I think it was Lackey who Clay faced in his first ever start. Hopefully he can locate his fastball today...

Ewww Cora at SS tonight instead of Lowrie.

Jesus - what a waste of an at bat

I just saw uggla hit into a bases loaded double play - carrying over his all star form.
   5. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2864290)
I saw that too.
   6. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2864292)
(I have TB - Toronto on the main screen and Oak-NYY and Phi-Fla on the small screens in the 3 game view in Mosaic)
   7. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:30 PM (#2864296)
B.J. Upton is rocking the one sleeve like Ellsbury. I think Crawford might too.
   8. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:46 PM (#2864329)
Game for me today on are

Detorit @ Baltimore
Spankees over A's
Jays - Rays
Philly - Marlins
Mets - Reds
Tex - Twins

Some pretty bloody good games there as we get into the business end of the season.
   9. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2864332)
You use the 6 game view? I like having one game in the larger window.

Only when Sox are not playing - thens its down to business. With them on the main and three others - (easily my favourite view)
   11. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2864343)
I like the view with 2 others, I think the games are too small with 3 on the side.
   12. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2864344)
Burnett is dominating the Rays.
   13. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2864352)

1 run doesn't feel safe there though - but yeah
   14. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2864354)
Emil Brown really is the outfield version of Lugo. I hope for the A's sake he gets hurt or cut soon.

I should use that more often but don't won't too big a distraction when the Sox are playing it seems.

I should add - when the Sox are losing or playing bad - I switch back to 6 to try and forget about them.

Emil Brown - what a joke
   16. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2864366)
Jays really need to win this one. A comeback here could kick start another stretch of wins for the rays I feel
   17. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2864381)
THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR WALKING HINSKE
   18. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2864391)
You know the Jays announcers are clueless...

They were praising Burnett for walking E ####### Hinske in a one run game??? Saying how great it was that he gave him nothing to hit etc etc
   19. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2864394)
Honestly I don't mind seeing the Rays win, I think we'll beat them, and it would be cool to see them win the WC.

I much prefer the Rays in the playoffs instead of the yankees - both my comments were aimed mainly at the Jays mutts

Maybe I should start friending people from the site on Facebook. I don't really use it too much.
   23. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2864448)
The Angels are still batting Maicer Izturis 3rd? A guy with a .685 OPS?
   24. Joe C isn't Posted: July 18, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2864449)
I only happen to come across Dan Szymborski somehow and saw one or two othe rnames that I recognized and who I've interacted with at least a few times on the site in the 5-6 years I've been around. Basically, Dan, Larry Mahnken, and Phil (since he's a STist).

Big night for Clay - I'm nervous
   28. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2864476)
Lackey looking sharp early.
   29. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2864477)
Who are these Angels guys on Fox?

Sound different to the other mutts I'm used to?
   30. Joe C isn't Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2864478)
Dusty is the best.
   31. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2864479)
Someone other than Hudler and Physioc doing the game?

Damn, that was a nice play by Kendrick.
   32. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2864480)
Jesus - nice play
   33. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2864483)

Has to be - they have not called Lackey "Big John" yet
   34. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:18 PM (#2864490)
Why did Ellsbury dive and Manny chose a great time for a #### throw
   35. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:18 PM (#2864491)
Terrible, terrible location on that changeup to Kotchman.
   36. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2864493)
Throw strikes to the little #### Clay - sheesh
   37. bonifacio's got the good face! Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2864494)
How to describe that!?--Manny hustles over and then does the opposite of setting himself for the throw....
   38. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2864495)
Another terrible location on the changeup to Izturis, that he gets away with for strike two.
   39. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2864496)
Ugh.
   40. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2864497)
Buchholz just can't catch a break, can he?
   41. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2864498)
Backs up the terrible location with the changeup with terrible location on the fastball - up and in the middle of the plate.

