Why has no one posted to this yet?
   2. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:40 PM (#2916996)
Because it just arrived... to crosspost, "AWESOME!!!"
   3. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:41 PM (#2917003)
I concur.
   4. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:43 PM (#2917012)
EASLEY DONE!!
   5. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:43 PM (#2917015)
Slappy might be better than Easley, but Easley can hit the ball much farther.
   6. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:43 PM (#2917016)
The hell?
   7. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:48 PM (#2917027)
Where's Crispix? I need someone to torment, and he's an excellent candidate.
   8. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:49 PM (#2917033)
This is by the far the best movement Pedro's had on his pitches this year. His fastball has been straight all season, but it's tailing/cutting/sinking all over the place tonight. I like it.
   9. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2917045)
Who says Easley can't play defense?
   10. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2917046)
NICE PLAY, OLD MAN!
   11. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:53 PM (#2917047)
Ah, that's a sweet play on BOTH ends!
   12. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:56 PM (#2917055)
Feliz definitely should have made that play.
   13. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2917060)
As goes Carlos Delgado, so go the Mets. Thank god he's doing well.
   14. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 07:59 PM (#2917061)
The Mets need to score a lot of runs because the Phils dominate the Mets bullpen.
   15. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:00 PM (#2917066)
We're going to assume the Mets bullpen doesn't exist for the next hour or so... happy thoughts and all.
   16. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2917067)
Beltran steals third so easy.
   17. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2917068)
Beltran is so awesome. It bothers me so much that so many people dislike him.
   18. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:01 PM (#2917069)
MAN it looked like he had no lead at all. He's freaking fast.
   19. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2917072)
That was a bad call.
   20. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2917073)
I thought that was a fair ball when I saw it live. The replay doesn't seem to make it any clearer.
   21. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2917074)
That may or may not have been the right call, but it appears to have been made incorrectly.
   22. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2917075)
This call will not be reviewable on Thursday, BTW.
   23. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:03 PM (#2917078)
Fair by a mile. Bad movement by Beltran, bad call by the umpire, bad everything.
   24. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:03 PM (#2917079)
I'm thinking we just got very lucky. Take advantage, Fernando.
   25. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:03 PM (#2917080)
That was a huge mistake by Beltran, whatever the result.
   26. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:04 PM (#2917082)
I think Beltran was distracted by the broken bat.
   27. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:05 PM (#2917086)
The way Tatis swings, especially at batting practice fastballs like Moyer's, he's going to be exhausted by the end of this AB.
   28. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2917089)
TATIS!!!!!!!
   29. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:06 PM (#2917091)
Tatis is really making pitchers work recently. Drawing a lot of walks and not striking at too much.
   30. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2917092)
LEGENDARY!
   31. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2917093)
Boom! Tatis hit 3 or 4 balls very very hard that at bat. That last one will suffice though.
   32. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2917094)
How can you sit Tatis? I mean, seriously. You really can't. I leave the kids on the bench, even Murphy. He's too god this year.
   33. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:07 PM (#2917096)
LAUGHTER - I mean too GOOD, Tatis.
   34. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:08 PM (#2917097)
Moyer is looking Glavinesque, circa September 2007.

I wouldn't hate benching Murphy and Evans and just going with Tatis. The guy can hit.
   35. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:08 PM (#2917100)
Damn, I missed Tatis.
   36. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:09 PM (#2917103)
Fernando Tatis is comeback player of the year, right?
   37. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2917107)
I would almost rather have had Pedro make an out and just have Reyes lead off next inning.
   38. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2917106)
There's plenty of time for Tatis, Murphy, and Evans... Church should only play 3/4 days, Delgado should get the occassional day off vs LHP, and then basically rotate the rest in LF.
   39. manchestermets Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:11 PM (#2917111)
Beltran is so awesome. It bothers me so much that so many people dislike him.

Me too. I really really don't understand what it is - he hits as well as any CF in the league - he's about 5 points behind the leader in OPS+ as far as I can see - as well as playing sensational defense and running the bases well. He's an elite player.
   40. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2917117)

Beltran is an elite player but he's not an elite hitter. Also, while he is having a good year he's certainly capable of better.
   41. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:14 PM (#2917119)
Pedro's blowing them away.
   42. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:15 PM (#2917124)
On the radio pregame, they said (paraphrasing), "When Jamie Moyer pitches against the Mets, he only throws good games. It's fact." Well, after this 3 inning/6 run outing, it no longer is fact.
   43. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:16 PM (#2917125)
You gotta Rollins, Pedro. You're asking for trouble when you don't.
   44. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:22 PM (#2917142)
Pedro rules.
   45. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:22 PM (#2917143)
That was a nasty pitch to freeze Burrel. They're looking overmatched. This is 2005 Pedro stuff tonight.
   46. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:22 PM (#2917144)
Pedro is bringing it today.
   47. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:23 PM (#2917147)
Also, why do I always spell Burrell's name with 1 "l" instead of 2?
   48. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2917148)
So far, I'm enjoying this game more than any other this year. That makes me very nervous.
   49. Chris Dial Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2917149)
What a nasty pitch to Burrell. THat was awesome. Pedro is dealing. I think he wants the CG.
   50. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:26 PM (#2917160)
3/4 of the way to a cycle.
   51. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:26 PM (#2917161)
I predict that Damion Easley hits for the cycle twice in this game.
   52. Chris Dial Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:27 PM (#2917170)
Easley going for the cycle!
   53. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2917178)
The ump just wanted a close up look at the ballgirl.
   54. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2917191)
The ump just wanted a close up look at the ballgirl.

