   1. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:08 PM (#1901748)
Yeah woo go SU!

My upsets today: UNC-W over GW, Utah St. over Washington and Hall over the Shockers.
   2. Dr Love Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:18 PM (#1901777)
What, no NIT thread?
   3. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:19 PM (#1901780)
Man, that is ballsy, calling a 9 over an 8.

Seth Davis just picked every underdog playing today as a possible upset.

Thanks ########.
   4. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:20 PM (#1901785)
I would much rather use the tournament pool thread
   5. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:21 PM (#1901787)
I tell ya, it's hard to root against a team called the Shockers with a mascot that looks like a large, hairy penis, but I have to represent the Big East and Louis Orr.
   6. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:22 PM (#1901789)
SJ, the only problem with using that thread is that it will be hard to find because it is in Community, which doesn't show up on the Hot Topics sidebar.
   7. Sean McNally Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:22 PM (#1901790)
Is Seton over Dreifort State really an upset?
   8. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:24 PM (#1901798)
HArd to find? Bookmark it you lazy bastard.

CAn you believe the nanny now nannies ########.

Think office space, ok, think about buttclown, but with the "dirtier" word for butt.
   9. Devin McCullen cries "Enraha!" Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:26 PM (#1901803)
Yeah, but a Game Chatter thread doesn't show up on Hot Topics anywhere but in Game Chatter.

If this isn't a shining example of what a cluster-#### this website has become I don't know what is.

How many schools are named after Sexual positions?
   12. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:29 PM (#1901812)
The online broadcast is about 2-5 seconds behind live which is kinda disappointing that the score will show up on my tv before I see it happen on my computer. But, I expected to have wait in a waiting room for about an hour before I could get in, so it's hard to complain.
   13. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:29 PM (#1901814)
I'd like it to just be in the Lounge, but since that is sacred territory now apparently, we can't.
   14. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:30 PM (#1901819)
Those rims in Greensboro today are super loose, you can hear the way the ball is coming off the rim. Totally going to change the game.

Someone needs to tighten that up.
   15. Dr Love Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:31 PM (#1901820)
How many schools are named after Sexual positions?

I don't know, but there needs to be a position called the "Oral Roberts."
   16. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:32 PM (#1901822)
I love the "Boss Button." Hilarious.

The quality of the streaming video isn't bad at all. I'm impressed. Not much of a delay either.

Although I am glad that my local CBS is televising the SU game tonight.
   17. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:33 PM (#1901831)
Oh Christ. I'm in the ####### "Virtual Waiting Room" to stream video for the tourny. Why don't I try to buy some ####### Cubs tickets while I'm waiting.
   18. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:33 PM (#1901832)
Exactly Gelb, the NCAA tournament is the topic everyone is talking about, but the lounge really really needs to discuss the proper way to make a sandwich, again.

Having said that, I do not understand Jim's fatwah against the Lounge. Why it isn't on hot topics, etc.
   19. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:34 PM (#1901833)
Huh, there were just 12 posts in here a second ago.

My picks today: Wichita, UW-Milwaukee, BC, Florida, Marquette, Winthrop, Nevada, UCLA, GW, Iona, Gonzaga, Illinois, Indiana, Syracuse, Duke, Washington.

And I'm really pissed that all the experts are jumping on Winthrop. I called it while watching the Big South tourney, and again the second the bracket showed up, and now I just look like a bandwagon jumper. That and my pick won't be worth as much if other people are jumping on it.
   20. Sean McNally Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:35 PM (#1901837)
I don't know, but there needs to be a position called the "Oral Roberts."

And its biggest conference rival - Anal Johnson.
   21. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:35 PM (#1901838)
I don't know, but there needs to be a position called the "Oral Roberts."

I believe that is considered a homosexual act.

Having said that, I do not understand Jim's fatwah against the Lounge. Why it isn't on hot topics, etc.

I also don't understand his fatwah against the usability of his website either.
   22. Sean McNally Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:37 PM (#1901841)
Oh Christ. I'm in the ####### "Virtual Waiting Room" to stream video for the tourny.

