Kotsay just hit one to the warning track in right
   204. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2920673)
Kotsay yanked an inside cutter to left but just got under it, and Abreu caught it a step or so in front of the wall.
   205. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2920675)
Sorry, to right, as Phil says.

More bad news, the price of Orange Juice hit an all time high yesterday, $5.90 a gallon.

I just tuned in (to the online gamecast). Moose has been great this year, hasn't he?
   208. Gamingboy Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:12 PM (#2920679)
Well, they made Gameday better since I last used it. It's all... 3-d like.

Explain why Alex Cora is the best option there?
   212. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:14 PM (#2920686)
How many gallons to a litre?
   213. Gamingboy Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:14 PM (#2920687)
Going to the bottom of the ninth. Gee, the LAST REGULAR SEASON RED SOX-YANKEES GAME AT HISTORIC YANKEE STADIUM IN THE BRONX (C) is living up to it's billing. I guess.
   214. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:15 PM (#2920689)
About .35 gals/l
   215. The Marksist Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:15 PM (#2920690)
HACK!

'Course, it was a strike.
   216. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:16 PM (#2920691)
Sorry, about .25 gal/l.

0-2 count wasted.

There goes the game.

damnit Nady - start playing down to your real ability!
   219. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:19 PM (#2920699)
That was, uh, lucky.
   220. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:19 PM (#2920701)
Moose has been incredible. Just so fun to watch.

Looks like he has 5 more starts. Mo blew a terrible save, and they had a 5 run lead in the 4th in Pittsburgh when the game was called for rain.

He has a tough road to 20 now.
   221. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:21 PM (#2920705)
How did Gardner get to 2nd?
   222. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:21 PM (#2920707)
SB.
   223. jacksone (AKA It's OK...) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:22 PM (#2920708)
nm, gamecast caught up to the action
   224. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:22 PM (#2920710)
Gardner is extremely fast. If only he knew a way to get to first besides pinch running.
   225. Gamingboy Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:22 PM (#2920711)
Why is Masterson still in?
   226. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:23 PM (#2920712)
Why is Masterson still in?

Because he's by far the most likely guy to induce the DP from Pudge?
   227. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:23 PM (#2920715)
Did Kay just say Kotsay has an average arm?
   228. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:24 PM (#2920716)
2-2 has been a strike repeatedly today.
   229. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:24 PM (#2920717)
That's terrible.

Now you need the K, which means Papelbon.

Bases loaded now. Outfield in.
   232. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:25 PM (#2920720)
he was ####### out on the pitch before
   233. Textbook Editor Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:25 PM (#2920721)
I mean, how on earth to do you walk Pudge?
   234. Schilling's Sprained Ankiel Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:25 PM (#2920722)
Come on! This bullpen is pissing me off.
   235. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:26 PM (#2920723)
Walking I-Rod in that situation is really, really poor. Almost as poor as the location miss by Okajima to Giambi.
   236. Mike Hampton's #1 Fan Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:26 PM (#2920724)
How the ####ing #### do you walk ####ing Ivan Rodriguez here? Does Masterson think it's 1998?
   237. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:26 PM (#2920725)
I bet Pavano could get a bunt down he spent a lot of time in the NL, they should PH for Giambi and run a safety squeeze.
   238. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:26 PM (#2920726)

Even in '98 he was impossible to walk.
   239. Mike Hampton's #1 Fan Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:28 PM (#2920728)
True -- but at least you had an excuse if you did.
   240. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:29 PM (#2920730)
I wish the Yankees had a midget on their 25 man roster. For this very situation.
   241. The Marksist Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:30 PM (#2920731)
poor
   242. Mike Hampton's #1 Fan Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:30 PM (#2920732)
I think Kay just messed his pants.
   243. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:30 PM (#2920734)
0-2 hit

what a terrible pitch
   244. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:30 PM (#2920737)
Oh good, an 0-2 hit surrendered. On another badly missed location. Varitek set up inside, Papelbon throws it outside.
   245. Textbook Editor Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:31 PM (#2920739)
Again, we had a chance to kill them off and did not. Maddening.
   246. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:31 PM (#2920740)
It annoys me that we never put this pathetic team away. But #### it - we took two and thats what we wanted

They've been killed. This is not a turning point.
   249. Mike Hampton's #1 Fan Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:32 PM (#2920744)
This team is going nowhere in the playoffs with this bullpen, even if they make it. No. Where.
   250. Best Dressed Chicken in Town Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:33 PM (#2920745)
I don't want to imagine how much Kay is yelling right now. Because, of course, I suppose the action couldn't speak for itself.
   251. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:33 PM (#2920746)
They've been killed. This is not a turning point.

Yeah, the Yankees are absolutely done, and have been for 3 weeks.
   252. Dan Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:35 PM (#2920750)
Disappointing way to to end up losing this one, but you have to be happy taking 2 of 3 as a Sox fan.
   253. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:35 PM (#2920752)

Neither Okajima or Masterson showed well today.
   254. Answer Guy Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:39 PM (#2920759)
Hate to see this one get away and spoil a good Lester start, but they still took 2 out of 3, which is about as good as one could reasonably expect.

What I am not liking is that this is the latest installment in a long line of bullpen FAIL. They're going to need to go on an offensive hot streak of ridiculous proportions to make any noise in October, assuming they clear the playoff bar.
   255. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:51 PM (#2920773)
So much for the happy talk after his side session the other day: Beckett scratched from tomorrow's start.
   256. Chip Posted: August 28, 2008 at 04:56 PM (#2920784)
And ... Beckett being sent to see Dr. Andrews. Which Tito tries to spin as a positive.

I don't understand that 9th inning at all.Why walk atsui?
