Also, LA is West Coast. It makes sense to start the late game there.
But the
HoustonClemens game is the one I'm pumped for. After this year's post-season heroics, I'm hoping it only takes 2 weeks, instead of 3, for Roger to un-retire and come back for another season.Re ratings -- they are teh suck for the ALCS. Fox finished in third last night. They are teh suck for the NLCS too, probably, as Fox finished in third Thursday night even though they could tailor the viewing to the market, but Thursday's a tough night. Friday's not.
I guess Fox makes the decisions before knowing whether more people will watch AL or NL, because today's Cards/stros game was scheduled for the afternoon on Monday or Tuesday, before the serieseseses started.
Well, as someone has pointed out, it is the #2 teams in those markets. Nonetheless, I just don't think anyone has the drawing power for the casual fan that the Yankees and Red Sox do. Which seems like a shame because there's been a couple of pretty good games so far
Man, this pregame inanity is excrutiating.
Does it really matter who the Cards put on the mound today? With Clemens pitching, the Astros are odds-on favorites to be shut out.
2-1, Houston.
Highly recommended.
I guess that was just karma knocking him in the face.
Berkman took a good pitch to end that at bat.
Drama. I love this sport of baseball.
Sox in '04 did just fine facong him down.
What drama? You don't really think there is a serious chance of Houston scoring with Roger on the mound?
I don't.

Strange things happen. Like Sarah's husband, for instance.
Someone needs to fix that ballpark.
Apparently he's never watched the Red Sox, Manny does that all the time.
All the time.
Manny at Fenway is one, correct.
Plenty of righties at Yankee Stadium, including Jeter, A-Rod and Sheff.
The pitcher bunt with runners on 1st and 2nd always seemed to have a comparatively low success rate. Putting the fielders on their toes a bit is a good idea.
Maybe Black Betsy got a couple of swings on the ol' girl.
Beetlejuice was kinda randy so why not Joe?
Say it ain't so!

I know the ALCS game is gonna have to split time with the Canadiens-Leafs tonight.

If he gives up another run he should lose custody of his Cy Young trophies.

Clemens got out of it. They were hitting him really hard.
Try telling Roger Clemens, or Roger's mom, that the Astros have a good offense.
Were the umps in good position to see it?
Burke hardly played during the regular season, so it's hard to say. I imagine if/when Burke played in the OF, every team took advantage of his 2b's arm.
Someone said that the Cardinals were a more complete team than the Astros.
I still think this is true. The Cards were third in the NL in runs and 1st in ERA. The Astros were 11th in runs (and remember their park) and near the top in ERA. I don't remember exactly.
But, the gap is much smaller with the injuries and in a short series.
Lamb's legs were pretty high up in the air, and he landed sideways on third base.
On the other hand, Nunez was in his baseline. My reaction is that's dirty but acceptable.
The Astros are scary. A 1 or 2 run lead in the 8th and the game is over.
Was he coming out of the cornfield? And where did she learn to eat corn on the cob that way?

1998 draft, top picks
The Yankees should've tried a bit harder to sign the 43rd pick in 1998.
