THE PRIMER CHIMP LIVES! LONG LIVE THE PRIMER CHIMP!

What I want to see tonight:
Evan Longoria hits THREE home runs!

More Cowbell!

A Dick Vitale crowd-shot, because even though I find him annoying, it cannot be denied he is
enthusiastic about stuff he cares about

More drama with Balfour. All we need is Balfour punching out somebody and Baseball will explode in Australia.

Griffey becomes Young Again.

Steinbrenner walks aimlessly onto the field and demands to know why the Yankees are not playing in October.

A ball lands in the catwalks.

Peña scratched from the lineup because of his, uh, scratched eye.
   3. Jim Wisinski Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:09 PM (#2966526)
Oh please, there's no freaking way that they intentionally hit the first damn batter of a playoff game over an irrelevant incident from yesterday. Plus you don't throw at hitters with a shin high down and in fastball anyway.
   4. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:10 PM (#2966527)
Yeah, I don't know why the hell they're talking that way.

Kazmir's control is looking pretty bad.
   5. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:10 PM (#2966528)
Well, Kazmir's off to a flying start.
   6. konaforever Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:12 PM (#2966530)
Kazmir looking good.
   7. konaforever Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:14 PM (#2966531)
Why does he keep saying that Kazmir hit him on purpose? It's so obvious he didn't.
   8. Jim Wisinski Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:20 PM (#2966535)
Guy I know thinks that Kazmir is injured to some degree. I'm beginning to think he's right, Kazmir just isn't himself and he isn't even the first half of 2005/2007 pitcher that struggled with control but was effective in other areas.
   9. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:33 PM (#2966538)
With a 2-0 lead to start the bottom of the first isn't the time to hit a batter. Leading off the game apparently is. Isn't there some intern you could go hug, Harold?
   10. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2966541)

I agree with this. He really hasn't looked the same since when, just before the ASG?
   11. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:42 PM (#2966546)
Holy crap, get off it, Reynolds, he didn't hit him on purpose. His control just sucks.
   12. Al Kaline Trio Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:45 PM (#2966548)
Swisher's batting average is zero he sucks...
   13. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:48 PM (#2966549)
"He doesn't look right" ... "He looks uncomfortable" ... You'd think Harold could connect these things in his mind.
   14. Rafael Bellylard (p8p) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:52 PM (#2966554)
Kazmir is really spotty. Somedays he's Koufax, others he's Shawn Estes.
   15. Rafael Bellylard (p8p) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 06:53 PM (#2966555)
That looked like it was right out of the "unusual play boards" in APBA.
   16. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:27 PM (#2966581)
Woah, did everyone else have the database failure error, or does this game have that little chatter interest?
   17. Al Kaline Trio Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:29 PM (#2966583)
My database malfuntioned for a while.
   18. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:36 PM (#2966586)
Great play by Bartlett.
   19. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:43 PM (#2966589)
Home run for Aki Iwamura, Rays up 3-2.
   20. Al Kaline Trio Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2966590)
Another comeback from an early deficit I'm impressed
   21. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:45 PM (#2966592)
It's just not a Rays game if the broadcast doesn't cut to fans in the stands holding up signs provided by the organization when something good happens.
   22. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2966594)
Balfour cometh. And Cabrera is gonna come up soon...

$5 Dollars to the man who punches AJ Pierzynski out.
   23. Al Kaline Trio Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2966597)
There is a nice open spot at 1B to setup the double play
   24. Jose Can Jussi Jokinen (Justin T) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:56 PM (#2966598)
Balfour needs to be tested daily for greenies. I think there's probable cause.
   25. Al Kaline Trio Posted: October 03, 2008 at 07:57 PM (#2966601)
and tested for tourettes too
   26. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2966606)
Longoria hasn't looked too good against Buerhle.
   27. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2966608)
Did not expect that bunt...
   28. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2966617)
There's that ####### albino nerd again.

