Game Chatter — Where Thinking Fans Discuss Today's Games Friday, May 19, 2006NY Yankees 23-16 at NY Mets 24-16 - 7:10pm ETNYY: R. Johnson (5-4, 5.13) vs. NYM: J. Gonzalez (0-0, 5.40) The Big Useless against the Junior Varsity. While the thought of a crippled Randy Johnson having to bat scared me at first, I remember now that he will be knocked out of the game before his spot in the batting order comes up, so it’s no longer a concern. |

Where's Joe McEwing when we need him most?
It's tought to be more "veteran" than RJ.
We can dispassionately discuss his "ceiling" (and we'd be right; I don't see Bubba ever getting 400 ABs in a season), but it just isn't like that in his head.
I hate my life.

Oh, and thanks SNY/YES for not picking up this game. No one outside of the New York area will be seeing it.
Not even us in fake NY! (Buffalo area)
Alright, I'll make it even easier. Assume that Anderson is gonna be one of the top five defensive secondbaseman in baseball. Quite an assumption, but now you have something to go on. COME ON, METGEEKS, ASSEMBLE
This could be worse, but I don't know how.

I warned everyone mid-week Dial, Where were you? Tomorrow they're on FOX and Sunday on ESPN.
I'm guessing bottom of the 2nd.
big break for the Mets
the stupid part of the batting order comes up
Cano, you are smoooooth.
Getting beat is one thing. But remember, the more Jeremi Gonzalez gets whacked around, the more likely the Mets will continue to observe Lima time.
"The last thing the Yankees need in the world is for Bernie Williams to be hurt."
Yeah, replacement-level outfielders are tough to find.
Phillies have the bases loaded with two outs against Clement.
There's your first mistake right there.
That's ok, neither can they.
At least the Mets now know Gonzalez can't be counted on, and we did go 1-1 in his two starts. And yes, I'm trying to spin it the best way I can.
GO VARSITY!
Why does David Wright bat 5th every day? Seems like such a good on-base guy should hit 2nd or 3rd, but I'm no Mets expert.
Welcome to the world of Willie Randolph.
