Skip gets on the hard way.
   102. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2840940)
Not a good place to hit and run, can't be too worried and Skip and Miles combining for a DP.
   103. Chris Dial Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2840941)
Somebody tell Miles to stay n the ####### box.
   104. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2840944)
Yes! The switch is back to off.
   105. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2840948)
Albert looked bad there. He was guessing big time.
   106. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2840949)
I didn't even notice the loss of the announcers until you said something (of course I was on the phone so wasn't really paying attention)
   107. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2840950)
He struck out Pujols!?
   108. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2840956)
dang, sound is working again.
   109. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2840958)
Needed someone slower than Endy there.
   110. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2840959)
You have to love Alberts agressive defense.
   111. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2840960)
You know what would be great? A real hitter batting second.
   112. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2840965)
I can't imagine Jimmy gets anything but an amazing reception. No Cardinal fan is going to pissed at him - he wanted a job, and the Cubs gave it to him. To expect him to turn it down is nuts.

Edmonds was outstanding for 7 seasons here, he was the best or second best player on three teams, two of which were the best in the league and the other won the WS. He will be cheered.

agreed 100%, possibly a standing O for his first at bat, we weren't able to give him a goodbye tour.

another three hit inning, this time they do get a run.
   114. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2840970)
Yay Carlos.

Come on Church!
   115. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2840971)
I hear thunder. Rain delay may be forthcoming.

Nice work to get the K - that was big.
   116. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2840972)
Dammit. Delgado's not getting these runs in.
   117. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2840973)
hope no rain delay, but of course for this season that would be par for the course
   118. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2840976)
will this be the 5th? bases loaded walk this week(if it happens)
   119. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2840977)
A walk. Doesn't really matter because Easley is going to ground out weakly.
   120. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2840978)
Walking Delgado may have been a poor decision there.

But it does bring up Easley.
   121. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2840984)
Is it blasphemy to say LaRue is playing better D than Yadi right now?
   122. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2840986)
frick, frack.
   123. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2840987)
####.
   124. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2840988)
Easley! I knew he'd come through!
   125. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2840989)
Easley hits in the clutch. I'll give him that.
   126. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2840990)
Just heard some loud thunder this time.
   127. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2840992)
Needed that one batter ago.
   128. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2840996)
home and road record are almost the same (we lose tonite I believe they will be 24-19 both) too bad we don't have the same home field advantage we have been enjoying in the new park.
   129. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2840998)
End of the bat again.
   130. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2840999)
should clarify (relative to overall record,)
   131. Raskolnikov Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2841000)
I'm insane when it comes to Pedro. But he can get it to 93 with effort - give him time to find his command again, and he will be an ace for us.
   132. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2841001)
Rain delay time!
   133. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2841003)
We could see a cycle on ESPN.
   134. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2841007)
damn game stopped, not sure which of my five new books I should read, (It's mostly just a toss up between Rob Neyer Baseball Legends and Michio Kaku Physics of the Impossible---both have short enough chapters and are well written enough that they are easy to get engrossed)

well hopefully it's a fast rain, haven't looked at any forecasts..
   135. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2841009)
Have turned to ESPN - hopefully they can finish this game before 12am.
   136. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2841012)
Man, Tropicana is ugly as hell.
   137. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2841013)
damn red sox ahead
   138. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2841018)
what about Brett Favre?
   139. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2841024)
assuming the Cardinals don't go to the World Series, my dream World Series this season would be the Cubs beating the Rays.
   140. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2841029)
I can't stand Vitale....
   141. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2841030)
my dream World Series this season would be the Cubs beating the Rays.

The Cubs will not win the WS.
   142. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2841042)
The Cubs will not win the WS.

until they do they have that underdog mystique or pitiful franchise. The Red Sox recent success has turn them from a team to feel empathy for, to another evil empire. Almost nobody outside of Boston(Boston roots) likes the Red Sox. and they are probably top 5 'hated' teams in baseball now, something that wasn't the case just five years ago. The Cubs have sympathy fans that will go away once they win something.
   143. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2841043)
Vitale is one of the most despicable human beings alive.
   144. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2841046)
Weather.com has scattered thunder storms through the night. They may not resume this game.
   145. Raskolnikov Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2841096)
I think they're about to start up again.
   146. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2841106)
Now they're interviewing Joe Buck. At least he's no Vitale.
   147. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2841108)
Since completing the 4th inning against the Rockies, here's what Pedro did up until Glaus's homer:

22.74 ERA, 6.1 IP, 17 hits, 3 hr, 5 strikeouts, 5 walks, 3.47 WHIP, and .500 BABIP.

Yikes.
   148. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2841115)
144 and 145 have me confused.

