I think Damon messed up in Toronto
   202. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2909391)
A clean inning from Lopez? Shocking. He even got a lefty out!
   203. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2909399)
Did Damon #### up another play Phil? He ###### up one in the 2nd inning or so.
   204. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2909402)
How did ARod get thrown out by Overbay at 2nd?!
   205. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2909404)
A-Rod just pulled a Casey and got thrown out trying to stretch a blooper into a double leading off the 9th.

I still expect Ryan to blow it.
   206. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2909408)
Golden sombrero for Giambi.
   207. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2909412)
Blooped right over Overbay's head, just barely landing fair, but Overbay did a good job of chasing it down as it rolled in the direction of the bullpen, sliding to stop it and then popping up to make an accurate throw that got A-Rod by plenty.

Game over. Ryan surprises me.

Gameday video for the RBI double in the 8th showed up. Damon did drop it.
   209. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2909414)
A Rod the goat again
   210. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2909420)
Anybody think Varitek has been playing better now that his divorce is public?

Read back over the thread - it's been a running joke all night.
   212. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:43 PM (#2909436)
same annoying wildness saved by clutchness Dice-K, huh?
   213. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2909439)
SO when are we going to start seeing Masterson used in close games in the 7th or 8th?
   214. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2909447)
He should be the third option instead of Delcarmen.
   215. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2909449)
Mora just loves fishing for that breaking ball with 2 strikes against the righties. Give Tek credit on that one for calling it again with a different pitcher on the mound.
   216. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2909453)
at least he throws strikes.
   217. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2909455)
Where did the first pitch to huff miss?
   218. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2909457)
Nice.
   219. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2909458)
yankees back with the pathetic offense.
   220. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2909466)
i can't believe the Angels chose this week to tank against the Rays.
   221. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2909468)
I have to work early and I don't anticipate blowing this one. Night all.
   222. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2909472)
Masterson back out for the 8th?
   223. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2909476)
i can't believe the Angels chose this week to tank against the Rays.

It really doesn't bother me at all, I'm content with the Sox winning the WC. And I hate the Angels, and kind of like the Rays.

As long as we keep winning - the Yankees wont make the playoffs - silver lining??

I'll take the wild card if it means the Yankees miss the playoffs - rays are home - good luck to them .
   225. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2909479)
Well, the Twins are too close for comfort so I'm hoping not to back into the playoffs.
   226. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2909487)
how did Coco go there??

this is a joke
   227. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2909493)
Maddon jsut got ejected for some reason
   228. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2909496)
Ellsbury with the multiple hit night. Steal?
   229. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2909497)
Just?

He got ejected for arguing a call at first base that was a pretty ######## call, I think. The ump said Upton took a move towards second but it didn't look like he did at all.
   230. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2909498)
Yup.
   231. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2909501)
He's clearly on edge about Upton.
   232. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2909508)
It had nothing to do with being on edge, it was a stupid call. Upton stepped to avoid the ball that Santana missed catching, and the umpire ruled he started towards second, so when Mathis got the ball and tagged Upton he was called out.
   233. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2909514)
he went.
   234. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2909519)
Uh, who the hell plays first base now?

Lowrie to second, Youkilis back to third. Cash to first?
   235. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2909521)
He went. This umpiring crew is a joke, though. Marquez baited him, and then Davidson had rabbit ears.
   236. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2909522)
Oh, I forgot that Bailey was on the team
   237. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2909523)
Ellsbury can really motor.
   238. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2909526)
Ellsbury lost his footing coming around third and still beat that easily.
   239. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2909527)
I'm glad Youks got a hit there - keep walking papi you idiots!!!
   240. jjdnyc Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:01 PM (#2909528)
Silver and gold....silver and gold....
   241. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2909534)
I'd let Masterson pitch this inning too.
   242. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2909540)
Tossing Pedroia was just absurd. he was walking away from the argument.
   243. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:07 PM (#2909547)
Nice.
   244. Dan Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2909564)
That was an interesting route by Payton.
   245. Chip Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2909604)
Delcarmen must think he's never going to get another break. He makes two great pitches and gives up two mistake hits. Markakis was actually surprised that ball even had a chance to stay fair.
   246. kevin Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2909613)
Game.
