With his second double of the game, in the third inning, Ivan Rodriguez went over 4,000 total bases for his career. This breaks the mark of 3,999 total bases by a player who was primarily a catcher, held by the original Pudge, Carlton Fisk.

I’m willing to wager Igawa hasn’t thrown a single strike on the outside corner tonight. Real tough job for the right handed Tiger hitters here:

1. They can eliminate an entire side of the strike zone to worry about
2. They don’t have to worry about Igawa’s garbage secondary pitches, which he throws for strikes about 30 percent of the time
3. Oh, and all that inside gas is coming in it at a terrifying 89 MPH.

From a pure scouting stand-point signing this guy is an absolute disgrace to the Yankee organization. What a joke.
