Lilly is Davis' #3 BBref Comp
Both are 32 years old.
Both were born in California.
Davis' secretary was named Lincoln.
Lilly's secretary was named Kennedy.
Have we seen any other ultra-similar pitcher matchups this year?
It doesn't seem like the Cubs ever hit Davis, so I'm not terribly optimistic. I have no idea what the hell's gotten into (or more accurately, gone out of) this offense.
We can only cheat at home?
Dusty commandment #1.
Sorry about 6
I've got a friend's birthday festivities tonight to at least ensure I won't break my hiatus from watching this team on Day One of said hiatus.
True optimists do not let details like mathematical impossibility stand in the way of blind optimism. Just ask Hillary Clinton, ca. May 2008.
Optimism that, retro.
I'd suggest flossing daily and keeping your daily sodium intake below 2300 mg.
Avoiding running into sharp objects and playing in traffic is also advised.
What's with Ramirez this year?
I think the consensus is Sat 16 Aug.
What does the Arizona lineup have to do with the Cubs scoring three runs in 22 innings?
Now that CoJack is entrenched in left field, the only glaring hole in the lineup is Romero/Burke in right field and Chris Young. Beyond that it's a bunch of guys that are either above average (Jackson, Tracy, Hudson, Reynolds) are near average (Snyder and Drew).
It's not great, but it's pretty damned close to average.
You hate it when he goes overboard praising the heads up base running of Ted Lilly?
Pretty much.
Davis wasn't paying any attention to him and he took third without a throw.
Funny that Lilly took 3rd on Davis, cause that happens to Lilly pretty much every game.
"With a (completely unnecessary) slide! It's a triple!"
Awful.
Good hitting by Jackson though. I think he's going to be great.
But nobody can match Brennaman's self-righteousness. Sutton can also be pretty clever when he's not being bogged down by Grace's buffoonishness.
Provis (? - the mid-inning guy, in any case) was talking about the Brewers' win, and Santo sort of cut him off and said "Let's not talk about that now. I'm not in a very good mood".
Sutton was pretty good for the few years he was in Milwaukee.
Well, maybe Morgan, but Brennaman's definitely got him beat in terms of UNJUSTIFIABLE self-righteousness.
Granted it's Ted Lilly and you could probably steal 3rd base 95% of the time against him, but still.
