Keith rocks. Punch Reyes. Get him pumped up. Let's go!
   2. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 01:51 PM (#2843300)
Anything less than a split and I can't see the Mets winning the division. This one is a must win.
   3. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 02:21 PM (#2843345)
Carlos Delgado had himself a week, didn't he? 8 games, 9 hits, 4 homers, 3 doubles, 7 runs, 14 RBI, and a .333/.441/.889 batting line. He raised his OPS by 57 points. If he had a respectable BABIP (which isn't unreasonable considering his strong LD%), he'd be having a good season.
   4. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 06:33 PM (#2843584)
With the pitching matchup tonight, this one is a must for the Mets.
   5. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 04, 2008 at 06:43 PM (#2843590)
Aguila starting. Nice.
   6. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 06:47 PM (#2843596)
Seriously?

Alou can't get back fast enough...

Or can he?

YES!
   7. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:03 PM (#2843606)
I don't get the Aguila love. He might be better than Tatis. Then again, he might not.
   8. manchestermets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:06 PM (#2843608)
Are they having some kind of sweepstake to see who the worst player who can start a game in one of the corners is or something?
   9. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:07 PM (#2843609)
I'm on the radio broadcast tonight.
   10. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:08 PM (#2843611)
Aguila is playing for Church? I disagree with this.
   11. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:09 PM (#2843612)
Well, that came out kind of weird, I was distracted. I'm NOT ACTUALLY ON the radio broadcast, although that would be great if I was. I'm in a place with no cable is all I mean, so I'm listening to Howie and that other guy who's name always escapes me.
   12. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:12 PM (#2843616)
Booooo David!

Why aren't you even better than you are? Or perfect? Eat ####!
   13. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:13 PM (#2843617)
So its going to be one of those nights, eh?
   14. manchestermets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:13 PM (#2843618)
Tut, David.
   15. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:16 PM (#2843620)
Go #### yourself, Santana.
   16. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:17 PM (#2843623)
Looked safe.
   17. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:17 PM (#2843624)
I was joking, btw. Why I do feel like you aren't, Metsdemeanors? ;-)
   18. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:19 PM (#2843626)
He was out.
   19. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:19 PM (#2843629)
It was a two-strike hit. Lassus knows how I roll.
   20. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:20 PM (#2843632)
As far as your #10, Russlan, who knows how Church's head is or what he may have told Jerry? Even if he said nothing at all, I don't mind some caution for this first game as long as he plays the next three.
   21. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:21 PM (#2843633)
Fortunate son you are.
   22. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:22 PM (#2843635)
Santana is an excellent fielder.
   23. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:22 PM (#2843636)
As far as your #10, Russlan, who knows how Church's head is or what he may have told Jerry? Even if he said nothing at all, I don't mind some caution for this first game as long as he plays the next three.

Why do you hate freedom, babies, and kittens, Lassus?
   24. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:23 PM (#2843637)
Carlos Delgado has a higher OPS+ than Howard.
   25. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:24 PM (#2843638)
I like that Johan is getting more groundballs this year.

Why is Delgado starting against the lefty? Even a shitty one?
   26. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:25 PM (#2843639)
Carlos Delgado has a higher OPS+ than Howard.

So Delgado is the tallest midget?
   27. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:25 PM (#2843640)
Wow if the rain causes us to lose this pitching matchup that would suck.

Delgado is probably playing cause he is red hot right now.
   28. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:25 PM (#2843641)
Because the only other option is Fernando Tatis? They don't like Pascucci for whatever reason.
   29. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:27 PM (#2843644)
Why do you hate freedom, babies, and kittens, Lassus?

I not particularly fond of babies, actually.