I'm in... but I ain't leaving til they kick me out.

Does Oklahoma State have a womans team? Because they would be called the "cowgirls"

And then, of course, there is the Minnesota State Double Penetrations
   24. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:38 PM (#1901849)
My speakers are acting really ###### up. It's broadcasting blues music that it's picking up from somewhere, and then randomly inserts on rotation: The Late Show theme, the Final 4 theme, and the 60 minutes theme. Never are they playing actual play by play.
   25. Dr Love Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:38 PM (#1901850)
Seton Hall is going to lose because they're from NJ.
   26. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:39 PM (#1901851)
Seton Hall can not be liking these referees.

Lang is a very impressive shot blocker.
   27. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:39 PM (#1901852)
President David Palmer is on Seton Hall!?!
   28. Sean McNally Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:39 PM (#1901855)
Thats just the Shockers-Pirates game, Sheldon.
The OU-UW-Mil audio is fine.
   29. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:39 PM (#1901856)
Not the start I imagined for the Hall.
   30. Kirby Kyle Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:40 PM (#1901857)
A dedicated thread works better than posting in the lounge anyway. Do you want sandwiches cluttering up your game chatter?
   31. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:41 PM (#1901859)
Great, we switch over to the Pacific/BC game.

I grabbed a 4 point teasedr BC(-8.5) with Tennessee(-6.5).

I am trying to build enough to get a decent start to the baseball underdogs blog.
   32. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:42 PM (#1901860)
I've got OK/UW as my local game. I really don't care much about the BC game.
   33. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:42 PM (#1901861)
I don't know if I like them cluttering the entire top of the screen with the scoreboard.
   34. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:43 PM (#1901864)
How can someone miss the rim from underneath the rim.

I should have bet more on BC.

Minnesota State Double Penetrations gets nothing? You guys are a tough crowd, that killed at the bar last night
   37. Dr Love Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:45 PM (#1901871)
And its biggest conference rival - Anal Johnson.

I thought it was

Morehead State.

It's a natural rivalry.

I really really hate Jared Dudley, I am glad he is in the ACC now. He is an embarrasment.

Heh, I was just checking my bets, I put a 5 spot on an eachway bet on Fred Couples at the Masters.

I am liking that, the odds are 101 to 1.

Are they playing in the western time zone? what time is it there, 10 AM? Who plays that early?

How retarded

Ok guys, i need some help, and i need it quick. I brought a tv in to work, so that we could watch the games, but it appears to be stuck on vcr mode, it's a very cheap vcr/tv combo tv, without a remote. There are 8 buttons; Channel up/down, volume up/down, play, stop/eject, power and record. So far, we haven't been able to come up with a fix to get it out of vcr mode.

Possible solutions:

Finding a vhs tape, putting it in, and hoping the tv resets itself.

Finding a coax cable and seeing if that being plugged in makes it go to regular tv mode (the coax adapter fell off the antenna i brought somewhere in transport or at my house.

Any other ideas from the lounge?
   45. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:54 PM (#1901890)
Jonah was discussing a sort of sabermetric approach to filling out brackets and listed teams that were considered undervalued by the ranking system using some numeric methodology developed by some guy who's name I forget.
   46. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:58 PM (#1901898)
Can you re-post the link? Sounds interesting to me.

The Hall will win this game because Whitney is a beast like nothing the Shockers have seen in the MVC.
   47. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 01:59 PM (#1901901)
I'll try to find it. I'm pretty sure it was in Monday's NYT.

The coach of PAcific scripts the first 8 plays of the game.

Ridiculous overmanagement

SJ are you 30 yet? That may be why you don't appreciate the taste. Which is really ironic to me cause MGD is what we drank when we were seniors in high school.
   51. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:02 PM (#1901916)
<i>The coach of PAcific scripts the first 8 plays of the game.</i>

I didn't know Holmgren coached hoops too. What a guy.

I am 29, and I grew up drinking MGD, we had a miller plant in our town.

