Where'd all the chatterers go?

What, you have lives or something?
   2. BTF's left-wing cheering section (formerly_dp) Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:24 PM (#2758055)
I'm here for now...

I've got Hill on my fantasy team, considered benching him but I need the innings. I'm hoping for a low-scoring Met victory where they strike out a lot...
   3. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:26 PM (#2758059)
It's the Carlos Delgado sac bunt!
   4. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:34 PM (#2758066)
Ollie is gone irrespective of performance/intangibles after this season.
   5. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:35 PM (#2758068)
It is nice weather-

Man Boone is still alive?
   6. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:35 PM (#2758069)
Why do you say, Milo? No matter what happens he's gone, in your opinion?
   7. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:50 PM (#2758083)
He is a free agent, and Boras is his agent.
   8. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 07:55 PM (#2758090)
Boras's presence this off-season was rather muted, however. I'm not counting the A-Rod thing as that was during the playoffs.
   9. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:03 PM (#2758098)
Boy we don't look good lately at bat. It isn't just Carlos.
   10. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:05 PM (#2758100)
Hill always pitches well against the Mets.
   11. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2758107)
Blind squirrel!
   12. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2758147)
I dont think the Boras angle works as well considering the Mets are a large revenue team.

I think if Pelfrey progresses this year the odds of Perez leaving rise greatly.
   13. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:45 PM (#2758156)
I think the Mets re-sign Perez during the season.
   14. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2758163)
Nice work, Ollie. Get it together.
   15. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2758164)
perez digging himself into a whole.
   16. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:48 PM (#2758166)
Well, that's not "together".
   17. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2758168)
I never understand where the ####### coach is at this point? Why isn't the coach at the mound after a walk, hit, walk? I ###### hate that guy.
   18. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2758170)
Who is calling these pitches?
   19. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2758171)
Throw *that* pitch, but slightly up.
   20. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2758172)
Didn't Peterson visit the mound or was that last inning?
   21. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2758174)
THis is just terrible managing. SOmebody get out there and calm Ollie down. What the ####.
   22. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2758177)
Maybe they didn't show it on my TV.
   23. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2758179)
I have the Nats broadcast.
   24. Karl from NY Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2758180)
Good Ollie and Bad Ollie on the same night.
   25. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2758181)
I hate the nat announcers. Horrible spelling in 15.
   26. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2758184)
Maybe you meant a "whole lot of trouble".
   27. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2758185)
It might have been last inning where Peterson visited.
Wright went to talk to Perez before the Guzman AB.
   28. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2758187)
Throw the deuce, or the inside cutter
   29. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2758190)
Nice work, Ollie. You *solely* pissed that one away.
   30. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2758192)
If only David could throw.

Great play, though.
   31. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2758193)
Well that was a play.
   32. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2758195)
I wish Ollie would throw more stikes, even if he wasn't any more effective. Innings like that are too painful.
   33. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:59 PM (#2758198)
When was the last time the Mets hit a homer?
   34. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 08:59 PM (#2758200)
OConnor is going to throw 80% curveballs.
   35. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2758202)
Casanova just smoked a 400-foot single. It should have been a double.
   36. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2758203)
You know, I love Casanova's name and I'm sure he's better than a lot (all?) of the minor-league catchers we have but he's kind of an embarrassment as a major-league player.
   37. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2758206)
Truth be told - Ollie is probably a better runner than Casanova.
   38. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2758208)
Casanova has had some powerful RH swings. Perhaps he shouldn't switch hit.
   39. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2758209)
Casanova is not remotely close to being better than "all" the minor league catchers.
   40. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:04 PM (#2758210)
Who do we have thats better in the minors?
   41. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2758211)
I like the Casanova pickup. He's better than Difelice and Stinnet for sure.
   42. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2758212)
Blargh.
   43. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2758213)
Oh, you mean *our* minors.
   44. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2758214)
And this is where we have to recognize when a pitcher can or cannot go an extra inning. Now, really IMO, this is okay - the next hitter is a LHB, albeit one that hit the ball hard and walked, and then maybe I bring in a reliever.

Nieves is terrible though.
   45. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2758215)
Nice play, Ollie.
   46. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2758217)
Nice play, Ollie. Now I actually bring in Smith for the DP.
   47. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2758218)
See, we have to be smarter than this.
   48. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2758219)
I think I dislike Washington more than the Braves.
   49. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2758220)
Wow, this is certainly an entertaining matchup.
   50. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2758221)
Heilman. I told you guys he lost his job the other night.
   51. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2758222)
I might walk Milledge here.
   52. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2758224)
A poor outing from Ollie.
   53. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2758226)
Changeups away, Heilman. Do not challenge Milledge with a fastball.
   54. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2758227)
Not a bad call, Russlan.
   55. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2758228)
"A poor outing". He was one out from a Quality Start.
   56. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2758229)
Who do we have thats better in the minors?

