mattbert Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844695)
Do the balls being used in this game have no seams on them or what? Jesus.
   205. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844697)
Very un-Jeter.

Leap! Leap into the crowd!
   206. Alan S Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844700)
Listening to the radio feed as I watch. Sterling was slowly getting louder and louder before the ball reached the stands, just getting ready to explode if the Great Captain caught it.
   207. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844702)
That was a good pitch, Coco. Keep your head in the game.
   208. kevin Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844703)
Heck, I'd try a bunt here.
   209. JH (in DC) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844706)
Fans have to get out of the way there.
   210. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844707)
Terrrrrrible AB.
   211. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844709)
####. Now Varitek. K him, and then Lugo's up. Not good.
   212. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844710)
It's up to Varitek and Cora to bring the runners in.
Oh-oh
   213. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844712)
Oh boy. Varitek with the bases loaded...
   214. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844713)
terrible 0-1 call
   215. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844714)
Sorry, Lugo
   216. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844715)
That's it, Tek. Take take take.
   217. kevin Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844716)
Coco overanxious. I hate him in pressure situations.

Cash the only one left on the bench?
   218. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844717)
I said take!
   219. Alan S Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844718)
Varitek sucks.
   220. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844720)
Very clever of Rivera to lock in the out by loading the bases for Varitek. Risky to have to pitch to Coco first, but he made it work.

god, Varitek sucks.
   221. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:51 PM (#2844721)
It's up to Lugo
Game over
   222. kevin Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:52 PM (#2844722)
Swings at 2-0. Christ, Tek. You're the ####### captain.
   223. Mattbert Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:52 PM (#2844724)
Hopeless. Absolutely hopeless.
   224. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:52 PM (#2844725)
you ####### suck varitek - game over
   225. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:53 PM (#2844726)
swings at 2-0!! ends the game
   226. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:53 PM (#2844727)
oooh, questionable at best.
   227. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:53 PM (#2844728)
That was a ball, not strike 2
   228. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:53 PM (#2844729)
Rivera's getting a Glavine-esque zone, but this is still a big fail by the Sox.
   229. kevin Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844730)
An now we're left with Mr. Ineptitude.
   230. PJ Martinez Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844731)
then he gets it right.
   231. NJ in DC (Now with Law School!!!) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844732)
That was more of a strike than the previous pitch...
   232. Mattbert Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844733)
Another strike called 4 inches off the plate.
   233. Matt Clement of Alexandria Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844735)
####.
   234. Alan S Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844736)
Sterling got excited.
   235. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844737)
godd*mn teases
   236. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:55 PM (#2844739)
####### umpires. Rivera is good enough that you don't need to ####### expand the strike zone.

####### Varitek. Way to swing at a pitch AT YOUR EYES ON 2-0 WHEN YOU CAN'T HIT ####.
   237. kevin Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:55 PM (#2844740)
And, of course, mighty Julio has struck out.
   238. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:55 PM (#2844741)
coco - tek and lugo showing when push comes to shove that they suck
   239. The Ghost is Too Big to Fail Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:55 PM (#2844742)
That was a Mitch Williams save.
   240. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:56 PM (#2844744)
Also of note is that Lugo couldn't hit two pitches that were right down the ####### middle. God he's useless. He was swinging for the ####### fences when we just needed a single.
   241. Mattbert Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:56 PM (#2844745)
Brilliant gamesmanship by Rivera to plunk Youkilis, knowing he was the last guy in the lineup with a prayer of getting a hit off him.
   242. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:56 PM (#2844746)
i ####### hate tek - what a useless ####
   243. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:56 PM (#2844747)
If Casey or Moss was available to pinch hit for Varitek, the game would've been tied.
How hard is it to hit a sacrifice fly?
   244. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:57 PM (#2844752)
Oh, and why the #### did Tito pinchrun with Moss rather than save him to PH for Lugo?
   245. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:58 PM (#2844753)
swings at ball 3 - ball ####### 3 - ####### hell
   246. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:59 PM (#2844754)
He couldn't PH for Lugo because there was no IF on the bench.
Could've PH for Varitek or Crisp though
   247. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:59 PM (#2844755)
I hope Rivera doesn't get credit for that. That was solely because those three hitters suck balls. And the ump helped too.
   248. Mattbert Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:59 PM (#2844756)
Who would've played SS in the bottom half of the inning, Biff?
   249. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:59 PM (#2844757)
On the bright side, Manny ties the HBP in a game record. He should be proud!
   250. ekogan Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:01 PM (#2844758)
Red Sox's last 7 losses come by 1 or 2 runs.
That karma got to balance out some time
   251. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:02 PM (#2844760)
Who would've played SS in the bottom half of the inning, Biff?

Me? I didn't think that far ahead, I just ####### hate Julio Lugo.
   252. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:03 PM (#2844761)
coco could not even hit into a double play which would have helped
   253. Chris Dial Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:21 PM (#2844786)
I cannot believe Rivera got out of that.
   254. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:25 PM (#2844792)
I cannot believe Rivera got out of that.

Again, look at who the batters were.
