The sad thing is that they've had midseason turnover at both GM and manager, and yet the use of Vidro hasn't changed a whit. If I were a USS Mariner regular, I'd be as apopletic as they are.

They had a hilarious thread yesterday about trading Washburn and Batista after their 'stellar' efforts vs. the Sox yesterday

Hopefully Daisuke can actually go after Ichiro and get him for once here.

Crisp isn't nearly as good in CF this year as last year.

I like Okajima vs. IbaƱez here, but I'd still be getting Papelbon up.

This is annoying. The tying run is at the plate, and there's no way this game should be at this point. This is a failure of offense.
   109. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:34 AM (#2869154)
Yeah Chip, story of this whole road trip. Getting men on base, but not scoring nearly enough of them.
   110. Chip Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:35 AM (#2869155)
Okajima's afraid to throw the split.

Agree 100%

Another Japanese pitcher unnecessarily goes 3-2 on Vidro the Suck.
   113. Chip Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:38 AM (#2869160)
Good pitch. Came in the strike zone, as he should have, but not too much of it to really be driven by a crappy hitter. Hopefully a confidence builder.

A couple insurance runs here to make Papelbon not needed would be pretty nice.
   115. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:51 AM (#2869169)
Or not.

OK, who is Theo Epstein sitting with, for those who are watching NESN - the longhaired guy in the 70s Sox batting helmet:

A) Some Seattle rocker he knows
B) Some former Yale classmate who works at Microsoft
C) Some former Yale classmate who works at Amazon
D) Some former Yale classmate who works at Microsoft AND Amazon AND plays in a Seattle band on the weekends
   117. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:57 AM (#2869175)
My vote is A.
   118. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:57 AM (#2869176)
That guy looked a bit older than Theo.

Touching gloves?
   120. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 12:58 AM (#2869179)
That is one disadvantage to playing two centerfielders. They both think they can call the other one off.

TA in some grad level comp. sci. course he took at Yale who got his Ph.D. and then went to Microsoft?

Are 9 pitches going to mean he's unavailable on the slim chance we have a lead tomorrow after facing Felix?

Need the sweep

I'm not big on Papelbon3 days in a row.