It is a fine macrobrew, and I prefer it to Bud, but that is about it. I like High Life better.

Thanks Jack.

I actually have Georgetown in the Elite Eight as Jonah suggests.
   63. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:09 PM (#1901937)
I think I have Witchita State.

But I just have very little confidence in any of my brackets.

So much for BC blowing Pacific out of the water.

Hall down 16 at the half.

I am feeling a little better about teasing Bc rather than taking giving 8.5 outright.

I don't understand, if there is a pod system, why is BC all the way out in bumblefuck, utah?

Although, I suppose it fits because a team from Boston is in the ACC
   68. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:16 PM (#1901952)

having jonah mention those 2 teams just illustrates how impressive SU's run through MSG was...

Isn't Pacific in California?

Whats the deal with those cheerleaders then?
   71. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:20 PM (#1901966)

I will be in a few minutes. My coworker turned to that because the tv I brought in isn't working. Now I'm going to do the same in my little corner, because there are too many basketball neophytes asking dumb questions where he is, and I'd much rather chat with you guys.

Yep, just made it through the waiting room. I love the boss button.

We can't get the bc game though, because it's on regular tv here. Oh, the horror!!

/sarcasm

Thank god I'm not watching on regular tv, because i'd be flipping out right now that i had to watch that game instead of UWM.
   74. SouthSideRyan(CASEY'S GONE!!) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:26 PM (#1901980)
SJ's and Gelb's posts in a row make no sense, unless Gelb was being sarcastic. Or what I was told about California was all lies.

U of I got screwed in the pod system too, getting sent out to San Diego to play 3 West teams. My understanding is they place teams in the pods closest to home starting with the 1 seeds and moving down the list. What makes this so ridiculous is that this means Kansas was ranked ahead of U of I as Kansas got Auburn Hills and U of I got San Diego. What it really all comes back to in the end is Tennessee. Tennesse shoulda been a 4 and gotten San Diego while UNC would've gotten Greensboro and U of I would've got Dayton, but instead the committee did acid and put Tennessee as a 2.
   75. Bunny Vincennes Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:27 PM (#1901982)
I'm kind of pissed I'm missing UWM, though. I will be leaving here to watch Marquette.
   76. Spivey Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:27 PM (#1901983)
Seton Hall started fouling the shooters towards the end of the first half, it could have been even worse if they called that.

Seton Hall still looks like they can get open shots, so I think they've got a really good chance of coming back.
   77. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:28 PM (#1901984)

Tennesse shoulda been a 4 and gotten San Diego while UNC would've gotten Greensboro and U of I would've got Dayton, but instead the committee did acid and put Tennessee as a 2.

Tennesee were the SEC champions. They deserve to be a higher seed than UNC and U of I. I mean, really, U of I? It's ok to be a fanboy, but having them ahead of tennessee just paints you as a moron as well.
   84. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:37 PM (#1902009)
I have BC in the elite 8, but I must say, I would love a PAcific victory.

Witchita State is shooting lights out.

For Louis Orr and Seton Hall, even getting into the tourney is an accomplishment, who the hell would want to go to college in the Meadowlands?

8-14 from 3 for the Shockers, not going to beat that

Gators were the tourney champs. The NCAA committee always rewards the regular season winner of the big conferences more than the tourney winner, if they are not the same.

Is Lunardi a U of I fanboy too? Or just an idiot? He had U of I as a 2 and Tennessee as a 4. Tennessee looked horrible down the stretch. The SEC is just not a good conference.

Besides that under any definition, Tennessee did not win the SEC. LSU won the regular season, and Florida won the tourney. Tennessee was bounced by a mediocre South Carolina team. U of I was closer to the Big 10 title than Tennessee was to the SEC.
   95. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:48 PM (#1902035)

   96. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: March 16, 2006 at 02:50 PM (#1902043)
Fine, Tennessee is the regular season champs, labeling them the SEC champs is innacurate, as evidenced by this AP Headline:

AP: Gators win second straight SEC Title.