How about that Flores kid? Oh yeah...
   57. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2758231)
Using Heilman is good because he can go next inning too, but really, I would have used Smith.
   58. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2758232)
1 more change, Aaron.
   59. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2758234)
Damn, this could get ugly. Step it up, Aaron.
   60. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2758235)
I couldn't tell if the hammered pitch was a change or not.
   61. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2758238)
THis is the worst umpiring crew EVAR.
   62. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2758239)
Who do we have thats better in the minors?

How about that Flores kid? Oh yeah...

There's that new German kid we just signed.
   63. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2758241)
Make him chase a change, Aaron.
   64. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2758242)
Great pitch there. THe change should get Lopez here.
   65. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2758244)
AAHH.
   66. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2758247)
BTW, Heilman is the new Greg McMichael.

THis umpire is ####### terrible.
   67. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2758248)
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
   68. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2758249)
Is that the second GS Heilman has allowed this year?
   69. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2758250)
HA
HA
HA
HA
HA
FINALLY
   70. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2758251)
Aaron Heilman is cooked.
   71. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2758252)
Oh dear. Who does Heilman have pictures of to keep getting tossed out here?
   72. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2758253)
And now Heilman might be out of a job. I would send him down to get fixed.
   73. Raskolnikov Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2758255)
Get Heilman out. He needs to figure this out in the minors.
   74. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2758257)
Heilman doesn't have options.
   75. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2758258)
Well, Heilman may recognize he's got issues after this performance.
   76. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2758259)
Heilman doesn't have options.
He can accept the request. Or give him a mop.

WTF? Might as well throw Sosa. Like I said - use Joe Smith. Willie is a moron.
   77. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2758260)
25-10. The Mets are being outhomered.
   78. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2758261)
Even if Heilman accepted, wouldn't he have to pass waivers?
   79. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2758262)
25-10. The Mets are being outhomered.

Utley has as many HRs as we do. I think that might be a problem.

If only the all time HR champ were available...
   80. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2758264)
Did Trachsel have to in 01?
   81. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2758266)
Even if Heilman accepted, wouldn't he have to pass waivers?

I wouldn't think so. He's under contract - it's just a matter of where he plays.
   82. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2758267)
I am pretty sure Trachsel did.
   83. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2758270)
Trax had to agree. I'm pretty sure you don't have to clear waivers. Ray King of the Nats was asked today.
   84. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2758271)
I think I'm hallucinating. I saw a home run.
   85. Conor Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2758273)
Do we know if Alou will be back tomorrow?
   86. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2758276)
Remember when we talked about how Peterson got everyone to stop walking people? Good times.
   87. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2758277)
We have more errors than Home runs.
   88. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2758280)
Um, that was actually a bad hop, I think. It wasn't under the glove, but to the side.
   89. Esoteric roots for the two worst teams in baseball Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2758281)
I never thought errors would look so beautiful.
   90. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2758282)
I defend official scorers all the time, but that's a ####### error by Delgado.
   91. haplo53 Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2758284)
This team is simply broken.
   92. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2758285)
I don't give a #### if it is a mildly bad hop. Delgado didn't make the play because he was trying to be in position to turn two, rather than just fielding the ball. It's an error if the play "could be made with ordinary effort". Delgado could have easily made that play.
   93. Lassus Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2758287)
Burkhardt, you are not funny. Please stop.
   94. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2758288)
Actually, haplo, looking at Delgado after that error, he as just shaking his head in disgust at himself, like "WTF?"
   95. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2758293)
Okay, I am thinking Dlegado's about done (and believe it or not he hit worse last April).
   96. Chris Dial Posted: April 24, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2758294)
So we have 12 errors and 11 home runs. DO we have the fewest HRs in the game?
   97. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 24, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2758308)
Well that sucked
   98. Swoboda is freedom Posted: April 24, 2008 at 10:25 PM (#2758311)
Kansas City and Oakland have 9 home runs. Minnesota was tied with 10 before tonight. San francisco had 11, as did Washington, but I think they might have had one tonight, Not quite sure.
   99. Dan Posted: April 24, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2758322)
Oakland had 2 home runs today, to be at 11.
   100. Dan Posted: April 24, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2758323)
As did KC, but they have a second game in a DH coming up too.
