I wouldn't go that far, if the Cardinals were in a division with organizations that showed an ability to competently run their organizations then I would agree, but the central is not really a weak division as much as it's a collection of incompetents. The best talent in the central is managed by Ned Yost, the next best is a team that is on the auction block, the Reds have less of a clue on how to build a team than Detroit Lions (Walt is going to fix a lot of that, but it won't matter this year) the Astros still have Ausmus on the roster, and of course the Pirates are the Pirates.
Then consider that most of the people doing the estimating of the Cardinals have never properly taken both Ankiel and Ludwicks detour into their career into consideration, nor have they figured out a way to properly evaluate guys like Looper and even Wellemeyer.
