My fantasy league team's era is 4.5, which sucks so bad. El Duke needs to do something to move that number south.

If you're counting on El Duque to move that number in the right direction, I'm not surprised your team has an ERA of 4.50.

B-Pro has the Mets chances of winning the division at around 97%. Sounds reasonable given the competition. Should the Mets sit still and coast into the playoffs -- or try and make an upgrade at 2b and/or in the starting rotation that will help come playoff time. That seems to be the big question facing Minaya.

The Reds pounded Hernandez back in early May when he was still with AZ. He allowed (Aquino gave up 3 run double to Encarnacion relieving El Duque with bases loaded) 8 loud runs.
Mike Burns, in his 3rd stint w/the Reds this year, has put up some impressive numbers:
11.1 inn 28 hits 13 runs 2 hr 10.32 era 2.74 whip .491 opp avg

Seriously, it is too bad that the Mets don't have a prototypical option for a number two hitter other than Lo Duca. Castro is so much better than he is.

I'm hatin' the Lo Duca bunt. Why play for one run in the first inning?
Castro really needs to see more games... one can argue he should be the starting catcher.

The best thing about Duque making an out is that Reyes gets to lead off. Would Milledge/Endy have made that play? What isn't Endy playing right anyway?

Hanley has a lower OPS despite an unusually high BABIP. He ranks 4th worst in the NL in ZR.
Lopez has a lower OPS and ranks last in the NL in ZR.
Renteria is hitting great but ranks 2nd last in ZR. Reyes is a much better baserunner as well.
The best SS in the league has actually been Vizquel. He's been fantastic.

Felipe Lopez, Edgar Renteria and Hanley Ramirez are pretty good, yeah?
Lopez is pretty bad on D. And Ramirez? I'd have a hard giving a 22 year old with less than half a year in the majors title of "best SS in the NL". Reyes has a higher OPS than either of them BTW.
Oh, and you forgot to name the guy who has been the best SS so far this year, Bill Hall.

The best SS in the league has actually been Vizquel. He's been fantastic.
And no one in their right mind would rather have Vizquel than Reyes, given that Vizquel is 93 years old.
Oh, and you forgot to name the guy who has been the best SS so far this year, Bill Hall.
He's more a utility guy, filling in at short because JJ Hardy is hurt, but your point is well made.

Beautiful pitch to K Ross. El Duque is growing on me. A full season of this, and I might actually only mildly dislike him.

Reyes' isolated slugging and discipline have shown a very nice uptick. Many scouts called Jose a breakout candidate this year, and he seems to be fulfilling those expectations.

Frigging Kearns. Good piece of hitting by Wright, anyway.
You know what's bad? Lo Duca has a .704 OPS right now and this is supposed to be his good half of the season.

I guess that's the really bad part about LoDuca. Even when he's going well, he's only a bad week away from being completely worthless.

I called that HR. When he got two K's I said Duque was going to go to the well one too often.
there's a reason Griffey is one of the all time greats.

BTW, did anyone notice that Reyes (+80,000), Wright (+200,000), Beltran (+100,000 on 4th place), and Lo Duca (+280,000) ALL now lead their respective positions for the ASG? Quite a surge for Mets' players in the latest round of voting.

I think Vizquel deserves it more than Reyes.
I've been voting for Reyes. Proudly. The ASG is a show; Reyes puts on a more exciting show. Plus, I'm biased. Sue me.

Me too. Well, I haven't voted yet, but my bias will have me voting for Delgado, Reyes, Wright, Beltran, and Piazza. And I'll write in The Stache at second base.

I'm so used to Endy Chavez catching balls like that, I was kind of stunned to realize it was Nady out there and realizing that ball was going to drop. Sigh.

Hm, I thought that it was a bit better than that. Not that there's anything wrong with that. At all.
Come on Bradford, generate a K popup or GDP.
Classic case where the ump, in a just world, would NOT have given the batter first base on the HBP . . . .
