I don't care what the odds are, I'm taking the over!
   2. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 12:35 PM (#2793226)
So, Nick Evans is up. He may be starting.

A funny exchange:

<quote>Someone asked Randolph about Jose Reyes getting picked off second base in the 10th inning after hustling for a double.

“It stuns you a little bit,” Randolph said. “You don’t expect to get pissed off.”

Randolph corrected himself, “You don’t expect to get picked off,” as everyone suffered a laugh, including the manager.

“I’ve got to laugh,” he said. “Believe me. I need that.”</quote>

Laugh it up, Willie.
   3. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 02:50 PM (#2793317)
Awesome, Evans is starting. But, uh, Tatis is batting fifth.

Kill me.

* 3B David Wright
* CF Carlos Beltran
* RF Fernando Tatis
* 1B Carlos Delgado
* C Ramon Castro
* LF Nick Evans

I won't be around for today's game, but Nick Evans will clearly be our savior.
   5. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 03:22 PM (#2793347)
You could make the argument (and I won't) that Evans should be batting sixth at the very least.

Yeah, you love youth, Willie. ####### tool.
   6. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 03:50 PM (#2793362)
Good. No Joe Buck.

But Eric Karros! Noo!
   7. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 03:55 PM (#2793363)
Haha. Great lineups by Schoeneweis.
   8. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 03:55 PM (#2793364)
Suckenweis looks a bit punchy reading the lineup.
   9. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 03:57 PM (#2793365)
I mean, Ramon Castro does look like Shrek.

But yeah, looks like it was a rough night for Show.
   10. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:01 PM (#2793368)
Wow. Two men on.
   11. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:02 PM (#2793369)
Wow. Double steal.
   12. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:03 PM (#2793370)
Yeah, David. Don't feel the need to knock a dinger. Try for a groundout to second.
   13. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:03 PM (#2793371)
So, bases loaded, none out. How will the Mets #### this one up?
   14. Raskolnikov Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:03 PM (#2793372)
Alright, let's hammer him, Carlos.
   15. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:04 PM (#2793373)
Carlos! HOLY ####!
   16. Raskolnikov Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:04 PM (#2793374)
CARLOS!
   17. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:04 PM (#2793375)
YES!!! QUE HORA ES?!
   18. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:05 PM (#2793376)
Sadly, three runs is not nearly enough for Vargas. Try eight.
   19. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:07 PM (#2793378)
Fernando Tatis is unstoppable.
   20. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:09 PM (#2793379)
Karros is a ####### cliche machine. Make it stop.
   21. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2793381)
Carlos Delgado: Still sucks.
   22. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2793382)
You're SO awesome, Reanimated Corpse of Delgado.
   23. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2793383)
NO! Nick Evans took Timo's number. Forever cursed.
   24. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:11 PM (#2793384)
NICK EVANS IS OUR SAVIOR!
   25. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:13 PM (#2793386)
C'mon Jose. Huge AB here.
   26. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:15 PM (#2793387)
Anyways: Mets players that have worn No. 6 since Timo Perez ###### the 2000 World Series:

Gutierrez, Ricky -- Painful.
Williams, Gerald -- One of the worst times in recent memoriy.
Wilson, Tom -- Who?
Keppinger, Jeff -- Should be starting at 2B.
DiFelice, Mike -- A cancer.
Gotay, Ruben -- See "Keppinger, Jeff."
Molina, Gustavo -- Cool name.
   27. Raskolnikov Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:15 PM (#2793389)
Nick Evans has a nice stroke.
   28. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:20 PM (#2793391)
I'd appreciate it if Vargas dusted Holliday here.
   29. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:21 PM (#2793393)
This team sucks. So much.
   30. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:29 PM (#2793396)
DAVID!
   31. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:29 PM (#2793397)
DAVID!!! OPPO POP!
   32. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:31 PM (#2793398)
Francis isn't fooling anybody today.

