*MILLEDGE CHEST BUMP*

That'll get this thread rolling.
   2. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:27 PM (#2121911)
Today's my first day off in a week. Pelfrey needs to get it started with a SHO.
   3. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:34 PM (#2121921)
Will Milledge be at Shea and in the lineup tonight? I hope so.

And let's go Pelfrey.
   4. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:37 PM (#2121926)
Milledge should be there. Whether he's the lineup or not, depends on Magic Endy Pixie Dust.
   5. IBleedMetsBlueandOrange Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:47 PM (#2121940)
I would arahter Maine was starting tonight with Pelfrey and his 1 pitch in the bullpen
   6. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:52 PM (#2121951)
Pelfrey showed some good breaking ball in previous start. When he was throwing strikes and getting ahead with the fastball, it was quite effective.
   7. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:54 PM (#2121953)
Sanchez is in surgery right now. Out for the year.
   8. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:55 PM (#2121956)
DAMN. Sanchez is having surgery. Out for the year.
   9. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 05:59 PM (#2121960)
One of these 6 starters has to temporarily become a late-inning reliever. Fast. Pelfrey makes the most sense to me.
   10. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:00 PM (#2121961)
I think it could work.
   11. IBleedMetsBlueandOrange Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:04 PM (#2121965)
Pelfrey could not throw that breaking ball for a strike anywhere near consistently. They will be looking dead red on him all night
   12. Free Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:05 PM (#2121967)
Losing Sanchez really sucks.
   13. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:08 PM (#2121968)
Wagner
Heilman
Hermandez
Feliford
Bell/Owens
Oliver

Is that so bad?
   14. Raskolnikov Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:09 PM (#2121969)
One of these 6 starters has to temporarily become a late-inning reliever. Fast.

Soon to be 7 starters. Bannister looks ready.
   15. IBleedMetsBlueandOrange Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:13 PM (#2121972)
6 7 8 , Valentin, Floyd, Milledge
   16. Raskolnikov Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:18 PM (#2121978)
What an unusual lineup - the 2 corner OFers hitting 7th and 8th.
   17. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:19 PM (#2121981)
Our bullpen is still very good. I'd like to see Ring up soon and see if he can be a 2nd LOOGY for us.
   18. IBleedMetsBlueandOrange Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:20 PM (#2121982)
I would have liked Floyd, Milledge, Valentin, much better, this way Milledge would get much better pitches to hit
   19. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:20 PM (#2121983)
I think its quite ridiculous that Floyd is hitting 7th. Is Olsen a lefty?
   20. Free Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:24 PM (#2121987)
Wagner
Heilman
Hermandez
Feliford
Bell/Owens
Oliver

Heilman has been unreliable and inconsistent. Bell/Owens are real question marks. It was nice having Sanchez who seemed like he could give you a goos inning almost every day. I join in those thinking Pelfrey could be dominate in the pen.
   21. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:28 PM (#2121990)
Is Olsen a lefty?

Yes. And lefties are hitting .160/.248/.223 off him in 94 ABs, FWIW.
   22. Russlan thinks Jose Reyes pops up too much Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:39 PM (#2122005)
The Dodgers just DFA Jose Cruz, Jr. He doesn't hit for power anymore but he's good for a .350ish OBP and some good defense. Would you consider picking him up?
   23. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:46 PM (#2122015)
Sure. Marrero doesn't do it for me.
   24. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 06:58 PM (#2122033)
Not that Marrero is great or anything, but what's wrong with him? He hits for some power and can play about 5 positions. You could worse with a 25th guy.
   25. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:00 PM (#2122039)
Wow, new MLB EI music! It's about time!
   26. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:01 PM (#2122040)
Yeah, we could do worse. he's better than McEwing, for example. I'm kind of ambivalent I guess.
   27. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:02 PM (#2122041)
Wow, new MLB EI music! It's about time!

It's been like this since the all-star break.
   28. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:03 PM (#2122042)
The new EI music is scary. Crazy techno remix scary.

I prayed to be spared of the Marlins' announcing team. Unfortunately, it failed.
   29. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:05 PM (#2122045)
Well, at the very least, the events of the last two days have made the next two months more interesting than they might have been otherwise.

