Phillies are officially done. It's either LA or SD in the first round.

Beltran has reached base in 29 straight games now.

If you give up home runs to Endy Chavez and 74 year old Julio Franco in the same inning you probably should consider retirement.

I just noticed that Beltran scored a run in the first inning. That set the team record.

Unless the Cardinals lose two and the Astros win two. If that happens, the Mets will play Tuesday because the Cardinals and Astros will have to play off on Tuesday for the NL Central title.

Well then I hope that doesn't happen.

Mazel Tov!

When the game started, I was a little bummed that, due to the need to rest guys for the post season, Glavine was pitching before a "B" lineup.

Somehow, I feel a bit better.

Very nice performance by Maddux against a team that's already packed it in for the post season, and a manager busy revising his [uniquely amazing] resume.

But what the heck, I'll take it.

The Giants *never* pack it in against the Dodgers.

Hey oh Glavine!

And Syracuse is 3-2. #######.

If loving Wright is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Wow. Now, that's the kind of game to go into the post-season with. Back-to-back-to-back strong outings by Maine, then El Duque, and now Glavine. Forget the pitching woes from Perez and Pedro in Atlanta -- they aren't going to be on the roster come Wednesday anyway. The pitching is looking strong. And the hitting is waking up at . . . hmmmm . . . just the right moment!

So the only way we don't face the Dodgers starting Wednesday is if they win AND the Padres lose tomorrow. If and only if that happens, it's San Diego. So we might just get that Glavine/Maddux match-up, huh? Wow.

I missed the game tonight attending a charity art auction. I had the chance to bid on a blown glass bat and baseball -- which really were magnificent -- but which together would have cost me around $1100. Instead, I was holding back to bid on an incredible painting, which I knew I wouldn't be able to afford if I went all out for the bat and ball. I would have kicked myself if I'd skipped bidding on those things, and then NOT gotten the painting, too. Fortunately, when the painting came up for bidding, I was able to win it, so all's well that ended well.
