Win clinches a tie. Can't beat that feeling.

We'll be singing tonight:

Baseball season's underway
Well you better get ready for a brand new day.

Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

They're singing ...
Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go

Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

They got the power, they got the speed
To be the best in the National League
Well this is the year and Cubs are real
So come on down to Wrigley Field

We're singing now ...

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

Baseball time is here again
You can catch it all on WGN
So stamp you feet and clap your hands
Chicago Cubs got the greatest fans.

You're singing now ...

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

Go, Cubs, go
Go, Cubs, go
Hey, Chicago, what do you say
The Cubs are gonna win today.

I like the positivity, gents.

Fearless predictions: Cubs 6, Reds 1. Padres 6, Brewers 4. Champagne 6, Liver 0.

I like the positivity, gents.

For sure. Zambrano and Maddux going for the Cubs tonight. One out of two would do but maybe, just maybe, the stars are aligned.

I won't be catching all of tonight's game, 'cause I'm going to see the Tossers at the Abbey Pub. Hopefully the Cubs' result won't make me feel like tossing my dinner.

I'm hoping the Tossers are playing "Dancin' Shoes" right around the time the Cubs clinch.

Maybe...

its a rare weekday off of work, and the cubs havea chance to clinch the 2007 NL central title. i never expected this team to make it when it first started, but now that they are almost there im going to be dissipointed if they blow it. but this team doesnt make me think they will fall short. the offense will wake up for at least one game, there in the cinci afterall, that place is a band box.

Uh, no you can't. Last week of the regular season and there is what, one game on WGN? Feckeng redeceles!
   17. Bunny Vincennes Posted: September 28, 2007 at 03:40 PM (#2548198)
I'm in a good mood too. I'm going to miss the first hour or so of the game do to some gambling obligations, but I fully expect to join the game with the Small Bears in control.
   18. Moses Taylor didn't fall far from the awesome tree Posted: September 28, 2007 at 03:41 PM (#2548199)
You know, since I'm Chicago I get the games on CSN and they're much, much better. WGN had about 1 alternate angle on that foul ball yesterday. The count is *always* wrong on the ticker, you're lucky if the baserunners are properly identified, etc. WGN is ass-backwards when it comes to broadcasting Cubs games.
   19. Moses Taylor didn't fall far from the awesome tree Posted: September 28, 2007 at 03:45 PM (#2548203)
Gambling Obligations? Collecting or enforcing?
   20. Bunny Vincennes Posted: September 28, 2007 at 04:07 PM (#2548232)
The count and the baserunners are always ###### up. Always. Amazingly, the scoreboard guys are always lighteningly fast and correct.

Gambling obligations are that I collect all of the parlay cards and the cash and then deliver them to another location for The Guy to pick up later on.

I probably shouldn't be sharing this via the internets.
   21. Moses Taylor didn't fall far from the awesome tree Posted: September 28, 2007 at 04:10 PM (#2548234)
YOu didn't have to actually answer if you felt that way.

   25. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 04:59 PM (#2548296)
The scoreboard guys are so fast they have it up before I can look at the board.

I'm wearing my Cubs hat!

I'm wearing nothing but my Cubs hat!

I'm listening on the internet, and I've got the ambient sound during commercial breaks. Each Cub announced got a hearty cheer. The home players are getting maybe 60% boos. Too funny. I am amped.

Well, that'll do for a start.
   41. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:15 PM (#2548421)
What the hell's Arroyo thinking trying to slip his dinky 91-MPH fastball by Soriano on 0-2?
   42. Andere HUSSEIN Richtingen, Socialist Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:15 PM (#2548423)
Kendall hitting second? WTF?
   43. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:16 PM (#2548425)

The mlb.tv feed is useless. I've gone to Gameday Audio.
   47. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:19 PM (#2548431)
Try sneaking that fastball low and in again there, Bronson.
   48. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:20 PM (#2548432)
Outside pitch, grounded to short. Ramirez is trying to do way too much.
   49. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:21 PM (#2548433)
That's some eerie consistency in the batting averages at the top of the Reds' lineup.
   50. Andere HUSSEIN Richtingen, Socialist Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:24 PM (#2548436)
Who was the previous holder of the Cubs' leadoff HR record?
   51. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:24 PM (#2548437)
Not Bob Dernier.
   52. Mayonnaise Savant (DTM) Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:24 PM (#2548439)
And with 1 out, all three of the top spots are at .333.
   53. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:26 PM (#2548446)
And on the first pitch Z throws over 90, he gives up a hit. Hmm. He's getting everything over, but his speed's down.
   54. Scott Lange Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:27 PM (#2548449)
Thanks Andere. I've been pretty swamped with school, but I'm making time for this one. My usual game-watching friend flew to Cincinnati though, so I'm stuck with you guys.