Howie just said this Phillies pitcher was a bright kid, using "he went to Northwestern" as the reasoning.
   30. Metman died today. Or yesterday maybe, Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:27 PM (#2843646)
Hamels has a better ERA+ than Santanna
Moyer has a better ERA+ than Maine
Kendrick has the same ERA+ as Pelfrey
Eaton has a better ERA+ than Perez
Myers has a better ERA+ than Pedro

LOL. Up is down. Black is white.
   31. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:27 PM (#2843647)
Delgado is red hot because he's been facing righthanders. Manuel needs to qualify this 'Hot Hand' ####.
   32. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:28 PM (#2843648)
Good job by Castro of clearing the pitcher.
   33. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:28 PM (#2843649)
Tatis can't hit anybody though.
   34. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:28 PM (#2843650)
Bighead keeps on hitting.
   35. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:29 PM (#2843651)
Oh, my bad, Aguila is batting 8th.
   36. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:30 PM (#2843654)
Happ has a nice change.
   37. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:30 PM (#2843655)
It is hard to believe Castro finally isn't hitting 8th.
   38. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:30 PM (#2843657)
Wasn't there one lefty Delgado started against in this hot streak?

ARGH
   39. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:31 PM (#2843658)
Pettitte did start in the last week.

Werth is really annoying.
   40. Metman died today. Or yesterday maybe, Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:32 PM (#2843659)
Mets ERA+= 98
Phils ERA+ = 114

For real?
   41. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:33 PM (#2843660)
I remember Pedro cruising along. He's no hitting the Dodgers. Antonio Perez hits a triple that Urinal Ice should have caught.

Then this Werth ####### yanks one. Mets lose. We've been enemies ever since.
   42. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:33 PM (#2843661)
Delgado got a hit off Mulder as well.

Have the Phillies still only used their original 12 pitchers from opening day? Thats impressive.

Great, rain.
   43. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:34 PM (#2843662)
It could ####### snow tonight and it wouldn't shock me.
   44. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:35 PM (#2843663)
Ever since I dropped Burrell from my fantasy team last year, he's hit like Manny Ramirez.

Hopefully my magic works with Ollie, who I dropped right before his excellent start against the Yanks.
   45. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:37 PM (#2843664)
The Phils bullpen has been ridiciously good. They won't be this good in the second half.
   46. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:37 PM (#2843666)
So what's the deal with Wilmer Flores? Is the consensus he may not be able to stay at SS? The kid is 6-3 175 at 16, so I imagine he's got some growing to do.
   47. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:38 PM (#2843667)
I guess Armas is the long man tonight if it rains?
   48. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:38 PM (#2843668)
I was afraid there would be rain tonight. Seems to be raining everywhere else in the country this week.
   49. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:40 PM (#2843672)
It'd be funny if Endy went deep while Happ's parents are being interviewed.
   50. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:41 PM (#2843673)
It's rained here just about everyday for at least two weeks.
   51. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:42 PM (#2843674)
Flores might be hurt. He was taken out of the game yesterday and isn't playing today. Rask is probably suicidal.
   52. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:42 PM (#2843675)
This is going to be a long game.
   53. Doris from Rego Park Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:43 PM (#2843676)
That Rollins-Reyes graphic didn't quite help Gary 'Milkman' Cohen's point.
   54. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2843678)
Chavez be good.
   55. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2843679)
Geez Endy.

Yeah, that graphic was funny, Reyes and Rollins were pretty close and Gary acted like it was a runaway.
   56. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2843683)
Endy is so damn good at defense.
   57. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:44 PM (#2843684)
That Rollins-Reyes graphic didn't quite help Gary 'Milkman' Cohen's point.

Illustrate for those watching the Philles' telecast.

Chavez plays D well.
   58. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:46 PM (#2843687)
It was the guys stats vs the other team since the start of 07. Gary said something like "The mets have struggled against the Phillies since the start of last year and the numbers between the 2 SS paint a picture why". Meanwhile, they were pretty close. Reyes had a better OBP, similar runs, etc. Rollins did have a better BA.
   59. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:46 PM (#2843689)
.341 AVERAGE!!! Teh SUPERIOR!!!111

You'd be better served watching Wagner's performance against Pat Burrell.
   60. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:48 PM (#2843691)
(Expletive deleted) Cohen.

