McClellan got out of that pretty spiffily. A little too late, though.
   102. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:19 PM (#2844593)
I guess they don't want Cotts to be able to stay in and face Ankiel, but that's all he was gonna face, seems like an overthink by TLR.

Well, the way Marmol's looked lately, probably a good idea to leave as many outs up to him as possible.
   103. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:20 PM (#2844594)
This Jeter/Ortiz commercial's annoying as feck.
   104. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:21 PM (#2844595)
Damn, just foul. I like this new Marmol.
   105. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:22 PM (#2844597)
Always nice when Pujols isn't the potential tying run.
   106. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:22 PM (#2844598)
Strike that.

This Jeter/Ortiz commercial's annoying as feck.
Especially because it should be Longoria/Drew, all things considered.
   108. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:22 PM (#2844600)
I like this new Marmol.

Ditto!
   109. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:23 PM (#2844603)
The location of the shadow has to work to Marmol's advantage here. Pujols managed to hold up those last 2 pitches, but it's pretty clearly tough to pick up the location on the slider.
   110. Instead of a gun, they gave me a wrench. Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:25 PM (#2844607)
nice 3 up 3 down for marmol
   111. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:25 PM (#2844608)
Attaboy, Carlos. Seems like a long time since he'd done that...
   112. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:32 PM (#2844624)
That was an ugly swing.
   113. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:33 PM (#2844628)
Odds of scoring 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th - .0000003.
   114. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:34 PM (#2844629)
Ludwick, Molina, Kennedy...I assume Duncan if anybody gets on?
   115. Instead of a gun, they gave me a wrench. Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:35 PM (#2844631)
im not PFC im SrA. and in a year will be SSGT
   116. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2844635)
Kerru Time.
   117. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:37 PM (#2844636)
Sorry, Meat--I don't know my military ranks from a hole in the ground.

C'mon, Kerry.
   118. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:37 PM (#2844637)
Crowd ooing and aahing reminiscent of last night, but that was a strike.
   119. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:38 PM (#2844639)
Wow--that was close.
   120. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:38 PM (#2844643)
I'd root for a ground ball, but Molina hasn't had an infield single in 2 hours so I'd rather not tempt fate.
   121. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:38 PM (#2844642)
Good start, Ludwick needs to start taking better ABs and that's good to see.

Kerry Wood is the Cubs' best player? Um, no.
   122. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:40 PM (#2844645)
Surely you don't think Molina could get 3 IF hits in 2 days.

Not their "best player"--their "most valuable player." Duh. 8-p

Karros hasn't sounded like an idiot for most of this telecast, but that was pretty dumb.
   123. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:41 PM (#2844647)
Quit screwing around Kerru
   124. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:41 PM (#2844648)
Ok, sorry. Kerry Wood is the Cubs' MVP? Um, no.
   125. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:41 PM (#2844650)
Mm. Thought he went there.

####.
   126. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2844651)
Seriously, this ain't Pujols you're facing.
   127. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2844653)
Wood trying a Jason Isringhausen Memorial Save, here in Busch Stadium?
   128. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2844654)
Ok, sorry. Kerry Wood is the Cubs' MVP? Um, no.

Better.
   129. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2844656)
Molina also has a nice AB. Unfortunately, Kennedy is up.
   130. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2844658)
WOW. DID NOT SEE THAT COMING.
   131. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2844659)
ADAM ####### KENNEDY #### THESE COCKSUCKERS
   132. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2844660)
Not sure if that'd be worse than a George Sherrill Memorial Save.

Mother ######.
   133. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2844661)
Having Lee in didn't work there.
   134. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2844663)
Wood trying a Jason Isringhausen Memorial Save, here in Busch Stadium?

Izzy usually gets 2 outs before he blows the save.
   135. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:44 PM (#2844666)
That's twice Lou brought a corner guy in for no apparent reason today. Shockingly both times failed.
   136. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:44 PM (#2844669)
I wish Chad Fox was in the game now.
   137. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:44 PM (#2844670)
We're gonna lose to a ####### guy named Skip again.
   138. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:45 PM (#2844673)
Bringing the ####### infield in since it worked so well for Ned Yost vs. the D-Backs. CONCEDE THE DAMN RUN
   139. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:46 PM (#2844677)
Worked there.
   140. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:46 PM (#2844679)
Not good enough.

NONONONONONONONON AHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOT MILES.
   141. Walt Davis Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:47 PM (#2844682)
Lou seems to think it's a tie game.
   142. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:47 PM (#2844683)
Lean into one, Miles.
   143. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:47 PM (#2844684)
That was a hell of a pickup by Soto.
   144. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:48 PM (#2844690)
Pathetic. ####### Miles.
   145. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:48 PM (#2844691)
This is being to look like a Jason Isringhausen Memorial Save. Get in massive trouble, but squeak out with the save...
   146. Jon Egypt Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844692)
at least it wasn't a gidp...c'mon rick!
   147. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844696)
Nevermind.....
   148. Jon Egypt Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844698)

   149. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844699)

   150. retro-shiite Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844701)
Goddammit.
   151. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844704)
Jason Isringhausen 2008 Memorial Blown Save.
   152. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:49 PM (#2844705)
####### ####. Still won't see these ####### in October but I don't want to settle for the wild card.
   153. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844708)
Maybe the Marmol disease is like the alien in the HIDDEN. Went from Marmol to Wood.
   154. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:50 PM (#2844711)
That is the win of the year so far. Unbelieveable. What an inning.
   155. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:52 PM (#2844723)
I don't know, the Brewers are due for some fallback, Wainwright shuold be back eventually, the lineup is chugging along....the Cards might just make it into October. I'm starting to be optimistic.
   156. NTNgod Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:54 PM (#2844734)
We'll see. Brewers started slow, then began to creep up, sort of the reverse of 2007. They don't really have anyone playing over the heads in their lineup, apart from maybe Branyan.
   157. Guts Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:57 PM (#2844750)
This was the elusive win #50, too.

This has been a hell of a series so far. I'm going to the game again tomorrow, but Chatter today was fun.
   158. SouthSideRyan(roots for dreck) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 06:57 PM (#2844751)
MAYBE Branyan?

But yeah, the Brewers are better.
   159. Carl Spongberg Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2844983)
I honestly don’t know how to react. Woody lost? Sure, that has to happen (everything that can happen will R.I.P. Steve), but I wish that it wasn’t against the Cardifuckingals. I don’t care about a random game in July, but unless the bullpen reverts to May form the Cubs are made love to.

On an unrelated note: I’ve been doing my very somewhat avoiding possessive pronouns when talking about the Cubs, but screw that. Everything that happens happens to me and us and ours. So, yeah. Screw the cardinals and screw Rick Ankiel.
   160. Portia Stanke Posted: July 06, 2008 at 02:36 AM (#2845293)
You can always tell the bandwagon Cub fans by their earnest sense of entitlement and outrage that any team would dare defeat them and sully their proud history.

God knows that Cardinal fans have their share of idiots like Ryan, but at least they have something going for them. Imagine having to go through life as both an idiot and a Cub fan; it boggles the mind.
