There we go. I hope we can manage to win one in Boston!

Papelbon reminds me of every meathead jackass I've ever met in my life.

That postgame reaction shot of Vlad was... that of an old man who has had enough.

Game.

Well, that didn't go how I thought it would, pretty much from the start. But we got the result.

The Angels seem like they've brought a knife to a gun fight.

Stand-up game ender.

Perhaps. But he dances. And he's a really good reliever.

I don't contend that. His antics just smack of a neanderthal with a glove.
   811. tfbg9 Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:31 AM (#2967599)
I actually kind of like the Angels.

See, tfbg9, no worries!

I agree on quality of the Rays-Red Sox matchup. LA-Philadelphia should also be entertaining. All the fraudulent teams are out, leaving the real ones in.

Unlike say K-Rods antics.... because he's black?

How do you swing at 2 SUFB's in one AB?
   815. tfbg9 Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:32 AM (#2967603)
Great plays by Youks. Great, considering the situation. Worthy of...dare I say...

Jeter?

The Eck had some annoying antics, if you were his victim.

I don't think that's an entirely fair statement. The Cubs have looked terribly out of place, but as someone who watched them closely all season, trust me, they are far from frauds.
   818. tfbg9 Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:34 AM (#2967606)
The Cubs are the best team in the NL.

Eduardo Perez, Analyst. Really? This is amusing to me.

Same here, Textbook Editor.

My only regret is that Dice failed to get his W.
   822. IJason Varitek Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:37 AM (#2967610)
The defining fan shot of the game, for me, was the pissed off-looking guy, with his lady friend smiling at her phone while taking a picture of the two of them.
   823. Dan Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:38 AM (#2967611)
Really, you guys are watching baseball tonight instead of TBS's show?
   824. Textbook Editor Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:39 AM (#2967613)
Joe Maddon's 1950's glasses also amuse me, but in a good way. Ozzie Guillen has never amused me.
   825. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:39 AM (#2967615)
822: There seemed to be a TON of Angels "fans" in the crowd that looked utterly clueless about what was unfolding before their eyes. Most of them were women; I recall after one critical Angels strikeout with runners on, they showed a small group of fans. One was a really attractive woman who was smiling and looking like she was having a great time. I figured she was a Sox fan, but then noticed she was wearing an Angels hat.

ESPNews, Dan.
   827. Textbook Editor Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:40 AM (#2967618)
ESPNews so I can see the interviews live, Dan.
   828. tfbg9 Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:40 AM (#2967619)
I love baseball.
   829. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:41 AM (#2967620)
I love the Angels "Team Leaders" graphic they just flashed.

HR: 44 tied with 0
wins: 44 tied with 0

Why 44?
   830. Textbook Editor Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:41 AM (#2967621)
If I could get NESN I'd be watching that. Honestly, I'd pay an extra $30-$40 a season for ExtraInnings if I could get full access to the NESN pre- and post-game.
   831. Textbook Editor Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:43 AM (#2967622)
Not because of the hosts, FWIW, but so I could get faster access to the interviews. It takes too long to post them to NESN.com, and by then I'm asleep.

I still remember there was a game in the 2002 WS during which there was a dude who sat right next to the mic in Anahiem, yelling at the "ref".

That was an embarassment.
   833. Greg Franklin Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:43 AM (#2967624)
"Fradulent" may be unfair. The Dodgers were given little chance, but the combination of Manny plus some excellent starting pitching makes them better than an 84-win team, and a better match for the Cubs than most people thought.

That G2 last night was pretty damn bad on the Cubs part, though.
   834. Biff, Red Sox Jinx Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:44 AM (#2967625)
That almost just looked like a smile from Drew!
   835. Textbook Editor Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:45 AM (#2967628)
Dodgers-Phillies would be a very interesting series.
   836. Fancy Pants Handle Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:45 AM (#2967629)
Heh. Cal called out the booth for the "Dice-K gives up his fair share of hits" comment.
   837. Dan Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:47 AM (#2967630)
Good call on NESN, I don't get ESPNnews.
   838. The Milton Bradley Effect (Voxter) Posted: October 04, 2008 at 01:50 AM (#2967632)
Reporter asks a dumb question about "tension" in the dugout, Tito mis-hears it, then gets it explained, and says:

"Did I look bad?"

Then he gets it. That was funny.
