I'll handle Franklin's accommodations for the evening.

Okay, now that was awesome. And I KNEW it was going to happen as Braun came to the plate. He is such a star.
   106. NTNgod Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2872148)
And the hits keep on coming with Fielder...
   107. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2872150)
i'm going to throw up.

The Cards are just giving away games at this point. Though I have no doubt that TLR will blame this one on the offense rather than the 13-man bullpen in which all relievers must work more than an inning per outing.

God decided to reach his hand down out of the sky and pwn Ryan Franklin personally. Must be for the PED usage.
   111. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2872154)
I felt the tremor here....
   112. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2872155)
Cards are gonna finish the season 15 games out. Which is too bad, since a three team race for two spots would be nice so long as the Cards still come in third.
   113. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2872156)
Oh, and #### TLR too.
   114. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:50 PM (#2872157)
Tony is likely thinking he should have walked the bases loaded to get to Hart....
   115. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2872158)
So I guess the Milwaukee Brewers' "Miller Player Of The Game" award ALSO goes to Ryan Franklin.
   116. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2872159)
Not a double play for Hart!!!
   117. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2872163)
Non-NL Central people - your mockery is not needed, the Cards are suffering enough.
   118. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2872165)
Sorry, Guts. I've been watching the Brewers a lot lately, which is why I'm in this thread. Not to just vicariously pop in and sling crap around.
   119. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2872167)
Glaus and Ludwick is no easy path....

Change your handle, then.

Glaus and Ludwick is no easy path....

You kidding? I'm calling 1-2-3.

Change your handle, then.
Just because I enjoy watching them doesn't mean I'm hopping onto their bandwagon. I've no right to declare myself a fan at this point. Whereas I've followed my two painfully awful teams for a long time now.
   123. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2872177)
Cards have about as much chance of pulling this out as Livan did of beating the Angels in Game 7 in 2002.
   124. Portia Stanke Posted: July 24, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2872179)
15 out with 58 left to go, huh?

Do they still teach math at community colleges?
   125. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:00 PM (#2872181)
1!!
   126. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:00 PM (#2872184)
#123 - I refer you to comment #117.
   127. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM (#2872188)
For the record any "mocking" has NOT come from Brewer fans.
   128. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM (#2872189)
2!!

One away!
   129. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM (#2872190)
Is it possible for TLR to put the hit and run on with nobody on base? Maybe he should try that.
   130. NTNgod Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:02 PM (#2872191)
The Brewer and Card hitters probably would pool their money together to make sure the homeplate ump had an "accident".
   131. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872193)
Terrible strike call. Good grief
   132. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872194)
WHO CALLED IT?
   133. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872195)
I want to apologize if any of my comments riled Cards fans here. Was not my intention to anger you all. I have always disliked Ryan Franklin, however, from his Mariners days.
   134. NTNgod Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872196)
Strikes out the side!

Eight in a row... haven't lost since the ASB began
   135. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872197)

NL Central people are exempt anyway HW, I have no problem with you or NTN. Or retro. Where is he, BTW?

3!! That's a loser! ####.
   136. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2872198)
Do they still teach math at community colleges?

I take it you are alleging 15 games out with 58 to go to be mathematically impossible?

They do teach math at CCs, you may wish to enroll.
   137. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM (#2872199)

This is not a good game to intrude upon. This game has been ####### a #### #### ##### of ########### fun.
   138. Portia Stanke Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM (#2872200)
Everything's a strike this inning.

This game was God's reminder to Cardinal fans that vicarious pursuits are, generally speaking, a bad idea.
   139. Portia Stanke Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:07 PM (#2872204)
Justin: attacking straw men doesn't impress anyone with an education, though I doubt you've had much experience with those types judging from your insults of choice.

And I'll bet you $10,000 (or more, if you like) that the Cardinals don't finish 15 out.
   140. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:09 PM (#2872206)
Whatever some may think having been on the other side of the coin I am empathetic to Cards fans.

Tony? Not so much....
   141. Guts Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:11 PM (#2872210)
Tony? Not so much....

Yeah, we know, you hate TLR. Judging from his presser, even TLR hates TLR right now.
   142. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2872211)
Well see, now you're travelling out into the realm of something we intellectuals call "staitistics" and "probability". That would not be a good wager on my part.

Making predictions is no fun if you predict that the most likely event will occur all the time. As for the Cards, I see a team that just got kicked in the nuts repeatedly and needs to try and stay in a fight with two vastly superior teams. I think it not that unrealistic that they will fall apart.

And my initial comment was just a statement along those lines. No mocking was intended, so when I was accused of it, I demonstrated what mocking truly is.

I don't consider a BBTF Game Chatter some sort of sacred place for the fans of the invlolved teams where I need to be sensitive to their emotions. Grow up.
   143. Portia Stanke Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:22 PM (#2872224)
I take that to mean that you don't think it's likely for the Cardinals to drop ten games in the standings in less than sixty games? In contrast to your earlier assertion that they would?

Leaving your emotions and intellect out of it, do you have an argument, or are you simply trolling?
   144. Justin T Posted: July 24, 2008 at 11:37 PM (#2872242)

"simply trolling"

I apologize if I wounded your ego. Have a good evening.