I do too. Get on it, SNY!
   55. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:32 PM (#2917201)
Easley only needs a double for the cycle? Castillo is never getting off the bench.
   56. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:35 PM (#2917213)
Pedro with the lead-off Maine.
   57. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2917232)
Pedro not getting that complete game at this rate.
   58. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:41 PM (#2917239)
The bullpen can probably hold a 6 run lead for 2 or 3 innings.
   59. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:42 PM (#2917241)
Gold Glove, Keith. Not Golden Glove!
   60. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2917248)
Come on, Petey. Get Ruiz.
   61. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:43 PM (#2917250)
Maybe he boxes in his spare time. You don't know for sure, AJM.
   62. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:46 PM (#2917260)
The bullpen can probably hold a 6 run lead for 2 or 3 innings.

Probably. But it's a guarantee they'll make it very interesting.

How am I supposed to believe that Michael Lee is a rich Beverly Hills kid?

How are you enjoying the Wire, Lassus?
   63. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2917273)
Well, errors are going to happen when you have to adjust for a speedster like Castro.
   64. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2917276)
Maybe he boxes in his spare time. You don't know for sure, AJM.

He could. But judging from the concussions, I'd guess Church is the boxer.
   65. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2917279)
Great, Castro hurt.
   66. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2917281)
Ah, not again. ####.
   67. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2917285)
Castro has the talent to play everyday but he'd never stay healthy for the entire year.
   68. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2917286)
How are you enjoying the Wire, Lassus?

It's a very pretty box. I've been working 50-hour weeks, and for the next six weeks it will be 75-80 hours. So when I get Season 1, and quit my job, or half of it, I'll report back.
   69. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2917304)
If Castro has to go on the DL, I hope they call up Casanova. He has a great name and he is much better than Cancel.
   70. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2917313)
Agreed, Russlan... Casanova should be here 9/1 no matter what.
   71. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2917316)
Horseshoot double by relief pitcher not necessary...
   72. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2917319)
Blah.
   73. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:59 PM (#2917328)
Eeep.
   74. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2917330)
#### sticks.
   75. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2917331)
This is becoming more interesting than I would have preferred.
   76. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2917332)
Rollins is hot right now. 8 straight times on base.
   77. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2917336)
Come on Pedro, just get through this inning...
   78. Chris Dial Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2917337)
I have Heilman start the next inning.
   79. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2917342)
BTW, starting Niese @ Milwaukee is a horrible idea... on the road against a team that slaughters LHP. Give someone else that start and let Jonathan fill in after that.
   80. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2917344)
I think the Mets are going to need at least 4 from the BP tonight.
   81. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2917347)
Yeah, if Pedro can get through this, I try to go Heilman for 2 and Show for 2.
   82. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2917353)
Of course, "if Pedro can get through this" is looking doubtful.
   83. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2917354)
This is turning into a long game.
   84. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2917365)
This has gone from a dominant performance to a bad one oh so quickly.
   85. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:05 PM (#2917366)
I have Heilman start the next inning.

Dial, when are you going to end your unreasonable love affair and positive attitude regarding Heilman?

I'll be here all week.
   86. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2917370)
suck it, pat.
   87. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2917377)
Damn it.
   88. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2917379)
Well then.
   89. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2917380)
####### ####.
   90. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2917382)
Alright, this game is not very entertaining right now.
   91. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2917383)
I'd give him one more baserunner. Just because we have little choice.
   92. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2917385)
I don't why Pedro is giving up so many homers right now.
   93. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2917386)
Pedro is teh awesomeness!!!111
   94. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2917388)
Its because he nibbles and sucks balls. That's why, Russian.
   95. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2917396)
48. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 08:24 PM (#2917148)
So far, I'm enjoying this game more than any other this year. That makes me very nervous.

It's been all downhill since then. Sadly, I'm clairvoyant.
   96. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2917398)
####### retire already, you ####### Prima Donna.
   97. Lassus Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2917402)
OK, sorry Pedro, no more.
   98. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2917403)
(signals to bullpen)
   99. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2917404)
Give Pedro a win? Who gives a #### about Pedro? The METS need a win.
   100. Alan S Posted: August 26, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2917405)
Let him face one more, Jerry. I'm a masochist.
