DELGADIT!!!

   305. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2863302)
What a pretty piece of hitting.
   306. Alan S Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2863303)
Castillo inhabiting the body of Delgado for that AB. Woooooooooo!
   307. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2863306)
Gotta love it!!! Carlos II gets us ahead!!!!

Terrible pitch selection. The kid can blow the ball by Delgado . . . and he quickens his bat with that???
   308. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863308)
Another run here would be nice.
   309. Joshemy Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863309)
TATIS!!!
   310. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863310)
And some insurance from Tatis!!! EVERYBODY HITS!!!!!
   311. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863311)
Tatis! Wow wow wow!
   312. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863312)
FERNANDO ####### TATIS!!!111

I'm in shock.
   313. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:42 PM (#2863313)
EVERYBODY HITS!

This team is just absolutely flying right now. Remove interim from Jerry's tag tomorrow.
   314. Alan S Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2863314)
The more Tatis hits, the more confused I get. But I do not care.
   315. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2863315)
You know what I can almost see from here? The view is a bit hazy, but I think I can almost see . . . first place!
   316. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2863316)
With Wagner, we need every run we can get.
   317. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2863317)
Coco either has it or he doesn't. Pretty easy to see within 3 hitters.

Yet Yost left him out there. As does Baker.

Odd.
   318. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2863318)
Tatis still has some serious batspeed and he swings hard. I don't know if he can remain productive but he just turned on a 95 MPH heater.
   319. PreservedFish Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2863319)
This is nuts. And Tatis is quickly becoming legendary
   320. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863321)
I'd use Castro here. Why not go for the knockout?
   321. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863322)
You know, Jose Reyes may yet get another chance to make a contribution tonight!
   322. Swoboda is freedom Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863323)
Wagner can still blow this
   323. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863324)
Two more runs would make this much more comfortable.
   324. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863325)
He's actually using Castro!
   325. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863326)
Ah, Jerry. That's the way!
   326. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863327)
Castro as pinch hitter. Nice to see Manuel going for the jugular.
   327. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2863329)
Castro should PH.
   328. Joshemy Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2863330)
Is Tatis reaching Kool-Aid nickname level?
   329. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2863332)
Well, that didn't work out. Still the right move, of course.
   330. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2863333)
Well, that didn't work out so well, Ramon . . . . Come on, Nick.
   331. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2863334)
Evans will deliver here.
   332. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2863335)
We should just start calling Tatis, "Legendary."
   333. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2863336)
That was ugly.

Come on, lefty-mashing Evans.
   334. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2863338)
OK, Billy. Just give up the same one run you did in the ASG, OK? NO MORE.
   335. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2863339)
We should just start calling Tatis, "Legendary."

How about Zombie? He's back from the dead and we aren't sure we can believe in him.
   336. Joshemy Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:50 PM (#2863340)
EXIT LIGHT!
ENTER NIGHT!
   337. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:50 PM (#2863341)
I'll punch you in the face if you blow this Billy.
   338. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:50 PM (#2863343)
That probably wasn't enough.
   339. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2863344)
Tatis still has some serious batspeed and he swings hard. I don't know if he can remain productive but he just turned on a 95 MPH heater.

It was a breaking ball.
   340. Dan Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2863345)
I'll punch you in the face if you blow this Billy.

You'd better not go back on this promise.
   341. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2863346)
Oh, how I love one pitch outs!

Two more, you rustic, rural, country #######.
   342. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2863348)
That was huge. Encarnacion was a big threat . . . .
   343. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863350)
Throw strikes, damnit. Especially to the lefties.
   344. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863351)
Now would be a nice time to drop a slider on Votto, Billy.
   345. PreservedFish Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863352)
It was a breaking ball.

Had it been a 95 mph fastball he probably would have hit a homerun
   346. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863353)
Has there ever been a closer with a sub-1.00 WHIP who gets more hate? Not that it is undeserved.
   347. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863354)
Heater it is, then. TWO GONE!
   348. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2863355)
Two down . . . come on, Save Dwarf™! Finish this!
   349. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2863356)
Ross had better not walk here.
   350. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2863357)
FIRST PLACE!!!!! Hello, Phillies. We caught your asses!!!!!!
   351. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2863359)
THAT'S 10!
   352. Dan Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2863358)
I was surprised at how much hate there was for a starter with a sub-3.00 ERA. Of course an inning later he no longer HAD a sub-3.00 ERA...
   353. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2863360)
YES!!! YES!!! FIRST PLACE! SO AWESOME!
   354. Joshemy Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2863361)
The bare handed charge!

Happy Recap! Tied for first!
   355. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2863362)
FIRST PLACE!!!!!!!
   356. Alan S Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2863363)
Huzzah! This team has been so much more fun to watch these past two weeks than it's been in the past 160 games.
   357. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2863364)
66 games to play . . . and it's a new season. Can't ask for much more than that, can you???
   358. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2863365)
Sixty-six games to go. Let's do this.
   359. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2863366)
When Delgado's hitting, the Mets are a completely different offensive team.
   360. PreservedFish Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2863367)
Has there ever been a closer with a sub-1.00 WHIP who gets more hate? Not that it is undeserved.

After watching Franco, Benitez and Wagner all put up All-Star numbers while being known to Mets fans as bums, I think that short of a homegrown and loveable and Rivera-quality guy no Met closer will ever have a good reputation
   361. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2863369)
Wagner was clearly afraid of being punched in the face.
   362. PreservedFish Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2863370)
And, oh yeah. Go Mets! This feels great, in May I gave up on the Mets in my heart so now it seems like a bonus season.
   363. Bob Koo Posted: July 17, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2863371)
What a way to get win #10. I admit, I wrote this game off after Jose K'd to start the 9th...
   364. Chris Dial Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:00 PM (#2863376)
I wrote the game off after teh 8th because I have to fly to NYC in the AM. WOOOOT! AWESOME!!!!
   365. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2863378)
They are not happy, by the way, on the post-game show on FSN-Ohio. Makes me smile. ;-)
   366. Russlan is glad the 2008 season is over Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:04 PM (#2863381)
The Mets have only scored 11 runs less than Phillies this season which is nothing considering the differences in home BPs.
   367. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2863385)
What are they saying, Sam? Wright's HR was cheap?
   368. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2863389)
THIS is a happy page. Oddly, it says the Mets are 9-1 in their last 10, even though it also says they have a 10-game winning streak. Those two things can't both be true . . . .
   369. Jesus Don't Want Mets For A Sunbeam Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:09 PM (#2863391)
Los Tatis kick your butt
Los Tatis kick your face
Los Tatis kick your ass into OUTER SPACE!
   370. Sam M. Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:10 PM (#2863393)
What are they saying, Sam? Wright's HR was cheap?

No, just that this is not the way the Reds wanted to start the second half, that they did so many good things to come back from behind and then lost -- indeed, to the extent it's not bemoaning the poor Reds, they are calling it "the David Wright story" because he had the two-run single to close the gap and then the key HR to tie it. So they're giving him credit. But mostly they're bemoaning the Reds' fate.
   371. Alan S Posted: July 17, 2008 at 11:26 PM (#2863403)
The page is fixed now, Sam ;)
