85 more.

10 straight games with a walk for Wright.

Delgado on the bench with the righty on the mound? That's weird.

Stop bunting, Beltran. Yikes.
   9. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:40 PM (#2349194)
Why the #### is Beltran bunting?
   10. Joshemy Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:40 PM (#2349196)
Dear Carlos Beltran,

Will you stop it with that ####? Please?

Thanks,
Jeremy

David Wright looks like late-career Rickey Henderson ... or Mark McLemore. No confidence in your bat speed? Kill them with patience.
   12. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:40 PM (#2349199)
Terrible play.
   13. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:43 PM (#2349204)
They're not going to score, are they?
   14. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:43 PM (#2349205)
The Mets never score a guy from 3rd base anyway with less than 2 outs anyway. Let's stop bunting them over.
   15. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:44 PM (#2349206)
Boy, did that suck.

John Maine is my boy.

Maine rocks.
   18. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:51 PM (#2349218)
Maine pumped last pitch to Zimmerman up to 94 MPH.
   19. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:51 PM (#2349220)
There's your staff ace.
   20. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:51 PM (#2349221)
Nationals broadcaster: "We may be remembering the Maine by this day." Their production is so bush league to begin with, does he need to make it worse with crap like that?
   21. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:52 PM (#2349222)
Apparently this game isn't on in Central New York. ####### ########.

Dmitri back on the drugs?

Dmitri back on the drugs?

That's cold.
   24. Joshemy Posted: April 29, 2007 at 01:59 PM (#2349228)
Apparently this game isn't on in Central New York.

But it is on in Central Pennsylvania!
   25. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:00 PM (#2349230)
At least he doesn't look like Old Dirty Bastard anymore like he did in Detroit.
   26. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:10 PM (#2349242)
Reyes is God.
   27. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:11 PM (#2349244)
How many walks is Reyes going to draw this season? He's on pace for about 110-115.
   28. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:11 PM (#2349245)
The difference in Reyes' approach from two years ago is really extraordinary. He could walk 100 times this year.
   29. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:13 PM (#2349248)
84 more.
   30. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:14 PM (#2349249)
Uh ... how many steals is he on pace for? He's getting on base so much more, and he's stealing just as often as he ever has.
   31. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:15 PM (#2349251)
Oh, Reyes may have jammed his finger. Ah. That's not good.
   32. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:15 PM (#2349252)
It's unbelievable. Some people on here thought, and not unreasonably, that he would never develop even the adequate level of selectivity to be a decent major leaguer. But he really *is* turning into Joe Morgan.
   33. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:16 PM (#2349253)
How does this offense keep getting shut down by the ####### Nationals?
   34. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:17 PM (#2349254)
If he doesn't steal another one in this game, he'll be on pace for 110-115 steals.
   35. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:17 PM (#2349257)
He's on pace for 112 walks and steals.
   36. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:19 PM (#2349261)
See, that's why Maine annoys me. There's no reason for him to walk Snelling on 4 pitches there. That's just not smart.
   37. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:28 PM (#2349275)
Belliard is looking like a nice little player. I would mind him taking Newhan's place eventually.
   38. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:30 PM (#2349282)
Maine's stuff looks very lively today. I don't think there was much strategy to the Snelling walk - sometimes you just miss. The same wildness is the reason nobody's hitting line drives off him
   39. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:30 PM (#2349283)
Somebody needs to tell the Mets that the Nationals' starting pitching is crappy.
   40. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:30 PM (#2349284)
Yellow pants?
   41. The Answer to the TWolves (GMoney) Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:33 PM (#2349293)
Shawn Hill and Jason Bergmann have actually been pitching pretty well so far this year.

Even if you believe that Maine is a babip-defier, he needs to cut down on the walks. He wasn't this wild last year and he did the same thing.

I actually really like Hill's stuff. He's good. Bergmann? Not so much.
   44. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:37 PM (#2349303)
Yeah, I know. I suppose I responded that way because I think it's annoying when people associate wildness with strategy, as opposed to ability. Maine didn't walk Snelling because there's something wrong with his pitching philosophy, he did it because he's just wild.
   45. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:41 PM (#2349312)
Man, Maine is good.

I wasn't saying it was strategy. Honestly, I can live with it if he had walked Snelling after a good AB. But to walk him on 4 pitches?
   47. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:45 PM (#2349319)
Even Jose's outs are hard.
   48. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:48 PM (#2349324)
You know, Reyes' leadoff hit in the first could very easily been scored an error and the Mets would be getting no-hit. The Met offense is really struggling.
   49. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:51 PM (#2349328)
I love Maine.

Can they score some runs for him now?
   50. PreservedFish Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:54 PM (#2349332)
The Nationals have much shorter commercial breaks than other teams do. Are they having problems selling advertising?
   51. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 02:55 PM (#2349333)
David Wright Sucks.

Beltran does not suck.

That's why Beltran should never bunt.

Austin Kearns blows.

Thank you.

Come on, one run off Bergmann. That's just silly.
   59. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 29, 2007 at 03:14 PM (#2349368)
Ramon Castro looks so bad at times. He's struck out twice in seven pitches today. He would have done it in six, but Bergmann bounced the ball.

Could someone explain to me why Newhan is on the roster? Couldn't the Mets find a better LH off the bench? Its not like he ever plays the field.
   68. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 29, 2007 at 03:35 PM (#2349410)
Nats' announcers are so funny. They scream to the heavens when a close call goes against them, but say absolutely nothing when the opposite happens.
   69. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 29, 2007 at 03:36 PM (#2349412)
Newhan on the team makes no sense. His only asset is versatility but Willie doesn't really use that at all so he is a waste.

This announcer is horrible. 3 or 4 times he has started a home run call and the ball hasn't even reached the warning track. Horrible.
   80. 2 Balls on Clemente Posted: April 29, 2007 at 03:52 PM (#2349442)

For a guy with a bad defensive rep, Lopez has been great in this series.

If someone had told you in ST that Green would be hitting 200 points better than Delgado, and outhomering DW by three HRs by the end of April, you'd think we'd be on pace for 900 runs.

Here's what Adam Rubin said on his blog a few days ago:

Lastings Milledge was diagnosed with a sprained ligament in his right foot and was placed on the seven-day disabled list with Triple-A New Orleans. Milledge lost a seven-game hitting streak when he had to leave Monday's Zephyrs game after one at-bat. He's hitting .333 despite a 1-for-11 start to his Triple-A season.

Why isn't Endy in this game? Seriously?
   98. CrosbyBird Posted: April 29, 2007 at 04:11 PM (#2349491)
Is this the first time all season when Randolph has put Endy in for Green? I expect a Chavez error to make this move never happen again.

We ARE on pace for 900 runs (125 in 22 games = 920 R/162G)