Getting into a 3-2 count against Izturis in the first place was absolutely pathetic.
   42. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2864502)
Jesus - this is the Angels at their best
   43. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2864503)
Buchholz really got going on his run after that ball, huh?
   44. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2864506)
Clay rules in the first inning
   45. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2864507)
Two straight hanging curveballs to Torii on 0-2. More not good pitching, that he's gotten away with so far.
   46. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:25 PM (#2864510)
Three straight hanging curveballs to Torii, who just missed smoking the last one.
   47. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:26 PM (#2864513)
Funny pitch selection to Vlad as well - they were expecting him not too swing?
   48. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2864514)
0-2 to 3-2, because he's thrown nothing but badly located pitches since getting Hunter down in the count. Up to something like 7 straight bad locations.
   49. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2864519)
Unbelievable. Can't find the plate to save his life.
   50. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2864520)
Is that the longest at bat by an Angel this year?
   51. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2864522)
If he gives up a hit to this ####### corpse, I'll be fuming
   52. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2864523)
I thought I'd be glad when Colon was clearly out for the year.
   53. bonifacio's got the good face! Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2864524)
any of you guys think he's hiding an injury?
   54. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:32 PM (#2864527)
He has to get pulled; this many pitches in an inning is not good.
   55. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2864528)
An injury? No. I think he's just not capable of finding his release point consistently. Or tonight, at all.
   56. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2864532)
Excellent stuff so far especially to the power rich line up the Angel possess
   57. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2864533)
He's not hurt. He's just not adjusted to this new arm slot, I'd say.
   58. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2864536)
He needs to adjust in the minors, then, not the middle of a pennant race. Mussina pitched well again today, too. If he's actually going to have a good year, the Red Sox could find themselves out of the playoffs unless they have a good second half.
   59. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2864537)
As Remy points out, another terrible changeup location to Rivera, but bailed out with the foul pop.
   60. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2864538)
Where did that miss you ####### #### ump?
   61. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2864539)
~20 minute half inning?
   62. Chip Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2864541)
More dumb luck to escape.

It's a sign of how bad the Angels offense is that they were only able to dink and dunk their way to 3 runs against some of the crappiest pitching you'll ever see.
   63. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:38 PM (#2864542)
I don't think the Red Sox's 5th starter struggling means they're in danger of being passed in the standings by a team with Rasner and Ponson in the rotation.
   64. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:39 PM (#2864543)
Damn, off the bat I thought that would be a double. I guess I'm just too used to Manny's defense in left?
   65. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:40 PM (#2864544)

I have to agree
   66. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:40 PM (#2864546)
Manny not tanking there

God that article shits me
   67. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2864550)
The Dbacks apparently have co-opted the "Beat LA" chant.

YES! YOUK!
   68. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2864551)
Early returns suggest Youkilis might not bomb the 2nd half for once?

Better inning for Clay there
   74. Joe C isn't Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2864565)
A K per inning and 3 HR in 70 career innings so far. I'm not worried about Buchholz - I hope none of you are either.
   75. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2864568)
I'm not worried about Buchholz in the career sense or anything. I'm very high on him in the long term, but his inconsistent performance so far this year isn't encouraging.
   76. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2864569)
Goddamnit how does Ellsbury ground into a DP?
   77. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2864570)
I hope none of you are either.

Nope - would like to see some better at bats from Ellsbury though
   78. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2864571)
#### - we would have had a run without the ellsbury DP - sheesh
   79. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2864573)
Ortiz went 1-2 with 2 walks and another HR for Pawtucket. Why the hell does he need more rehab starts? Bring him back to Boston.

I typed mine before his double play as well. When he gets on base a few times a game we always seem to win

I don't think the Red Sox's 5th starter struggling means they're in danger of being passed in the standings by a team with Rasner and Ponson in the rotation.

Except that that team is the Yankees.
   83. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:05 PM (#2864582)
Ellsbury!
   84. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2864585)
Yeah, Vaux they're the Yankees. And their rotation is a mess. And their starting catcher can't throw, so they have to play their backup catcher most of the time. Jeter's bat has lost its pop, Cano is sucking, they've lost their starting DH for the year. And they have the toughest schedule by opponent's winning percentage left in the AL.

MANNY!
   85. PJ Martinez Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:12 PM (#2864588)
Look, Manny's tanking again.

Garrett Anderson? What the #### Clay?
   87. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:16 PM (#2864594)

Great Stuff Clay - Garret Anderson
   89. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:17 PM (#2864597)

Fireworks are so annoyingly stupid sometimes
   91. Vaux, A.B.D. Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:20 PM (#2864599)
The Angels radio broadcast missed the homer, too, but the broadcaster tried to make it sound like it was happening in real time. . . the only problem was that the crowd noise made the real situation obvious.
   92. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:24 PM (#2864603)
####### Kendrick.
   93. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:31 PM (#2864606)
Phil, LAW was claiming in the Lounge that Kotchman is slower than Casey. No ####### way that is true. Kotchman is slow, but not even remarkably slow. Casey is only half a step quicker than Bengie Molina.
   94. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:32 PM (#2864607)
No way - Sean Casey is remarkably slow

Sean Casey would have been thrown out there by Lowell...
   95. Dan Posted: July 18, 2008 at 11:34 PM (#2864608)
He would have been thrown out by a large margin on that play.
