I don't think I'd ever buy a jersey with a utility player's name/number.

I would love a Larry Bittner jersey.

SSR, you must have the parody part of this post.

Although, it will be interesting to see what happens to the Cubs and Diamondbacks OPS+ numbers once this year's park factors are calculated. Arizona is +.130 at home and the Cubs are +.163.

The Rangers are in for one hell of an adjustment once this year's numbers are calculated.

Not even a Jose Oquendo jersey? You have no soul.

Big Joe McEwing fan were you dahlian?
   207. Dan Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:38 AM (#2870870)
Well, this just got kind of interesting.
   208. SouthSideRyan(hates Casey McGehee) Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:38 AM (#2870873)
Not really, 4 run lead with 4 outs to go.

Hell, I liked Augie as a Cub, and he totally sucked then.

Feckin' Howry.

Thanks again Micah, Leo.

Well, we have come back from bigger ninth inning deficits this season...
   211. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:39 AM (#2870876)
Doesn't OPS+ take park into account?
   212. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:42 AM (#2870877)
Billy Buckner. Now that's just not right.
   213. SteveM. Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:43 AM (#2870878)
Might be weirder though if he was named Mookie Wilson.

Yes, based on prior years. However, I think Dahlian's point is that once this year's numbers are calculated, teams like the Rangers and Cubs with mega-splits are going to find their numbers change a decent amount at that point.
   215. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:44 AM (#2870880)
Lee going the other way again. This is encouraging.

Marmol with the four run lead. Egads.
   217. SteveM. Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:53 AM (#2870891)
It would be nice if Marmol can have a 1-2-3 inning.
   218. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 12:56 AM (#2870892)
And here we go. C'mon, Carlos.
   219. SteveM. Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:00 AM (#2870893)
Carlos makes me reach for the Malox,

Chad Tracy looked like Kosuke on his worst day there.
   221. SteveM. Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:01 AM (#2870896)
Cubs win! I'll take it.
   222. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:01 AM (#2870897)
Why anyone would swing at a first pitch from Marmol is beyond me. The BA against him when he gets ahead in the count has to be under .100.
   223. NTNgod Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:01 AM (#2870898)
He gets the old-school Isringhausen save, though.
   224. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:02 AM (#2870899)
Not artful, but a win nonetheless. Carlos pushes his ERA back under 4.
   225. retro-shiite Posted: July 24, 2008 at 01:03 AM (#2870900)
It wasn't a save, though.

Besides, for an Isringhausen save, wouldn't he have to give up a couple runs?

That's why I said "old-school". Back in the day, he'd bend - a lot - but wouldn't break.

Then, as time went on, he started breaking.
