We're going to win today. I'm so confident of this fact that I'm starting John Maine in CO for my fantasy team.

Well, NICK EVANS! 3-for-4 was good enough to move him to seventh. But to be put in front of Brian Schneider (0-for-his-last-14), that'll take like three home runs today.

Reyes, ss
Castillo, 2b
Wright, 3b
Beltran, cf
Delgado, 1b
Schneider, c
Evans, lf
Chavez, rf
Maine, rhp

Lame, Jose, very lame.

Yeah, belabor the crappy lineup. Like that matters.
   5. Lassus Posted: May 25, 2008 at 03:19 PM (#2794065)
Oh jesus christ.
   6. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 25, 2008 at 03:25 PM (#2794069)
You know, if they don't beat this disgraceful lineup, Randolph deserves to be fired Monday.

If Bill James thinks Jose is the best baserunner in baseball, he's an idiot.

Jose has made a lot of stupid outs on the bases this year. He's never been this bad.
   9. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 25, 2008 at 03:51 PM (#2794086)
Forget the change, Johnny. Give him the heater.
   10. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 25, 2008 at 03:53 PM (#2794087)
John Maine may be my favorite Met right now.
   11. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 25, 2008 at 03:56 PM (#2794088)
Maine's completely scrapped the slider. I'd like to see him throw it occasionally, especially against righties.

Maine strikes out the side in the third. He's gangster.
   13. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:01 PM (#2794092)
I think Russlan means 'gangsta'.

Blame Canada.

Maine is going to have to be good because the Mets aren't going to score more than 2 or three runs off Cook.
   15. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:05 PM (#2794099)
Really, I have no words for this.
   16. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:06 PM (#2794100)
Reyes is completely out of whack right now. That was a perfect double play ball.
   17. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:08 PM (#2794103)
There's the game. Thanks, Jose.
   18. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:09 PM (#2794105)
Blah, I gtg. I jinxed Maine although he would have been out of the inning if Reyes wasn't messed up.
   19. haplo53 Posted: May 25, 2008 at 04:20 PM (#2794123)
Thanks, Jose.

Never thought I'd say it, but I dislike Jose Reyes.

Is Jose thought to be a mentally fragile player? I ask because I feel like I heard that a lot during his slump last season, and now with all of the stupid baserunning and defensive errors he's been making over the last few weeks...it just seems like something (the team's fortunes, perhaps) have gotten into his head.

I normally resist that kind of armchair psychologizing, but damn. It just seems that every time I pop into this game thread, I see a sequence of posts saying something like "thanks for nothing, Jose," and I already know what just happened.

Oh, and just remember: it could be worse. You could be a Mariners fan, like me. The M's just keep finding all sorts of humiliating and inventive ways to lose these days.

Wow.

HA!

Cohen can't lay his black righteous cloud over Keith's love of the wave!

What a great moment.
   24. Lassus Posted: May 25, 2008 at 05:18 PM (#2794197)
God what an crappy inning that was.
   25. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 26, 2008 at 12:58 AM (#2794435)
They have to fire him now, right?