Except Carlos Delgado.
   33. Swedish Chef Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:35 PM (#2793401)
Looks like I have a reasonable chance of winning my bet.
   34. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:40 PM (#2793405)
Eric Karros hurts my brain.
   35. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:44 PM (#2793409)
Oh Delgado. So sad.
   36. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:45 PM (#2793410)
What's even more depressing is that Willie sees this and still plays him against lefties.
   37. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:47 PM (#2793411)
NICK EVANS IS OUR SAVIOR!
   38. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:47 PM (#2793412)
Well, you can see why Evans rakes against southpaws.
   39. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:48 PM (#2793413)
Yeah. His splits:

vs. LHB: .349/.414/.683
vs. RHB: .259/.322/.454
   40. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 04:56 PM (#2793415)
Nice stroke, eh?
   41. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 05:51 PM (#2793428)
Well, Vargas has been good.
   42. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:09 PM (#2793434)
I said I was going to stay away but I lied. If the Mets lose this game, I will clearly be the reason why they suck.
   43. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:11 PM (#2793436)
Pretty impressive start for Vargas considering it was on short rest.
   44. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:13 PM (#2793437)
Clearly, Nick Evans is MVP.
   45. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:13 PM (#2793439)
Evans has had four really good AB's today. Great job!
   46. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:13 PM (#2793440)
3 doubles for Evans. Nice debut.
   47. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:14 PM (#2793441)
Dick Stockton is as stoopid as his poached egged eyes will allow.
   48. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:14 PM (#2793443)
Dick Stockton is so stupid his hair dye died.
   49. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:15 PM (#2793444)
Dick Stockton is so schtupid he's stupid.
   50. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:17 PM (#2793446)
I met Dick Stockton once at the Meadowlands and he scared my kids.
   51. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:18 PM (#2793447)
Stockton's wife's crappy hat collection is sharper than Dick.
   52. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:18 PM (#2793448)
Dick Stockton: Syracuse grad. Woo.
   53. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:18 PM (#2793449)
Stockton hasn't done baseball since Joe Foy was sober.
   54. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:20 PM (#2793450)
Stockton's a pretty good basketball announcer. I hope they keep Evans around as a platoon partner for Delgado at the very least, and he should probably get some time in LF as well. It's not like those Chavez and Anderson are all-stars.
   55. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:22 PM (#2793452)
Sloppy Sanchez!
   56. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:31 PM (#2793459)
Nice HR call, Stockton...jeez this is pathetic.
   57. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:31 PM (#2793460)
Delgado continues to do nothing offensively but hit the occasional homer.
   58. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:32 PM (#2793462)
Repoz, I am getting the felling you don't like Stockton.

That's Delgado third homer in three days.
   59. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:32 PM (#2793463)
Karros' exploding hair is a better partner.
   60. haplo53 Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:32 PM (#2793464)
Why take Evans out?
   61. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:34 PM (#2793465)
Double switch for defense.
   62. haplo53 Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:35 PM (#2793466)
Double switch for defense.

Not many are better than Endy, I guess... but how is Evans defensively? I'm following on Gameday so I haven't seen any of his putouts.
   63. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2793468)
Yeah, Evans isn't exactly golden in the OF.
   64. Repoz Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2793470)
That's Delgado third homer in three days.

Russlan...You just told me more than Stockton did in the last three hours!

And you're better looking!
   65. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2793472)
Vargas will probably keep his rotation spot when Pedro comes back. Pelfrey will be getting sent down.
   66. haplo53 Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:36 PM (#2793473)
Braves win on a walk-off homer from Francouer. Bleh.
   67. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:37 PM (#2793475)
Willie knows he can trust Tatis. He's got that stench of experience about him.
   68. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 24, 2008 at 06:46 PM (#2793483)
Karros does bring up a good point. The Mets are lucky to be relatively close to their competition considering their struggles.
   69. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: May 24, 2008 at 11:55 PM (#2793771)
Nick Evans!