WTG Alf! Make it hold up, Z.
   55. Bull Pain Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:29 PM (#2548454)
I suppose 1 of their top 3 was bound to get a hit there.
   56. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:29 PM (#2548455)
Nice recovery.

I've gotta say, Jeff Keppinger's annoying the hell out of me. Guy was DFA'd by the friggin' Royals, if memory serves.
   57. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:30 PM (#2548459)
I suppose 1 of their top 3 was bound to get a hit there.

Statistically, it was inevitable.
   58. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:30 PM (#2548460)
I'm hoping the Cubs can play this game with the perspective that it's their division to lose. The Brewers aren't mathematically done yet, but the pressure's certainly on them. I'd like to see the Cubs just go out there tonight and play loosely. I think they pressed too much in Florida with the idea that they needed to synch this thing up right away.
   59. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:31 PM (#2548462)
For anyone watching--how's the movement on Zambrano's pitches look?
   60. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:32 PM (#2548464)
I think DeRosa's probably glad to get the hell out of Florida. Which would be true of anyone with any common sense, regardless of the outcome of the last series.
   61. Mayonnaise Savant (DTM) Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:35 PM (#2548469)
Gameday shows all 4 of the pitches to Theriot being out of the zone.
   62. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:36 PM (#2548473)
2-0. Z goes yard here.
   63. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:37 PM (#2548474)
Or not. The hell's he swinging at that crap for?
   64. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:37 PM (#2548475)
Who was the previous holder of the Cubs' leadoff HR record?

Rick Monday?
   65. Giantandre Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:38 PM (#2548476)
I may have a 6 inch screen but no way he caught that
   66. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:39 PM (#2548479)
I hate Bronson Arroyo's face, his stupid Prince Valiant haircut, his goofy delivery, and his slop assortment of pitches.

I kind of just hate him, actually.
   67. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:39 PM (#2548480)
What about his guitar playing?
   68. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:40 PM (#2548482)
Think Monday's right, actually.

Ah well. One run an inning probably wins this game.
   69. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:40 PM (#2548484)
Never heard his guitar playing, but I'm sure that sucks ass, too.

Two new commercials on Mlb.tv (including Cliff Floyd) awesome
   74. Charles S. for art collecting and yelling Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:58 PM (#2548533)
Another quick inning. I think Zambrano wants the complete game.
   75. Mayonnaise Savant (DTM) Posted: September 28, 2007 at 07:59 PM (#2548540)
36 pitches for Zambrano, 54 for Arroyo.

   79. Giantandre Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:03 PM (#2548551)
On the Red broadcast they are interviewing Cub fans in the crowd .... must be depressing to be a Reds fan

The Reds have three world championships in my 35 years of following baseball. Their fans can live with being a little depressed.

Does Votto run at all? He might not steal with Phillips up, but if he tries to steal with two outs, I don't like Kendall's odds of throwing him out.
   83. Giantandre Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:11 PM (#2548581)
Marlins 4

couldn't happen to better bunch of guys

19 assists for Soriano. Wow.

Soriano does it again. What was Berry thinking?
   86. Sweet Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:12 PM (#2548587)
Oh goodness. I love Soriano so much. That play alone was worth roughly half of his entire contract value.

I just injured myself on a fist-pump after Soriano's assist. That's all.

Cory Provus: Wait till you hear how the Mets gave up two runs. Oliver Perez loaded the bases, then he hit a Marlin to force in a run, then he hit another to force in another run!

Ronnie: (chuckling) Couldn't happen to a nicer team...

   100. Charles S. for art collecting and yelling Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:25 PM (#2548646)
Maddux is missing his spots. We'll have to hope for some typical Brewer bullpen work.