I predict that the Mets score in this inning. By the way, did anyone else see that interview where Johan called out the offense?
   61. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:48 PM (#2843692)
Not to mention the Mets are leading the season series 4-2 this year.
   62. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2843696)
We may regret not getting Reyes home in the first.
   63. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2843697)
Happ looking awfully good. Of course.
   64. Metman died today. Or yesterday maybe, Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:51 PM (#2843698)
I predict that the Mets score in this inning.

The Mets are going to lose today, aren't they?
   66. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2843701)
To answer my question from before, it looks like the Phils have gotten all their IP from their original 12 guys this year.
   67. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:54 PM (#2843703)
Reese Havens is hitting .190/.346/.571. He's a mini-Adam Dunn!
   68. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:54 PM (#2843704)
How does JC Romero (24 BB and 30 K and 4 HR in 33 IP) have a 232 ERA+?
   69. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:54 PM (#2843705)
Trivia: Blue Jays.
   70. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:55 PM (#2843706)
Seanez has 16 BB and 18 K in 25 IP and a 180 ERA+.
   71. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:56 PM (#2843708)
How does JC Romero (24 BB and 30 K and 4 HR in 33 IP) have a 232 ERA+?

Lies, damn lies, statistics, and JC Romero.
   72. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:57 PM (#2843710)
Wow, lefties are 4-59 with a 289 OPS off Romero.
   73. manchestermets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:57 PM (#2843711)
Why is Reese Havens DHing? I don't know who Jacob Eigsti is, but I can't see any reason why he'd be keeping Havens from SS.
   74. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2843712)
Jimmy Rollins OPS+ the last 5 years: 102, 97, 101, 118, 104.

Which one looks like the outlier, Gary?
   75. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2843713)
danger time with Burrell.
   76. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2843714)
Havens isn't healthy yet.
   77. Conor Posted: July 04, 2008 at 07:59 PM (#2843715)
I wish they hit it to Endy every time.
   78. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:00 PM (#2843716)
I predict the Mets don't score this inning.
   79. manchestermets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2843718)
Thanks Russlan.
   80. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2843719)
Aren't they moving Havens to second?
   81. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:05 PM (#2843726)
BTW, Brian Bannister got lit up again today. 82 ERA+ now.
   82. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2843728)
Castro!

Figures that it would go over the fence.
   83. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2843729)
Damn groundrule double bounce.
   84. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2843730)
There's even been talk about moving him to catcher.
   85. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2843731)
Aguila, you had better hit a SF at the very least.
   86. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:09 PM (#2843732)
A Santana grand slam would be great.
   87. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2843733)
Nice PA.

Come on Johan!
   88. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2843734)
Nice job by Aguila to work the walk after falling behind.

Santana, do it yourself.
   89. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2843735)
The Mets are worst hitting team with the bases loaded ever.
   90. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2843737)
That was really poor Johan.
   91. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2843738)
That wasn't a good AB.

Let's go Reyes!
   92. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2843739)
Oh well, at least he didn't GIDP.

Don't be antsy, Reyes.
   93. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2843743)
Calmate, Jose.
   94. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:14 PM (#2843744)
At least it wasn't a DP.
   95. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:15 PM (#2843745)
I don't think you could have expected any more.
   96. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:15 PM (#2843746)
Beat it!
   97. Lassus Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:15 PM (#2843747)
Thanks god Reyes' speed can overcome our inability to knock in runs today.

Honestly, we did put a pounding on the Cardinals, even if we split.
   98. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:15 PM (#2843748)
This team is horrible with the bases loaded.
   99. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:16 PM (#2843749)
Walk Endy Walk!
   100. Joshemy Posted: July 04, 2008 at 08:16 PM (#2843750)
Come on David!
