   1. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: April 23, 2008 at 12:17 PM (#2755716)
Well, they better win this one.
   2. Billy Wagner's tears Posted: April 23, 2008 at 01:02 PM (#2755788)
Oh sweet Santana is pitching we might actually show signs of a pulse this game.
   3. Harris Posted: April 23, 2008 at 01:59 PM (#2755870)
Let's Go Nats! Let's Go Nats!

I'm really disappointed in Zimmerman's start. I was believing the hype that this would be his breakout year. Not looking like it so far.
   4. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 23, 2008 at 02:16 PM (#2755897)
Oh sweet Santana is pitching we might actually show signs of a pulse only lose by one this game.
   5. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: April 23, 2008 at 06:16 PM (#2756144)
Has Randolph said why he decided to switch the lineup after a 4 game win streak? He's freaking ridiculous.
   6. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 06:21 PM (#2756151)
Because Castillo is one of the best two hitters in the game!

Feh.
   7. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:11 PM (#2756205)
OK, I'm back, so we'll be winning tonight. That's how important I am to this team. No, really. Let me just dress up my soda cans and ivory figurines in their uniforms and perform the Naked Future Victory Dance of Benidavel Kingbayanisid in front of the TV first.
   8. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:16 PM (#2756215)
Two seriously underwhelming ABs.
   9. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:20 PM (#2756225)
Good to see the Mets left their offensive malaise in Chicago.
   10. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:23 PM (#2756231)
Johan not looking that good thus far.
   11. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:24 PM (#2756233)
Oh my god, is this going to be one of those games?
   12. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:26 PM (#2756239)
Leaving work now; fully expect the Mets to be thoroughly smacked around by the time I get home.

Really, this team is too much.
   13. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:29 PM (#2756244)
SAC FLY CARLOS
   14. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:30 PM (#2756245)
OH MY GOD AN RBI
   15. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:36 PM (#2756254)
Delgado hasn't hit anything that hard since..
   16. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:47 PM (#2756272)
Schneider's hitting .308? Wow.
   17. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:48 PM (#2756276)
Did Cohen just call Piazza ugly? Boo!
   18. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:50 PM (#2756278)
Perhaps Johan could hit 2nd?
   19. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2756280)
That was a really nice swing from Santana. Better than anything 7 out of the previous 8 hitters did.
   20. BTF's left-wing cheering section (formerly_dp) Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:52 PM (#2756282)
Reyes should sac Santana to 3B so Castillo can bunt him home...
   21. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2756284)
Those two weren't low?
   22. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:55 PM (#2756290)
Yikes. That was kind of a bad call.
   23. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 07:55 PM (#2756291)
Funky Cold Medina
   24. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:09 PM (#2756310)
God I feel sorry for Burkhardt. He really seems to have no decent sense of humor at all which makes him a poor fit for the rest of the crew.
   25. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:22 PM (#2756333)
Johan is really not being as efficient as this team needs him to be.
   26. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2756339)
Seriously? Ugh.
   27. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2756343)
Egads. It would have been nice if we could have had someone on base for our pitcher doubling deep into the gap.
   28. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:25 PM (#2756345)
Ballgame.
   29. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2756352)
Santana is pretty unimpressive.
   30. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:35 PM (#2756371)
C'mon, Jose, do something, please.
   31. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2756373)
"Something" does not include swinging at the first pitch.
   32. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2756389)
Nothing's ever easy, is it?
   33. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2756426)
No. But Something's can be.
   34. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2756439)
A something... something... strange.
   35. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2756440)
Man, Beltran is fast.
   36. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2756458)
When you're strange, I guess.
   37. Jon Koltz Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2756459)
Johan Santana = best hitter on the Mets lineup right now.
   38. Conor Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:04 PM (#2756464)
Santana is unimpressive?
   39. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2756469)
Has Reyes swung at EVERY first pitch tonight? Jesus.
   40. Cooperstown Schtick Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2756477)
Has Santana really given up two hits to Wil Nieves? The same guy who couldn't cut it as a backup catcher last year? AND an RBI double to the pitcher?

That's awful. Just awful.
   41. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2756482)
Santana is unimpressive?

Not with the bat, obviously.
   42. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2756493)
Has Reyes swung at EVERY first pitch tonight?
Have we un-retained Rickey? We need to get someone back and get someone telling that kid to take some pitches.
   43. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2756495)
Or Rick Down.
   44. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2756505)
Santana is unimpressive?

Not with the bat, obviously.
   45. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2756513)
Whoa, delayed double post... weird.
   46. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2756521)
THis is where Santana has run out of gas the last two starts.
   47. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2756526)
I wonder if Cub fans think Aaron Boone is dreck?
   48. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2756528)
Lopez will GIDP.
   49. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2756531)
Yes, he did, and hung his head instead of busting it down the line.
   50. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2756533)
That was like predicting a refrigerator door closing.
   51. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2756536)
And Santana is at 97 pitches, so I let him go another.
   52. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2756542)
Somebody's bucking for a promotion - probably that pederast Hanrahan.
   53. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2756546)
I know Santana wasn't seemingly dominant, but 7 innings, 97 pitches, 2 ER, 1.14 WHIP, 4 K, 1 BB I'll take it every week.
   54. haplo53 Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2756551)
I know Santana wasn't seemingly dominant, but 7 innings, 97 pitches, 2 ER, 1.14 WHIP, 4 K, 1 BB I'll take it every week.

The last three IP were indeed impressive.
   55. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2756607)
If he'd come out after 5 IP, Sam M. would have been quite critical of his performance.
   56. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2756611)
Here's my managerial philosophy: I would almost NEVER pinch hit for Santana there. Especially with how well he's hitting and pitching.
   57. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2756612)
Swng at the first pitch?
   58. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2756616)
No, and it was a pitch he could handle.
   59. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2756617)
But he swung at the second and third...
   60. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2756620)
Man, Reyes has looked BAD tonight.
   61. Lassus Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2756629)
Chris, Willie could cure cancer and you'd disagree. We all understand. I'm fine with a rested Duaner and Wagner with a 3-run lead.
   62. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2756654)
Beltran jaaaa-acked that one.
   63. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2756665)
Willie could cure cancer and you'd disagree.
Nearly every manager pinch hits there - that's not about Willie, and I wouldn't describe it as dumb or anything - just not what I'd do.
   64. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2756680)
Church could come through here. I must say, I am so pleased with his performance thusfar, I'm only missing Milledge for two years from now.
   65. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2756681)
ANd I didn't previously realize how strong he was defensively, but one game without him in the field - it stands out.
   66. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2756683)
Attababy.
   67. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2756686)
I think Church, given 550 ABs could be pretty damn good.
   68. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2756699)
I have nothing to say, just didn't want Dial to be all alone.

That said, I like Church too.
   69. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:11 PM (#2756701)
Nice deuce, Wags.
   70. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2756702)
Come on Wags, get Melvin.
   71. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2756703)
That's nice, Swoboda - thanks.
   72. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2756763)
And we beat the Nats with Santana. Whew...

Ollie is pretty daggone good though.
   73. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: April 23, 2008 at 11:31 PM (#2756880)
Johan Santana XBH - 3
Luis Castillo + Brian Schneider + Raul Casanova XBH - 2
   74. Chris Dial Posted: April 23, 2008 at 11:42 PM (#2756926)
Castillo in the 2-hole is brutal.
