Way to put some hits together, boys.
   2. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2917157)
Making Wellemeyer work early is good...
   3. whoisalhedges Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2917185)
Nice 10-pitch AB, Counsell! I'll take a K anyday if it helps us get to the Cards' bullpen sooner!
   4. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:33 PM (#2917204)
That foul ball was just a little scary
   5. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2917233)
Where are all the Cards fans? At the game??
   6. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:48 PM (#2917268)
I'll play the role of a Cardinal fan if you're looking for one Harv.

Here I am. I'm using MLB.tv's free five day trial to watch this series.

LS:

I was expecting "Guts" and "cardsfanboy". But hey, the more the merrier...........
   9. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2917289)
The benefit of a good defense. Wellenmeyer just keeps pumping 92 mph fastballs and hoping for the best.......
   10. El Hombre 2 MVPs (Le Samourai) Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2917294)
Sigh...
   11. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2917311)
After the heart of the order gacked against the Pirates thought for a moment might be a sequel.......
   12. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2917345)
Ben hasn't been able to throw his curve for a strike in a month.....
   13. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2917373)
He's been lucky so far. Matter of time before these guys catch up to the fastball. Same pattern in San Diego and just like that the roof caved in. No breaking stuff. No offspeed.

Sheets better figure something out and fast...........
   14. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2917395)
Well, except maybe Ankiel. Even when healthy, he's Corey Patterson when you throw him a high fastball.
   15. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2917400)
Geez Craig, coulda used that in the first. Ya' know??
   16. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2917406)
Cripes, Zambrano had nothing tonight. He's already gone (but the Cubs are still winning).
   17. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2917412)
Err, I mean the Cubs are tied.
   18. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2917460)
MOLINA taking a base on a curve in the dirt?
   19. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2917468)
So now he's curveball happy. Goodness....
   20. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2917488)
No harm, no foul.
   21. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2917494)
Lotta pitches. Geez.....
   22. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2917518)
Wonder if that foul off his leg last AB hurt Molina there on the throw.
   23. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2917549)
WHAT WAS PUJOLS THINKING!?!?!

3-0 Brewers!
   24. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2917556)
Jesus, that was dumb dumb dumb when first base was the easy play.
   25. assface Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2917587)
SRS, Sheets with CC's run support = Maybe not CC but CC JR
   26. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2917591)
Nice play by Hardy. Good inning for Sheets.
   27. assface Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2917599)
home run inning = counxdll, kendall, sheets

   28. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2917602)
That was a carbon copy of where Counsell placed his double LAST at-bat.
   29. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2917673)
BRAUN!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 Brew Crew!
   30. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2917691)
Gotta feel for Wellenmeyer. He hung in there.

Tony being so reluctant to go to the bullpen is a strange experience.
   31. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2917699)
Springer's first pitch shows why that might be so.
   32. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2917810)
Shouse does his bit...
   33. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2917819)
It's not Ankiel's night. Now he drops a routine liner.
   34. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2917821)
Too far, Rickie. Too far.
   35. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2917896)
Hart makes it 6-0 Brewers!
   36. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2917898)
Few extras couldn't hurt...
   37. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:00 PM (#2917907)
Cameron makes it 7-0 Brewers! Four straight hits to start the 9th...
   38. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:06 PM (#2917930)
A walk, then another hit! 10-0 Brew Crew!

Still no outs...
   39. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2917942)
The seventh hitter of the inning finally makes an out...
   40. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:09 PM (#2917945)
Goodness.....
   41. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:10 PM (#2917951)
HALL!!!!!!!!!!! 12-0 Brewers!
   42. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:11 PM (#2917957)
Now a walk.

9 hitters, eight reached
   43. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:12 PM (#2917965)
So, what will be the complaint tomorrow? That Milwaukee hit the ball too far?
   44. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:13 PM (#2917969)
Braun put his head down right away and ran to first too quickly on his HR.
   45. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2917970)
The inning is finally over. Loudest cheer of the night at Busch.
   46. retro-shiite Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:15 PM (#2917980)
The Brewers didn't like being one-upped by the Cubs' 7-run inning in Pittsburgh.
   47. NTNgod Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:21 PM (#2918008)
GAME OVER! The best the Cards can do this series - the final series of the year between the two teams - is finish where they entered it.
   48. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:24 PM (#2918014)
Sheets toughed it out without his good stuff and the offense got to the underbelly, the bullpen.
   49. retro-shiite Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:27 PM (#2918025)
I'm thinking the Cardinals are pretty much toast, but I've been wrong about them before.
   50. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:28 PM (#2918026)
My guess is somebody on the Crew takes one in the ribs tomorrow.....
   51. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: August 26, 2008 at 11:30 PM (#2918031)
Retro:

Everyone in the lineup save for Ankiel is having a fine August.

Regression to the mean and all that coupled with Looper and Lohse waking up, reaching for the pixie dust and finding it empty I think September will be tough.