But I"m home from a 14-hour day and am ready for a comeback.
   149. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:09 PM (#2841123)
That was ugly.
   150. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:14 PM (#2841148)
Reyes has been tremendous offensively.
   151. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:15 PM (#2841151)
I dunno, Reyes didn't look like he's lost a step on that triple.
   152. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:15 PM (#2841155)
Yes! We'll take that break!
   153. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:15 PM (#2841156)
So, that was remarkably poor.
   154. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2841157)
What was that about fundamentals?

I love playing little league teams. ;-)
   155. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2841158)
Nobody asked you, Lassus. :)
   156. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2841162)
man, how can we keep allowing a team like the Mets to get back in the game. These are the type of games we are supposed to win easily.
   157. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:18 PM (#2841165)

I missed it, was enjoying watching the Rays dismantle the Red Sox bullpen.
   158. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:18 PM (#2841167)
The Mets are just getting a ridiculous number of hits in this series. Pineiro does not look like he has his best control.

First, what position do you play? Second, what do you mean by team like the Mets? With Church, the Mets have an above average offense.
   160. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2841177)
Nice play, Albert. Now, get some hits.
   161. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2841180)

yep, I don't think it's the magic disappearing, but it could be the pressure of actually playing a good team (regardless of the Mets actual record) as our magic pitchers haven't shown the quality that we have enjoyed this season.
   162. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2841184)

a team that has had problems coming back from a deficit this season.
   163. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2841185)
OK, Pedro, don't suck.
   164. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2841187)
Jesus, LaRue deserves 2 outs for that mustache.
   165. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2841188)
Is Jason LaRue serious with that look?
   166. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:25 PM (#2841193)
Sigh, Reyes.
   167. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:25 PM (#2841195)
I have to agree with Al on this, that side arm crap from a shortstop is not a smart baseball play.
   168. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:26 PM (#2841196)
Pedro can't afford that tonight, Jose. Get the #### on the ball.
   169. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:26 PM (#2841197)
Man, Reyes. Pedro could have used an easy inning.
   170. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2841202)
Rays just take the 7-4 lead. scored 6 runs so far in the 6th inning.
   171. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2841205)
Woo Tampa!
   172. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2841204)
You know, Pedro has actually looked good the last 3 innings. I have hope.
   173. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:27 PM (#2841206)
Nicely done, Pedro.
   174. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2841212)
(meant to say 7th inning in post 170)
   175. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841224)
Easley? Really?
   176. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841226)
Wow, where did this Easley come form?
   177. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841227)
Delgado has some massive day/night splits.
   178. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841228)
Easley is their best hitter?
   179. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841229)
Darn it, I was hoping that LaRussa would walk Schneider here.
   180. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:33 PM (#2841230)
Easley has a really short stroke.
   181. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2841232)
Schneider is such an idiot. He should know that Piniero isn't throwing him a fastball there. He is a really bad baseball player.
   182. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2841233)
Thankfully that weak #### didn't work.
   183. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2841237)
Schneider has absolutely no power.
   184. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2841238)
Easley has a really short stroke.

I figure that was something only his wife would know.
   185. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2841243)
AFLAC question points out once again the loss of potential for Ankiel as a pitcher.
   186. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2841244)
Sigh....pitcher Rick Ankiel. Damn, he was good.
   187. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:38 PM (#2841247)
on a 2-2 pitch Albert is going deep.
   188. Raskolnikov Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:38 PM (#2841249)
Pedro looks good again. I still believe, especially when he can still touch 93.
   189. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:39 PM (#2841253)
ok, guess not.
   190. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:39 PM (#2841255)
Yusmero Petit having a decent start so far tonight for AZ. First start of the year, I think.
   191. Raskolnikov Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2841261)
Pedro wins that battle.
   192. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2841262)
End of the ####### bat again.
   193. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2841263)
I still can't believe Beltran plays that deep.
   194. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2841265)
How blessed athletically is a guy like Ankiel?
   195. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2841266)
Pedro did a great job there on Pujols. He challenged him on 3-1, got the fastball in enough on 3-2, threw a nice curve that was fouled, and retired him on the cutter. I would not write him off just yet.
   196. Raskolnikov Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2841267)
Agh.
   197. Bob Koo Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2841269)
Well, that cutter was no good.
   198. cardsfanboy Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2841270)
He's not bad as a hitter either
   199. Guts Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2841271)
Albert wanted that HR, dammit.
   200. Lassus Posted: July 02, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2841272)
They jinxed him!

Gary, Keith, and Rask all working together.
