   1. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 04:59 AM (#2419437)
I have a bad feeling about this game.
   2. rembini06 Posted: June 27, 2007 at 01:15 PM (#2419775)
Reverse jinxes may not work with Reyes either.
   3. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 02:42 PM (#2419935)
Reverse jinxes may not work with Reyes either.

You're probably right. A negative and a negative gives you a positive...
   4. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 06:05 PM (#2420124)
They're on ESPN again? Sweet.
   5. Bob Koo Posted: June 27, 2007 at 06:39 PM (#2420178)
Ugh... why Easley instead of Gotay?
   6. rembini06 Posted: June 27, 2007 at 06:48 PM (#2420198)
Is it a triple negative when Gary Bennett's batting sixth?
   7. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 06:53 PM (#2420208)
Blow Duca's in the two hole for good, isn't he?
   8. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:00 PM (#2420226)
NOOO! CHRIS BERMAN!
   9. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:01 PM (#2420230)
I hate rain delays.
   10. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:02 PM (#2420232)
Jesus. Berman looks like he's already downed a few.
   11. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:04 PM (#2420236)
So torn. I can watch ESPN on my TV, but with Berman and Phillips. Or I can watch SNY on my laptop.
   12. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:10 PM (#2420257)
Go with SNY.
   13. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:11 PM (#2420261)
7:40 start they're saying.
   14. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:17 PM (#2420295)
I don't think this post 9/11 game should be aired as often as SNY has aired it.
   15. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:22 PM (#2420323)
Too much? I love that game and I've written about it a lot before.
   16. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:27 PM (#2420337)
Maybe I'm just cranky. I love the game too, but seems like it's always on. It's gonna lose it's appeal.
   17. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:28 PM (#2420342)
Plus, it never gets to the Piazza homerun in this rain delayed games!
   18. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:29 PM (#2420343)
this, these, same thing.
   19. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:30 PM (#2420352)
Yeah, I can see what you mean. I never understand why they play those classic games during rain delays. Don't they have other programming to air?
   20. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:31 PM (#2420356)
Here's a neat story for you guys while we're waiting. Not baseball related.
Starburst Fruit Chews are exactly as their name would indicate: chewy. But one Michigan woman says the candies are so chewy, they should come with a warning label.

Victoria McArthur, of Romero, Mich., is suing Starbursts' parent company, Mars Inc., for more than $25,000 for "permanent personal injuries" she claims she sustained after biting into one of their yellow candy in 2005.

"I don't know, maybe about 3 chews and it literally locked my jaw … and it just literally pulled my jaw out of joint," she told MyFoxDetroit.com.

McArthur's lawyer, Brian Muawad, says the candies caused her to develop a condition known as temporal mandibular joint dysfunction. McArthur says she has had trouble chewing, talking and sleeping since the incident.

Muawad says McArthur offered to negotiate a settlement with Starburst's insurer to pay for her rehabilitation, but the company said no way. A spokesman for Mars refused to comment.

McArthur says she just wants to make sure nobody else meets the same end she did when she decided to indulge her sweetooth.

"I don't want to see anybody else have to go through what I have gone through from eating a piece of candy that was supposed to be soft chew," she said.

Don't they have other programming to air?

Like something with Fran Healy?
   22. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:42 PM (#2420379)
I miss Fran and Ted.

Seriously.
   23. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:43 PM (#2420380)
Oh yeah, I almost forgot (and you all will wish that I did), this is PERFECT for a rain delay. If any of you are tripping, I don't suggest watching this though. Or I highly suggest it. Either way.

Gimme the Mermaid
   24. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:44 PM (#2420383)
Ted Robinson. Man. He was bad.
   25. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:50 PM (#2420395)
You can tell just by looking at him that Fonzie was about 40 years old when this game was played.
   26. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:53 PM (#2420401)
Good thing I decided to start Carmona tonight on my fantasy team.
   27. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:53 PM (#2420403)
I don't miss Ted, but I do miss Fran. He was an idiot, but he was family.
   28. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:56 PM (#2420410)
So when is this starting?
   29. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:59 PM (#2420415)
Shawn with the shimmy.
   30. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 07:59 PM (#2420416)
Haha, Green waving his arms around on the bench, trying to dance with Gomez. Whitest man alive.
   31. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:02 PM (#2420423)
Why is Easley starting against a righty?
   32. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:02 PM (#2420425)
And we're on!
   33. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:03 PM (#2420429)
Why is Easley starting against a righty?