Let's go Milledge! Make my doubts about you look retarded.
   30. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:07 PM (#2122048)
Reyes lead-off walk!
   31. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#2122049)
Robbed by Alfredo Amezaga. That's sad.
   32. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#2122050)
Damn, that's a homer in most parks.
   33. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:09 PM (#2122053)
That was hit well. Too bad this stadium is huge.
   34. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:10 PM (#2122054)
There might be less than 8,000 people there right now.
   35. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:11 PM (#2122056)
I wouldn't go to a baseball game tonight. It's horrible out.
   36. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:13 PM (#2122060)
Oh. ####.
   37. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:13 PM (#2122061)
crap.
   38. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:14 PM (#2122062)
What a bad break.
   39. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:14 PM (#2122063)
Oh ####. Reyes might be injured and that is another ball that is a homerun in any other park.
   40. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:14 PM (#2122064)
That was an unforunate series of events.
   41. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:15 PM (#2122069)
I'm just glad it's not a bad break to the ankle.
   42. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:15 PM (#2122070)
OK, that could have been a disaster.
   43. Russlan thinks Jose Reyes pops up too much Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:15 PM (#2122071)
The Mets could totally be up 3-0 with nobody out.
   44. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:16 PM (#2122072)
The Dodgers just DFA Jose Cruz, Jr. He doesn't hit for power anymore but he's good for a .350ish OBP and some good defense. Would you consider picking him up?

I think Cruz would be a fine addition for this team. He has a career .834 OPS against lefties. Five homers in 14 games at Shea. Hey, you never know.
   45. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:16 PM (#2122073)
Carlos Dos is looking relaxed at the plate.
   46. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:17 PM (#2122074)
Carlos # 2 with the big pick-up RBI. Outstanding!
   47. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:17 PM (#2122075)
I like it when Delgado goes the other way.
   48. Russlan thinks Jose Reyes pops up too much Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:17 PM (#2122077)
Delgado going the other way. Nice.
   49. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:17 PM (#2122078)
Alright Delgado!
   50. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:18 PM (#2122079)
DELGADO!

Reyes looks OK. Good.
   51. Srul Itza Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:20 PM (#2122082)
Beltran doubled to deep left, Reyes to third, Beltran out at third.

So what exactly happened here?
   52. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:20 PM (#2122083)
He's tall.
   53. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:21 PM (#2122085)
*Pop*
   54. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:22 PM (#2122087)
K! Nice start Pelfrey.
   55. Orange & Blue Velvet Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:22 PM (#2122088)
Is this your first time watching Pelfrey, Base?
   56. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:22 PM (#2122089)
Man, the goods are there. If he can just put it together . . . .
   57. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:23 PM (#2122091)
Pelfrey gets him with The Shocker™.
   58. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:23 PM (#2122093)
Is this your first time watching Pelfrey, Base?

I guess it is. I've been listening to a lot of games on the radio lately.
   59. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:24 PM (#2122095)
So what exactly happened here?

Reyes tripped coming around third, so he headed back to the bag. Beltran came around second -- expecting Reyes to score easily -- and then was trapped when the throw went behind him to second. He was tagged out at third when Reyes was standing on the bag right next to him.
   60. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122098)
Milledge is terrible.
   61. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122099)
God. Jacobs' swing is a thing of beauty.
   62. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122100)
Oh Lastings. Oh Lastings.
   63. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122101)
Nady would have had that ball.
   64. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122102)
I thought we traded Nady?
   65. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:25 PM (#2122104)
What the heck is wrong with Milledge?
   66. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:26 PM (#2122105)
Oy. Milledge??? What was that?
   67. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:26 PM (#2122110)
WTF MILLEDGE!!!
   68. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:26 PM (#2122109)
Good Jesus. Milledge costs them a run, maybe more.
   69. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:27 PM (#2122111)
Let's see... it took about 20 minutes for Milledge to tick me off again.
   70. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:28 PM (#2122114)
Good job by Pelfrey to get out of that.

Milledge costs the Mets a run in the 1st inning. Not a good way to endear himself to the press.
   71. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:28 PM (#2122115)
Good poise by Pelfrey. I hate to think how Trachsel would have handled that.

