What a great game to arrive at the office to find! Been out all day, and we're on the verge of the sweep. You guys really do take care of business, don't you? Excellent!

Even Endy can't overcome Schoeneweis' suckitude.

Weeks is going to crush Schoeneweis.

OK, maybe not.

A trip that couldn't have started worse ends very well. 6-2 is huge.

How about some help, Nats?

Holy cow. What a road trip.

1-1 at Philly.
2-1 in Miami.
3-0 in Milwaukee.

Fantastic. Just fantastic.

3-0 in September.

And I'll say it again: You're welcome, Cubs.

I wish I could watch the Nats game, but i've got stupid school. Gotta get my learn on.

The thing that is especially sweet is that the Mets gained ground on the Phillies while the Mets were playng Milwaukee and the Phillies were playing the Nats. That's quite the accomplishment.

My only solace is that if there were anyone in the clubhouse feeling good about things one would think this woke them up to the fact that the season is not over.

And Russlan, I am working on the presumption that CC and Ben ARE both gone after the season. CC wants a kajillion dollars and Ben wants half a kajillion.

I have already suggested that the crew sign Derek Lowe to eat innings at a competent level.

With any luck, we could actually gain TWO games. Go Nats, tonight!

Notice, BTW, that Daniel's got his average back up to .359? Anybody who thought the league had figured him out and he was just a fluke . . . think again. He's for real. For real.

And the Mets now have four pitchers with 10 or more wins. First time since 2000, when they had five guys do it.

I'm happy the Mets gave Evans a chance. And now we get to reap the rewards.

I'll tell you another thing this sweep did: it's now plausible -- still remote, but at least now plausible -- that the Mets could finish second and make the post-season. They're just 1.5 games behind the Brewers, so you could envision a scenario in which they lose a torrid race to the Phillies where both teams played very well down the stretch, and the loser edges out the Brewers. Prior to this road trip, that was pretty damned fanciful. Now, it still isn't likely; the odds are that the loser of the NL East is NOT going to play well enough to make up ground on the Brewers (the Phillies, currently second, are after all still four games behind them in the loss column).

But the WC is now at least somewhat in play.