Because Sam's right to an extent. Willie isn't as bad as some managers, but he does favor veterans somewhat.
   34. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:04 PM (#2420432)
Btw, here's how the pitching matchups should shake out this weekend:

Friday
Pelfrey vs. J.D. Durbin (2-4, 4.55 ERA in AAA)
Maine vs. Hamels

Saturday
Sosa vs. J.A. Happ (1-2, 4.02 ERA in AAA)

Sunday
Perez vs, Kyle Kendrick (2-0, 5.00 ERA)
   35. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:05 PM (#2420435)
Wow, the Mets really should win that series against the Phillies. And they need to.
   36. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:06 PM (#2420437)
Btw, here's how the pitching matchups should shake out this weekend:

I say we'll score about 6 runs.
   37. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:10 PM (#2420442)
I think Glavine should walk Pujols every time tonight.
   38. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:10 PM (#2420444)
I agree.
   39. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:11 PM (#2420448)
And the pop gun strikes again!
   40. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:11 PM (#2420449)
That was some throw.

Still, #### you Blow Duca.
   41. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:11 PM (#2420450)
Blow Duca with a nice throw, odd.
   42. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:13 PM (#2420456)
I'd like you guys to know that Russell Martin got 25 more votes today, thanks to me.
   43. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:14 PM (#2420458)
Great at-bat Jose.
   44. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:14 PM (#2420459)
And there's a bad omen.
   45. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:14 PM (#2420460)
Thanks for reminding me I need to go vote. It ends soon, I think.
   46. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:14 PM (#2420462)
I really hope Blow Duca isn't on this team next year.
   47. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:15 PM (#2420464)
Voting ends tomorrow.
   48. Srul Itza Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:15 PM (#2420465)
Pujols now has 1 stolen base vs. 5 caught stealing this year.

As great as he is, maybe it is time for somebody to suggest to him that this is not really part of his game.
   49. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:17 PM (#2420470)
This team really needs Beltran to go on a power tear. Or Wright for that matter.
   50. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:18 PM (#2420476)
Excellent. That normally doesn't work when I post something like that.
   51. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:18 PM (#2420477)
Wish granted.
   52. NTNgod Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:18 PM (#2420478)
If Anthony Reyes got through a scoreless first inning, it would have been a shock. That's not what he does.
   53. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:18 PM (#2420479)
Davie!
   54. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:18 PM (#2420481)
D-Wright! Off the scoreboard!
   55. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:24 PM (#2420494)
Opposing hitters are trying to kill Blow Duca.
   56. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:25 PM (#2420498)
Moyer's got a no-hitter going and Howard just hit a 500-foot three-run homer.
   57. rembini06 Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:25 PM (#2420500)
That's the master Cardinal plan. If you can't hit homers, hit the catcher.
   58. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:27 PM (#2420502)
I don't care about Frank Thomas! Go back to the damn game!
   59. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:29 PM (#2420507)
I just voted a bunch of times for Martin, Stache, Reyes, Wright, and Beltran.
   60. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:29 PM (#2420509)
Why is Glavine walking Aaron Miles?
   61. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:30 PM (#2420511)
The only Mets I voted for were Wright and Reyes. Beltran's too much of a ##### for me to vote for him. They'll take away my Man Club card.
   62. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:31 PM (#2420514)
Also, if Endy hadn't gotten hurt, I would have written him in 25 times.
   63. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:33 PM (#2420517)
I'm also voting for Cameron. He's not even in the top 15 among outfielders.
   64. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:34 PM (#2420520)
I hope my votes are counting. Do they actually check the email adresses? I entered the one they use as an example.
   65. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:37 PM (#2420527)
Do they actually check the email adresses?