Milledge just froze. That can't continue. Period.
   72. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:28 PM (#2122116)
I'm sorry, but that's a play that's gotta be made.
   73. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:29 PM (#2122117)
Milledge's folly aside, Pelfrey looked good that inning. That first-pitch inside-corner curveball to Cabrera was esp. nice.
   74. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:29 PM (#2122119)
In his defense, he's had very little experience at the corners. The arc of the ball is quite a bit different. out there.
   75. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:30 PM (#2122121)
Milledge has played mostly LF, RF in Norfolk this year, Rob.

Btw, Nady is batting sixth and playing 1B for the Buccos.
   76. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:30 PM (#2122122)
If you guys are watching SNY, in between innings, Milledge walked away while Willie was talking to him.
   77. Russlan thinks Jose Reyes pops up too much Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:31 PM (#2122124)
I didn't see the Milledge play. On a scale of 1-10, how awful was it?
   78. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:32 PM (#2122125)
The sun isn't even out, did he lose it in the lights?

Maybe he'll hit a homer to make up for it...
   79. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:32 PM (#2122126)
Wow, these Marlins announcers are quite horrid.
   80. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:32 PM (#2122128)
If you guys are watching SNY, in between innings, Milledge walked away while Willie was talking to him.

If that were me, depending on what was being said and the context -- which we of course couldn't hear -- I'd have lifted him immediately. I'd have embarrassed the #### out of him: put Glavine in to PH, then put Endy in to RF.
   81. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:33 PM (#2122129)
If you guys are watching SNY, in between innings, Milledge walked away while Willie was talking to him.

So...Magic Endy Pixie Dust is our everyday right fielder?

WTF THIS IS ALFREDO AMEZEGA.
   82. Chris Dial Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:33 PM (#2122130)
It was a 10. *I* would have caught it.
   83. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:33 PM (#2122132)
Swinging from the heels once again.
   84. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:35 PM (#2122134)
Goddammit. That's two plays I didn't expect Amezaga to make. And goddammit, I hate the Marlin announcers.
   85. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:35 PM (#2122137)
Wow, these Marlins announcers are quite horrid.

Yes, I referred to their suckitude earlier.
   86. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:36 PM (#2122140)
Pelfrey is showing better command of his breaking pitches tonight (so far) than he has yet. Nice.
   87. Joshemy Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:38 PM (#2122145)
On the Willie-Milledge thing, after he started to walk away, Willie followed him and Milledge turned around. They chatted for a few seconds (it looked like Milledge was saying something about the lights) and then Willie went back to where he was. Willie didn't seem mad, though I wouldn't say he was pleased either.
   88. Rob Base Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:38 PM (#2122149)
Milledge has played mostly LF, RF in Norfolk this year, Rob.

Right, I know that seems like a while when you're 13, but it's not. Not everybody is going to make the transition as well as Cameron.
   89. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:39 PM (#2122150)
Beautiful inning.
   90. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:39 PM (#2122151)
Pelfrey's got his stuff working tonight.

I wish we could bump Trachsel from the rotation. Either that, or put El Duque in the freezer until the playoffs.
   91. Chris Dial Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:39 PM (#2122153)
Wow, these Marlins announcers are quite horrid.

Amen.
   92. Bob Koo Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:39 PM (#2122155)
Three balls beaten straight into the ground. Very nice.
   93. AJM Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:40 PM (#2122156)
The Marlins announcers keep me from watching any of their games (when they're not playing the Mets) since all their games are blacked out on EI for me.
   94. Banta Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:40 PM (#2122160)
Willie didn't seem mad, though I wouldn't say he was pleased either.

Although, it should be noted that there's never been a point where Willie looks pleased during a game.
   95. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:41 PM (#2122161)
You in Flordia AJM?
   96. Chris Dial Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:41 PM (#2122162)
First time I've gotten to watch Pelfrey, and he looks goooood.
   97. Chris Dial Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:42 PM (#2122164)
Wow, that K to Pelfrey was looooow.
   98. Sam M. Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:42 PM (#2122167)
First time I've gotten to watch Pelfrey, and he looks goooood.

He did against the Astros for the first few, too. Third time through the order, though . . . . Let's see tonight.
   99. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:43 PM (#2122170)
Pelfrey's lack of strikeouts so far is perplexing. Still, you gotta love those easy groundouts. Move over Doc Halladay?
   100. Bobby Bonilla's Annuity (Matt) Posted: August 01, 2006 at 07:43 PM (#2122171)
There we go. That's Alfredo Amezega.