Rick Peterson is available to straighten him out.
   30. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:19 PM (#2966621)
CB Bucknor... CB Bucknor....
   31. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:33 PM (#2966631)
That was a strike?????
   32. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:34 PM (#2966634)
CB Bucknor, kevin. CB Bucknor.
   33. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:35 PM (#2966635)
This strike zone is wider than the grand canyon.
   34. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2966637)
That pitch was closer than the one he rung the other guy up on.
   35. Jason Kendall's #6,530,420,771 fan (AS) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2966638)
More like C.B. Suckmore.
   36. Anabolix Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2966641)
What the hell, this guy will give you the inside strike but not the one over the middle of the plate?
   37. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:41 PM (#2966644)
This ump is brutally bad.
   38. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2966645)
OK, that looked like a strike.

The others all sucked though.
   39. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2966646)
I cannot believe that CB Bucknor is a playoff umpire.
   40. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2966647)
That looked WAY outside.
   41. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2966649)
Swisher does not like CB Bucknor either.

I once heard a rumor about CB Bucknor, but I'm not going to say it because I REALLY hope it isn't true.

What is he friends with Steve Garvey or something?
   43. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2966651)
Oh Christ, c'mon. You have to spill it now. If it's a rumor, it's not like it's a state secret.
   44. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2966652)
That was an effortless triple.
   45. Anabolix Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2966653)
Wow that was an easy triple
   46. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:48 PM (#2966654)
Ball.
   47. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:48 PM (#2966655)
No, the rumor is this: Bucknor only became a Major League umpire because MLB wanted more African-American umps so they picked him over more deserving umpire candidates.

4-2 Rays.
   48. Anabolix Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2966656)
"That lead-off triple is such a great play....it sets up everything"

Really, HR? The leadoff triple is a great play?

It's a wonder teams don't run that play more often.
   51. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2966661)
ROCCO! 5-2
   52. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2966663)
Rocco still has a nice stroke.

wow! you sure must be an insider to hear such an atypical rumor about a black guy....
   54. Elevate Phil Coorey Later Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2966666)
White Sox can't blame Bucknor for leaving 6000 men on base today earlier however.

Is it just me, or are the FrankTV ads (and their spin-offs) much more annoying, and of much lower quality, than the ones last year?
   56. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2966668)
If you drink Captain Morgan, you can score hot chicks who in any other circumstances, wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.
   57. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2966673)
Enos Baldelli.
   58. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2966674)
Rocco's still got some speed, too.
   59. Anabolix Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2966675)
WOW
   60. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2966676)
That was terrible, that ball was very catchable.
   61. John Brill's #1 Fan (JMN) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2966677)
The White Sox have quit.
   62. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2966678)
They did that yesterday too. The White Sox apparently don't communicate in the field.
   63. Gamingboy Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2966679)
At least FrankTV is making fun of itself now.
   64. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2966682)
This has not been a good postseason for Chicago baseball.
   65. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2966685)
Uh, didn't Aybar get the tag on him?
   66. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2966686)
Another crappy call.
   67. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2966687)
Yikes, horrible call.
   68. Biscuit_pants Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2966688)
This has not been a good postseason for Chicago baseball.
that's an understatement. Even though it is not too big a compliment, I do think the Sox are playing better.
   69. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2966689)
And he gets a hit!?!?! That is nonsensical.
   70. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2966691)
Although, I think the first base ump is feeling sorry for the White Sox and gave them a make-up call.
   71. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2966692)
That was horrendous.
   72. Dan Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2966693)
Impressive DP.
   73. kevin Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2966694)
Game over.
   74. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2966695)
Wow. I was about to call that a dumb throw by Longoria.
   75. John Brill's #1 Fan (JMN) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2966696)
Rays take care of the bad call themselves.
   76. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2966697)
If you're anything less than the tying run, you absolutely have to bunt against the shift.
   77. Guts Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2966698)
Horrible umping in this game, but I don't think the Sox would have won anyway - they're not Cub-flat right now, but they're not sharp.
   78. John Brill's #1 Fan (JMN) Posted: October 03, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2966699)
Good thing Chad Bradford can provide veteran leadership.

I had great seats for this game at the Trop... that 8th inning really broke my heart. First Swish stares at 3 straight strikes (though I thought some of the calls on those strikes were iffy at best) in a HUGE situation, then the Rays take away any hope for a comeback with 3 in the bottom half. Still glad I went thought, first Sox playoff game I've ever been to!