They sent me a confirmation thanking me for voting, but I don't know if they didn't process my vote before they sent me that.
   66. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:42 PM (#2420530)
Cohen should be barred from ever talking about Bonds. He's so annoying.
   67. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:43 PM (#2420534)
What Giant is going to the ASG other than him?
   68. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:44 PM (#2420535)
Matt Cain might be the Giants second best player, but a 2-9 pitcher will not make the All-Star team.
   69. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:45 PM (#2420537)
Solid Tommy.
   70. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:46 PM (#2420538)
So, the starters in the NL in a fair world should probably be Fielder, Utley, Reyes, Cabrera, Bonds, Soriano, Griffey, and Martin?
   71. rembini06 Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:46 PM (#2420540)
LaRussa might take Matt Morris.
   72. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:48 PM (#2420541)
I love that Keith is criticizing the way the defense is playing TOM GLAVINE!
   73. CrosbyBird Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:49 PM (#2420542)
#20: I like how they specify that it is a yellow candy.

#23: I've seen some weird crap on the interwebs, and that is definitely up there. Where did you find that?
   74. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:51 PM (#2420545)
Where did you find that?

I honestly don't remember. It was on some page of random links about a week and a half ago. I bookmarked it immediately because it really blew my mind. There are few things that are so weird that you can't look away but that was definitely one of them.

I guess there's more stuff of that nature at www.nakedrabbit.com but I haven't bothered exploring it yet.
   75. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:53 PM (#2420547)
Yeah, the Expos really ruined Vlad's career but not telling him to speak to the media.

Cabrera's a better hitter than Wright but Wright's defense and baserunning might make him the better overall player.
   76. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:55 PM (#2420557)
Cabrera's a better hitter than Wright but Wright's defense and baserunning might make him the better overall player.

Yeah, it's probably pretty close.

Wright's defense has definitely improved of late, but I don't know if his overall season would make up the difference. He had some real brutal games early on, remember?
   77. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:55 PM (#2420558)
Very nice!
   78. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:55 PM (#2420559)
Gomez is ####### awesome.
   79. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:56 PM (#2420560)
I didn't realize how well Cabrera was doing this year.
   80. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:56 PM (#2420561)
That was nice Gomez.
   81. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:57 PM (#2420563)
Do you guys think that when Gomez really learns to play the outfield that his defense will be in the Endy range?
   82. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:58 PM (#2420568)
I don't know if Gomez will ever be as smart as Endy is in the outfield.
   83. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 08:59 PM (#2420570)
That's part of why I said in the range. You really can't play the outfield any better than Endy. Coming close is an accomplishment.
   84. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:00 PM (#2420571)
That's the thing about Endy. Gomez may be faster than Endy but Endy always makes the right first step. Seriously, as good as Beltran is in CF, Endy is better. And Endy has great instincts in all three spots.
   85. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:00 PM (#2420572)
Ouch.
   86. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:01 PM (#2420575)
The Reds have tied the score 3-3 and have men on 1st and third with nobody out in the 7th.
   87. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:03 PM (#2420577)
Clemens sucks! Haha!
   88. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:04 PM (#2420579)
Bases loaded for the Reds now with one out.
   89. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:06 PM (#2420585)
The Mets are going to make Reyes look like Cy Young the rest of the way aren't they?
   90. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2420588)
4-3 Reds, bases still loaded, one out, and Griffey up.
   91. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2420589)
Yeah, unlike last night, I don't think Reyes is pitching particularly well.
   92. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:10 PM (#2420593)
As much as I like to see Gomez run around the outfield I wish Glavine wouldn't give up so many deep fly balls.
   93. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:11 PM (#2420594)
Wow, Clemens didn't strike out anyone tonight.

About time that ass was finished.
   94. rembini06 Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:11 PM (#2420595)
Gomez should've jumped on that flyball.
   95. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:12 PM (#2420599)
Griffey just drove in 2-runs with a single. 6-3 Reds, men on first and third still only one out.
   96. Srul Itza Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:13 PM (#2420600)
As much as I like to see Gomez run around the outfield I wish Glavine wouldn't give up so many deep fly balls.

Tommy likes to use the whole park. Waste not, want not.
   97. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:18 PM (#2420607)
Hey, what was the NL's record against the AL this year?
   98. Banta Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:18 PM (#2420609)
Gomez drawing some walks now!
   99. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:20 PM (#2420612)
I think it was 137-115, AL.
   100. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: June 27, 2007 at 09:21 PM (#2420613)
Come on Jose.
